Quote:Mariotta >>>>>> Bortles

once again we get the short end of the QBs

Carr

Mariotta

Luck

Bridgewater

Bortles

Winston

Bridgewater?! bahaha. He will be a future RG3. Bortles will be better than all those QBs above except maybe Luck and Carr.

Baffles me, all the complaining about Blake's interceptions yet all the Luck love. And Bridgewater? More turnovers than scores.
Just straight begging for attention. LOL.
Quote:Your post is very disingenious in regards to the evaluation of Mariota. Lets put a few things in perspective here. The Jags offensive line has a sack rate of 6.8%, good for 20th in the NFL. The Titans line has a sack rate of 12%, far and away the worst in the league. You say that Bortles is asked to 'carry the team' but neglect to mention that he is the only QB in the NFL with two WRs in the top 20 in terms of production (they are also #1 and #2 in YPC min 30 catches). Mariota's best (and only) play-maker this season has been Delainie Walker and the Titans' running game has been equally ineffective. Despite the worse pass protection and an inferior supporting cast of playmakers, Mariota is far and away more efficient than Bortles has ever been, and he is only 6 games into his rookie season. He is more accurate (65.5% vs 56.3), more effective (8 YPA vs 7 YPA), and has been overall better (101.5 QB rating vs 83.2).

Mariota as a rookie is doing more with less than what Bortles has in his 2nd season.

Damn dude, I'm kind of depressed now.
Bortles is going to be on nfl network on around the NFL which is on now not sure when he'll be on there.

I'd be depressed too, if I read a Baconator post longer than 6 words .
Quote:Bortles is going to be on nfl network on around the NFL which is on now not sure when he'll be on there.
Baconator explanation...NFL Network likes to schedule the worst QBs for interviews.  That's why you'll never see Mariota, Winston, Carr and Bridgewater doing an interview on NFL Network. They're future HOF and don't have time for NFL Network.

Baconator would not say that!! He can't spell interview.

I think they've all been interviewed by them already though

Sorry, those are just the facts.

How's the tack defense? I'm curious...

Up and down, but mostly bad. They've been burned big time by the likes of manziel, hoyer, and taylor. They played well against the falcons but so did the 49ers. There's a reason the team is 2-6.
Its pathetic when trolls that have no real concept of football are given numbers to use when they have no idea as to what they mean.

It's even sadder when I have to constantly type the same things, and the troll never even accepts the facts...

But I'll say it again:  BB5 is asked to do more.  He just is.

He throws the ball 10 more times per game...  Because he has to...  The O-line for the Jaguars is less special that the tacks.  It's just a fact.  The tacks have a better run game, than ours.  BB5 has been sacked 25 times.  And if you actually watch the Jaguars play, he's forced out of the pocket a ton.

MM, on the other hand, is asked to throw quick outs.  He's a one read pony, and isn't hurried or sacked as often because he's not asked to push the ball down the field.  I mean, it's fun to look at numbers, but it's important to watch the games.  It's clear that some folks aren't watching BB5 actually play.

The tacks have a higher YAC than the jags.  Those are also facts.   "Oh look how awesome BB5's WRs are".  LOL are you kidding me?  Uh. two 2nd year players that were not on anybody's radar are having great years BECAUSE of BB5...  LOL, how pathetic of an argument is that???  LOL

The tack D is giving up 23 points per game.  The Jags are giving up 30... Again, BB5 is under the gun every game.  He is having to catch up or stay even with teams that are scoring almost at will against a poorly schemed out D and coach that can't figure out how to stop anyone.  Manchuriatata is a game manager.  I mean, I'm watching both players play.  I have Sunday ticket.  MM was getting bailed by by his team constantly.  BB5 is BAILING OUT THE JAGUARS constantly.

HUGE DIFFERENCE...

Look, it's fun to imagine that Mariachita is gonna be the next...  Who ever.  But he's not that good...  I've been watching him play, and he's a poor man's Russel Wilson.  He's having about as much success as a spread offense QB is gonna have untill he finally is figured out.

This is just pathetic, even for you...

If our team was only giving up 23 points per game (that's what the tacks give up) we'd be running this division.  Don't give me your non-sense.

Yeah, the reason you are 2-6 is because you have bad QB play, with an OK D and and OK run game.

The Jaguars have QB play that is very good but prone to mistakes coupled with bad D and below average run game.

Again, if you don't watch the Jaguars play, that's fine.  But don't come here and act like you know what you're talking about.

