He was proven wrong.
But here's another "If they don't personally have the problem themselves, they don't see it as a problem for anyone." I suppose all of you guys are living comfortably with affordable rent or mortgage payments? Is there a housing shortage in the US, or not?
Absolutely!
Is there anything the federal government can or should do about that shortage?

No mortgage payment here but I see my children struggle with the outrageous rent. It's why I brought up corporations buying up whole neighborhoods which is causing the housing shortage. I just don't know how to fix it. Sure you can build more houses but who builds them? The same corporations that are buying up existing housing. I don't believe government intervention is the answer either.

In many areas you literally can't build more houses. Because of zoning. We can literally build homes in factories, but cities and towns won't permit them to be installed because they either don't want any new homes, or they want all new homes to be McMansions.

What should they do?
Start deporting all of the illegal aliens as a first step.

I mean I want a unicorn too, but I think the plan should start on a plausible foundation and maybe build from there.

So defending out border is not plausible to you? We get rid of about 20 million illegals and housing will get better as will the job market.

Defending the border is perfectly plausible.
Kicking some people out is also plausible.
Kicking them all out is not plausible.
Kicking out enough to make a dent in the housing market is not plausible, especially considering that losing their labor will slow the building of new homes.

So you condone legitimate home builders utilizing illegal labor?

I acknowledge it. Is it wrong to say that if the illegal labor disappeared tomorrow, the pace of new homes construction would slow down, at least temporarily? Of course it would. It's a tough problem. Which is a higher priority? It's hard. But I do think you can clamp down on the border and send some folks home and really send a message to people who are not yet here that they need to have permission before they come while not disrupting the labor market too much.

Interest rates are what slowed down the housing market, not labor. You can thank your people for that.

The housing shortage in big West coast cities is over 40 years old. In Florida it's less of course. In central Florida, the rent spiked before the interest rates spiked.
You're right that the high interest rates are making things worse, and you're correct to blame those rates on Biden's early policy choices, but the interest rates didn't start the problem. Bad zoning did.
Mikesez believs the lie. As in all things his naivete serves his hubris.

It's no lie to cut through all the bull [BLEEP] you spew to obfuscate what you actually think and drill into the basic falsehoods of your beliefs. It saves us all a ton of time.
