Previously, that's where he allegedly stayed for one of those games he claims he came to Jax to see.

I made a mistake. I only stay at one place when i come down and thats the Radisson on Salisbury road. I meant Interstate 95.

I-4 doesn't come anywhere near Jacksonville.  The closest to Jacksonville it comes is Daytona.

Ok, that at least connects correctly.
Quote:@clarencehilljr Feel bad for football fans St. Louis and San Diego though....yet Jacksonville has a team

Why does the media feel the need to constantly bash and put down Jacksonville?

I thought that was over with already. I guess winning would cure all.
Rams have 4 winning seasons since 1990, so I dont think its about winning
Media still seen as joke by me

I think it's rich that a beat writer for the perpetually over-hyped mediocrity machine that is the Dallas Cowboys thinks he has room to disrespect Jacksonville.  When armpit of America cities like Detroit, Cleveland, and (until yesterday) St. Louis can still have teams, great places to live like Jacksonville should always be praised as homes for sports.

It's not just the media that's so upset about the Jags staying in Jax too. I've already gotten into on fb (I know, I know) with a couple of people about why St. Louis lost their team and Jags stay put.

I really, really don't understand it but some people are so salty about Jacksonville having an NFL team.

Cleveland is actually a really nice city, with waaay more things to do, especially around the stadium, than Jacksonville. Never has any reason to go to Detroit, St Louis is a cesspool.

I have been there once for work during non-football season. The Rock HOF is right there next to the stadium. The area does look like it would be fun.
Had a college buddy that lived in an suburb east of the st Louis arch thing. We hung out at his parents house for a week.

Those who say the city of st Louis is a cesspool sound not well traveled. Any city you go to has areas that are jacked up. That's kinda how things are nowadays.

Then there's Detroit. Gotta feel bad for those souls that live there.

Also, my wife got this wild hair over Christmas to make a five year plan to move to fernandina/yulee area to be closer to my mom.

Thank God that is our new plans work out, I'll have the opportunity to be a season ticket holder again.

Just happy Jacksonville has a team!!

No matter how bad they suck, there's nothing like going to an nfl game in person.

Parts of STL are decent enough, just like any other city in America. Parts of it are an armed robbery waiting to happen. Pretty much like any other city, including Jacksonville.

Detroit, on the other hand, absolutely sucks. The only city I've ever been to (well, ok, one of two--looking at you, Rapid City, SD) that I genuinely just have no desire to ever see again for the rest of my life. Now that I'm not stuck flying Delta everywhere, I don't have to! Big Grin

Exactly, any major city these days are gonna have really nice spots and then spots that god has forsaken.

Unfortunately for Detroit, they hit the antithesis of the lottery. I'm not sure there is any "nice" spot of Detroit.

But hey, I could even be wrong about that. We need D6's input on this one...

I spent over a month in St. Louis working just outside of the city, and staying down in Fenton across from an old closed manufacturing facility where Chrysler used to build their mini vans.  Fenton was a nice area similar to something like Mandarin here in Jax.  Decent neighborhoods, newer shopping centers, good restaurants, and nice hotels.  I got a good dose of STL during that month, and actually enjoyed my time there.  Great people.  Nice city.  VERY baseball focused.  The Rams were almost an afterthought with most people I spoke to, and I was there right around the draft.  Nobody was talking about it because spring training was about to end.

Detroit has a number of nice spots,  when you factor in entertainment and / or places to live.   Downtown Detroit has the Greektown and Foxtown entertainment areas.    The Riverfront Area has seen real estate value go up substantially in the last 20 years or so.   Midtown is another good entertainment area and has Wayne St.  University.   There are some decent to good neighbors in the city.   There's no question that a large part of Detroit is run down to put it mildly.  The same can be said for every U.S. city,  though Detroit has a higher % of run down areas compared to most cities

When one looks at an area,  the entire Metropolitan Area should be included.   When it is,  the Detroit area has a very good combination of entertainment,  restaurants,  and home options.   Bloomfield Hills and Grosse Pointe don't take a back seat to the expensive real estate neighborhoods around the U.S.   The Detroit area by itself has a professional sports team in the 4 major U.S. sports,  a high quality zoo,  and some great museums,    It's a great outdoors area in warmer weather.   The various lakes provide many recreational options.   It's also a very good golf area.   If Southwestern Ontario and the Ann Arbor Market is included,   there's that much more to offer.

My preference is the focus being on NFL Owners like Stan Kroenke and Jerry Jones that endanger the majority of future of NFL teams in their current locations.    If they had their way,  ultimately the NFL would be in many international cities where there's more money to be made compared.   London would be only a step to making this a jet setting league.    Though I greatly enjoy and respect competition and rivalries on the field  ( my favorite Lions games are against the other 3 NFC North teams ),  when it comes to the survival of the majority of NFL teams in their current markets,  unity is far better than pitting one city/ area against the other.