Damn all I did was post some stats, it's not my fault you can't understand basic concepts like efficiency. Dont forget to take your meds dude.

Nice...

or should I say...

So I provide actual facts that prove that you don't know what you're talking about...  And you come at me with a "meds" snide remark?  By the way, getting off percocet is not easy thing.  But I haven't had to take any pain killers since 5 days after my surgery.  And let me tell you, you get physically addicted to opiates very quickly.

But that's neither here nor there.  I knocked down your dumb "analysis" and you have no response.  But I'm used to it.  That's all you do.  You just fling poop at a wall and ignore the reality.  It's your thing...  Do you.

But in the mean time I'll repost my facts.  Maybe you can be mature enough to actually have a real discussion?

Here are some facts along with my assertion that some folks that roll up in this MB don't know what they are talking about:

I've been cruising around AFC south forums since learning about Luck's injury.  I was a big fan of Bortles/Bridgewater/Carr in 2014 and was even bigger fans of Winston/Mariota when they came out.

I gotta say though, you're wrong about Mariota.  The only reason the Titans have won 2 games is because of Mariota.  The only reason they're in games, is because of Mariota -- Mularky's dumb [BLEEP] even acknowledged this.  He's not a one-read pony, he's the opposite of this -- Cian Fahey and a few other sports dudes have written about Mariota's vision/decision making.

Mariota and Mettenberger were getting sacked so much, that ownership had to step in and fire Whisenhunt.  They were literally scared of Mariota getting killed because the Titans o-line is so bad.    Via PFF, as of last week, the titans o-line was ranked 26th and the Jags were ranked 19th.  You're wrong when you say that the Jags o-line is worse than the Titans.  It's not.

I'd say both teams have nothing at running back.  Your teams need to work on that.  I'd also take your 2 wide receivers over the titans mental midget receivers.  Mariota is working with less talented skill players than Bortles is.  Titans D is a little, maybe even moderately better than Jags D though…i'll have to research this a little deeper.

Bortles deep ball is a lot better than Mariota's but Mariota is better when it comes to decision making, accuracy and short/intermediate stuff.  Mariota, like Carr's receivers get YAC because they're extremely accurate.

Both orgs are bad and Ya'll need to fire Gus Bradley.

Compare their common opponents:  Tampa Bay, Buffalo, Indy, Miami. In those games, Mariota is 1-4, has fewer TDs and more INTs than Bortles, who is 2 and 2 in those same games. So far, Mariota has had two great games against teams with lousy defenses. In the other games he's been terrible. He WAS the reason the Titans lost to Buffalo, throwing an INT in the last minute of the game.  Bortles, on the other hand, mastered a beautiful last minute drive against the Bills that won the game for the Jags -- after the Jags defense gave up 21 points and nearly lost the game.  Mariota was directly responsible for the loss in Indy, throwing a last minute INT. Bortles played well enough to beat Indy. And if the Jags had a decent kicker in that game - one who could make XPs -it would have never gone to OT.

Bortles was masterful against the Dolphins. Mariota didn't last the game, and lost. Yes, Mariota beat Tampa Bay. But Bortles also threw 4 TDs against the Bucs, against one INT, which should have been good enough to win the game.  Again, the defense was gashed by the Bucs running game - not Bortles fault.

With Bortles, the Jags should have four wins.  Outside of the Bucs and Saints wins, the Titans have either lost their games BECAUSE of Mariota, or never came close to winning.

Outside of the Panther game, Bortles has been consistent this year. He puts up big numbers - lots of yards, lots of TDs, and yes, lots of INTs.  We all know he has accuracy issues, but that is something that can be fixed.  One stat that is very encouraging is that when Bortles is blitzed, his success is off the charts - better than most elite QBs.  Last year, he ranked near the bottom of that category.  So there is much reason for hope.

Yeah, Mariota is great when it comes to the short balls. So was David Garrard in 2007. It's not enough to be a great QB. Prolific QBs throw a nice deep ball. I contend that if Hurns or A-Rob were on the Titans, A-Rob wouldn't be exchanging jerseys with a CB like Revis, and Hurns would probably be out of the game right now. I contend that for Mariota to reach the next level, he's GOT to throw a more accurate deep ball. He's smart. But does he have the arm?

We can also argue durability, which can not be overlooked.  Bortles has taken far more hits than Mariota, and hasn't missed a snap. Mariota has already sat out what...two games?
