And Yet Trump is leading in the polls at 35%

Quote:And Yet Trump is leading in the polls at 35%

most of the polls only count individuals who voted the last time around with a working home phone line. Polls are not accurate and for the love of all things holy I believe do not accurately reflect where the GOP is going and who they are going to nominate.

Too crowded in this country.  Go live somewhere else.

Quote:There's a HUGE difference in ending immigration from a country and ending immigration from a religion. It would be one thing to say these states are known sponsors of terror and therefor we are no longer accepting immigration papers from these states, but to blanket an entire religion is just absurd, unrealistic and hyperbole at best.

It's probably the single dumbest thing Trump has said yet.

The problem is that Islam is a lot more than just a religion. It's also a political, social, and legal system.

Understood but he's talking about implementing a religious test before immigration. Even if we accept it and ignore the abusive nature that could later be used against other religions, it's pointless. Does anyone really think a terrorist isn't going to just deny being Muslim to avoid not being granted access (assuming their immigrating legally in the first place)
Yup.. Build your bomb shelters and cower (maybe if it's big enough Eric, you'll have presidential company).. Keep re-electing the trending wussification of America.. Throw your vote away.. Not me anymore.. Time for a real leader..

Trump..
Quote:He's not talking about asylum he's talking about immigration. Trump is suggesting a religious test of some sort before anyone is allowed to immigrate, holy crap you don't see how dangerous that is?

Not to long ago it was Catholic and Protestants blowing each other up in Ireland, with this kind of thinking we would've stopped all Christian and Catholic immigration!

Damn Trump is out talking about FDR and his actions as if that was something to emulate, possible one of the darkest points in our history and this idiot wants to take us back for round 2.

In all fairness.  The IRA never flew a plane into an American building.  This is a response to a threat that is constantly evolving.

Lol.  Trump is the dangerous idiot?  lol.  Ok.  So far how many people has his immigration policy killed?  What about the geniuses at the DHS that have 72 people on the terrorist watch list working in the @#%^!!!  building.  THOSE are the dangerous idiots.

The female shooter espoused radical views and was associated with fundamentalist elements in her own country.  There is no way post 9-11 that she should have been grated a k-1 visa let alone after the events in Paris and the subsequent abolition of what we know about terrorists.

That's why Trump said that we should suspend it UNTIL OUR REPRESENTATIVES figure out what the @@*$)% is going on.  anyone in favor of just letting anyone into the country without vetting please register in the dunce line.

I'm in full support..

We are not dealing with a nationalist threat.  We are dealing with a delocalized enemy that does not wear a uniform.  It is born of an ideology that is fundamentally at odds with our constitutional values and inherently devalues anyone or anything that does not agree with it and refuses to recognize any form of sovereignty or authority not born of it.  you may disagree with this proposed tactic but we have to concede that we need a 21st century approach to a 21st century problem.

This is the reason why it doesn't make sense and would never be implemented.  It does however make for a nice soundbite that allows Trump to suck up all the available oxygen in the room ensuring that none of his primary opponents have an opportunity to fuel their campaigns.

In other news, The Obama administration is actively barring proposed CHRISTIAN refugees from Syria...  Carry on.

He's talking about xenophobia, bigotry and racism. He is resonating for that reason because way to many conservatives embrace those things. Dangerous fools.

Is it surprising he's leading? The last primary was the same with the early leaders being the same.

Have you compared the republican field to the Donkey Field? We have the most diversity in the political spectrum. Whereas the Democrats have an Old wrinkled bat (Hildebeast) and an old wrinkled socialist. (Sanders)

Trump..

Cowering is sticking your head in the sand and ignoring everything Trump has said, done and represented prior to this presidential campaign. He is not who he claims to be and every time he goes off on these lunatic worthy ideas he's chipping away at real solutions that can make a real difference.

You want to end radical Islamic terrorist threats, we could just stop funding it to enforce regime change and fight proxy wars with Russia? There wouldn't even be an ISIS if we hadn't screwed around with Iraq and trying to out Assad in Syria. Saddam and Assad kept these savages contained at least. Nah I should just accept government surveillance, endless wars, state sponsored religious test, national ID cards, Patriot Act, the NSA, the NDAA for some security cause that's the conservative thing to do.

Well what's you're solution Eric? I hear a lot of criticism of the possible solution but no other input from you.

Ending all foreign aid would be a good start, without the money these "terrorist" wouldn't be able to afford rocks to throw at our tanks much less rockets to shoot down our planes.

We need a radical shift out of interventionist foreign policy, there is no quick solution to this problem. But compromising individual liberty, and imposing draconian measures such as religious test isn't the solution.

A large reason WHY we keep intervening is our dependence on their oil. If we would focus on developing our own natural resources we could be energy independent in a very short period of time.

I've long said we have to deal with ISIS (mostly since their existence is largely our fault), bomb them back to the stone ages. Close up shop and go home, ignore the talk you'll hear from the next Assad or Hussein. They're going to gas their people, they're going to do some nasty stuff, it's who they are just stay out of it. When one of them gets big enough  to be a problem I trust our military would be up to the task.

To be fair, you don't have to have a solution to know something else is a bad idea.
There's going to be a few disappointed Trumpites next year.

I'll bet anyone right now a month ban from the MB that he is not the nominee.

Then he will run independent and piss it all up.

But , no way he gets nomination. Bets?

As far as the ban? Does.a Muslim have something IDing them as such?

Trump bans them. Questionable character come to immigration. Hello, are you Muslim? Oh, no. Ok then, welcome to New Jersey. Lol

You're right. Very diverse. The spectrum ranges from from slightly crazy to full on crazy with a splash of fascism rolled into full on lying. You like it because you are the portion of the base I referred to.
Interestingly out of the larger European countries France is the one with the biggest problems with extremist attacks whilst Germany who is taking the majority of the Syrian refugees isn't. One country has been pretty intolerant of Islam in recent years and the other has been tolerant.

Is more intolerance really that helpful?...

You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.
It's been fascinating to watch Trump inch toward Full Demagoguery. He's not there yet, he's still testing the waters. A little Know-Nothing Party, a little Klan, a lot of celebrity, and a lot of media know how.

Pretty standard so far. Demonize the Mexicans. Muslim terrorism is made for someone like Trump. Claim to be an outsider. Now all that's lacking is a failed assassination attempt. Just what everyone wants, right? -  A rich white guy on a white horse with all the answers.

He's certainly has everyone's attention. Let's see if he get's to the point of no return. Is that possible in politics?

Donald Trump v. Hillary Clinton? Somewhere the Founding Fathers are weeping.
