I agree with what Marks is saying overall. However, we are in year 3 of this rebuild; not year 1. There is a clear issue with coaching decisions and play calling that should be more clear of a positive in year 3; and it's not. Yes, players play, but coaches get said players ready to play and our 2nd half play shows a clear lack of coaching consistency. I never agree on changing coaching staffs during the year. There's usually a chance for more harm than good. However, I can no longer defend this. I can let go of losing to the defending champs and getting blown out. That's understandable. But losing to a deflated and underachieving colts with Luck on the sidelines, after having multiple chances to put the game away; destroyed what faith I had left. The players truly love Bradley and I wish he had what it takes; but this staff is not the answer. I hope I'm wrong and it does turn itself around; but my faith is gone.

GO JAGS!!

Im gonna be honest, i almost found myself actively rooting for the colts to knock it in on their last drive. To put the final nail in the Bradley coffin. It has been that unwatchable. I wouldnt have beem satisfied with a 16-13 win in that fashion anyway. Was a horribly executed game. Horrible.
I didnt want a 16-13 win to be a notch in his belt. He didnt deserve it.

ha ha ha thanks.  I actually am new here.  I've been a Jags fan since I was a kid and they were an expansion team, but I live in Utah and haven't ever thought to search for a fan forum online until like a week ago.  I have not been blocked.  Yet.....hopefully that doesn't happen.
Seriously... How much worse could it possibly get with a new coaching staff?
Quote:so what happens if we fire gus, and the team collapses? then what? 1-15?...I'd rather wait
What happens if we keep him? We go 3-13?

Not exactly a breath of fresh air.

I think that surprised no one.

Is 1-15 that much worse than 3-13?  Gus is not the answer.

No season would be complete without winning meaningless games to ruin in our draft position.

Yeah because picking at the top is always sure-fire.

Joker

Fowler

Bortles...

Not saying these guys are bad picks.... just saying... position 2 position 5.... you gotta do your homework when it comes to the draft and rely on luck a little

The law of statistics says we have to hit the jackpot on one eventually, right?

Of course, that goes back to the coaching.
Quote:Gus is no TC. In fact, Gus is probably the farthest you can go from a Tom Coughlin type of coach.

Gus is probably no TC, but at that time, TC was no TC if you know what I mean.   All TC had in his resume was BC beating Notre Dame one time.   After that, all he had was one 4-12 season with the Jags.   So at 3-6, everyone wanted him fired.   I'm just saying, let it play out to the end of the year.   We all (at least most of us) said, Gus needs to go at least 6-10 with the arrow pointing up for him to keep his job.   So we're 1-3 right now.   Let it play out and see what happens.   This is his make or break season.   So at least let him finish the season.

Coaching is a lot more than just the next game.  Coaching involves installing an entire system of offense and defense and that requires at least a complete offseason.   So if we change coaches now, we change nothing.    There's no way any coach can come in at mid season and make significant changes.

I've seen enough...

The TC vs GB comparison is terrible.  Coughlin has traits of a leader and is a future HOF coach.  GB is a joke.  I've been saying that since his team wasn't ready at the beginning of last season.  So far this season it's been a simple rinse and repeat.

I don't think anyone is advocating that there will be significant improvement.  The HC mostly sets the tone/culture of an organization.  By firing Gus, you simply will not have any more cheerleading for losses going on.  The OC and DC will still game plan as normal and the systems will not change until the Jags have a new HC.  Marrone (or whoever) can be the interim HC and ensure the team has practice schedules, game plans, etc.

I think the true gain is that the rest of the NFL world would now know we are searching for a HC so it gives Khan/Caldwell a head start.  I also think that this roster has more potential than what Mularkey started with.  That being said, I think the right head coach can truly turn this team around by next year (or at least show genuine progress) and either compete for the playoffs next year or at worst case in 2017.

ask Mularky...why keep asking questions that can't be answered? No one knows if it will better worse or no change...Just wait until there is a PROVEN known upgrade before we fire him

I'm not really saying that I'm expecting a new coach to come in mid season and lead us to 12-0.

But seriously, why keep him? Fire him, promote Marrone until we find a new guy in the offseason.

I'm not saying Gus is the answer, I just want to wait until there is a proven upgrade...No one on the current staff is proven to be be better

I'd rather win and pick higher...Low picks are for [BLEEP] teams, I'd rather not be in that catagory

Of course, that goes back to the coaching.
That means that everyone who plays the lottery should eventually hit it?

Exactly! So 3 systems for Blake in 3 years...He hasn't learned enough of the current one yet and neither have the players and yet people are wanting to fire everyone even before the halfway mark
No. The statistical odds of hitting the lottery and the odds of a top 5 draft pick panning out are completely different.

Which is exactly why caldwell will pick marrone to take over. His hire wasnt an accident.
