He might decide that the top marginal rates are low enough already, because today's rate is roughly half what it was when he first entered office.  He might decide that Obamacare is here to stay and fighting it is a lost cause.  He also might decide that Russia is no longer a communist state and we don't have to worry about them anymore.  Anyhow, given that Cheney is with Kamala now and Bush 41 was for Hillary, I think Reagan would be with Kamala too.

I think there's a very good chance of that.  Beyond policy differences, I think Ronald Reagan would have detested Donald Trump personally.  Reagan got along with everyone, and was a good-natured person.  I won't go over Trump's personality problems and peculiarities again, but personality-wise, he's about as far from Ronald Reagan as he could be.

Regardless, I get to riff on famous Reagan quotes, and so do you, and FSG, and everyone else.  It's fun! Eat some jelly beans and chill the F out, y'all.
I hope someone took roll call so they didn't leave anyone behind in the last town lolol

There is a mindset with certain dates. Before and after. In my lifetime it's 9/11 and 2020/pandemic. Those two dates significantly and fundamentally changed life as we know it. For my parents it was the assassination of JFK, 9/11 and 2020. In my grandparents' day it would have been the attack on Pearl Harbor, JFK and 9/11.

In all of these there is a very specific before and after. January 6 doesn't have that same effect. Did some crazy stuff happen? Yes. Did it significantly alter how we live our lives? No. Actually it didn't register in my daily life at all. There may be a cumulative effect that comes to a head at some point, but in no way does that day have the same gravitas those other dates do.

That's true for me as well.  One reason is January 6 wasn't an "out of nowhere" type of surprise.  The Trump social media noise machine said something big was going to happen.
Regardless, I'm not saying the day significantly affected daily life that way.  I'm just saying it will be taught in history classes.

Hopefully not in Florida.  If it is, I'll be sure to show my kids the truth of that day when they get home.

So, you're saying those in charge of Capitol security KNEW something big was going to happen but failed to implement additional security measures to safeguard the building and its occupants?  Wow, it's almost like they WANTED it to happen.
Don't ask him to connect any dots.

They wanted it so much the capital police opened the locked doors and escorted folks around the building as if giving a tour.

They did have additional security.  They had enough to prevent harm to officials.  They just didn't have enough to keep people out of the building or enough to maintain order in the building.  They underestimated.

They did not want it to happen.

Trump wanted it to happen.

That's exactly how some of them got into the Senate chamber. It was a trick. The chamber was empty.

Gay porn is less of a threat to the legislative process than a violent mob, regardless of which one you'd prefer to be involved in.

For the last 3 1/2 years, you've been telling us that those officials were in serious danger.  Now, you're saying there was sufficient security in place to protect them from harm.

You keep on throwing out irrelevant facts as if they disprove anything I said.
If two men break into my house and try to rob me while I'm home, but my shotgun is adequate to scare them off, does that mean my life was never in danger? Does that mean they committed no crime?
