Quote:Agreed. It was a great game in terms of sheer production, but he was getting beat up all day. The first INT was actually a great play by him just to get it out on time and on target, but it did have quite a bit of heat on it wherein the WR was only able to tip up for grabs. On the fumble he was being slammed by multiple defenders and never had a chance to tuck it or throw it. I have to think that most qbs in this league would have suffered a similar fate on that play. What irks me about that play was Parnell failing to recover it for the offense. He nearly had it. The final play looked like a panic throw as time was running out, but really that's what you call a garbage time INT. It was over by then.
First INT was tipped by Revis. Not A-Rob.

And it was slightly 'behind' the receiver given the tight coverage. Throwing it away under pressure would have been the right call there. Not forcing a slant against a top 5 corner.
The excuses are mind boggling. Yes we have our first productive qbs since David Garrard and Mark Brunell. But damn Blake is pretty stubborn and it's a detriment to this offense. No matter how you slice it he was responsible for 3 turnovers which resulted in 14 points. That's ball game.
Blake needs to learn when to give up on a play. I liked the announcers comment yesterday: "He needs to know when the defense won". He tries to do too much at times which leads to turnovers. On the flip side, many times his escaping leads to good plays and we call him great. There were a few times yesterday that I think he could have ran the ball and gotten some decent yardage.

You're still here?

Another idiot that can't focus on the topic. This is what you want to hear: Blake and Gus are the greatest. Super Bowl bound!

Do you think Blake will be like this forever? Or do you think he'll learn as he gets older? It's his second season, he's going to make stupid, terrible plays sometimes. He'll improve and refine his skills. It's not like we were heading to the super bowl this year.

Someone on 1010XL said it best, he is the reason we win or have a chance to win and the reason we lose. I don't mind the pick so much at the end with no timeouts and 50 seconds to drive it all the way down the field. Or even the pick that the receiver let bounce right off his hands. The fumble though. That's the one that leaves you frustrated. Of course TC looks at stat lines, but what cost us the game was that fumble (along with Marshall's fumble).

Considering he is night and day better than last year we can see he is already learning. I would like to see him start to understand the importance of situations like when he is at or near the redzone, how much time is left, the down and distance, etc... He needs to think, hey, it is first down at the 25 with 5 minutes to go and we can take the lead with a score. What I can't do is turn the ball over so if it isn't their live for 2nd down.

Ok. I thought it was ARob watching the play live, and even watching the replay I almost can't see how you could tell it's so fast. I almost wish there a high-resolution snap shot of the tip to be sure, but I'll take your word on it.

You're right for the most part. Blake needs to find a way to balance his natural tendency to press and settle down. His only limiting factor at the moment is that. Once he achieves that place, he'll be fine. Until then, though...he's going to be incredibly frustrating to watch...no doubt about that.

We had just under a minute to go down field, down by less than a touchdown. That is far from a garbage time INT. That's a clutch-time INT. It was a stupid play, yet again by Blake at the most inopportune time. He had absolutely zero no business throwing that ball. For all the brilliance that he shows, and he does show that, time and time again he shows a penchant for making stupid decisions.

This isn't a matter of reading coverage incorrectly. This is just a flat out idiotic decision, similar to a defensive player hitting a quarterback that is sliding down.

I expect this mistake from my QB in their first year, and only then a few times. But repeatedly, his rookie year and this year, he's made similar mistakes. And every time, we hear him talk about it on his press conference and say it was a "stupid mistake".

At some point, you would think he'd learn to stop making these "stupid mistake"

On the fumble it looked like he didn't realize the second defender was there or I'm sure he'd have tucked it and taken the sack. When they hit him with the hand readying to throw, there was no way that wasn't a fumble. I really wish the team had the mental fortitude to recover that fumble. It looked like Parnell had it but just couldn't secure it. An offensive recovery there and we're talking about a win. There were so many opportunities to win that game.

You show up more often after a Bortles turnover than after a clean game...

why

Story of our season.

Something he feeds off of.

This.

I think he'll "learn" a bit....

But I also think that may be one of his "downside" m.o.'s

Like a Brett Favre. He may always "press" and have a game ending INT a couple times a season.

It might even happen in the playoffs (if we ever get there)

I'm cool with it, as long as winning and TDs happen more often.

I hear you. I was just saying it's doubtful they really go down the field and score there, but they were starting to show they could pull of the impossible like that. He's getting better at maintaining his poise and not doing that as we saw earlier, but again he pressed and tried to force a play that wasn't there. Eventually I'm sure he'll overcome this as well, and when he does he'll go from being Tony Romo to being Ben Roethlisberger.

Its just frustrating to watch, because we all have seen him make great plays. If this was a one-off deal, I can kind of understand. But its constantly repeating
So Blake is the clone of a guy who set NFL records and won a SB... and we're upset. Got it.

This exactly....I don't mind the INTs in this case. The fumble hurt.
