Quote:You're killing me with the 3-1 possibility. Simply put, I'll be ecstatic if we go 1-3, and for my 8-8 prediction to be true we probably do have to win one of the first four games. These teams we're facing out of the gate are not exactly slouches

P.S., congrats on 5000 posts. You're in esteemed company.

Loser mentality, or blind arrogance. I'll be ECSTATIC if we lose the first 3 of 4. As long as we win later to match my prediction. Just stop, 02. I respect you mate. But baseless takes make you look suspect. Stop mate. Freaking stop.

Well we still don't know the Tom Brady situation as I'm presuming he ends up playing. If he doesn't then maybe the Patriots game is not an automatic loss.

Thanks!

I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm regarding my prediction.  I realize how well we looked offensively in last year's pre-season.  And I know the wheels can fall off once the regular season starts.  The track record over the past 2 seasons with Gus is that we start really, really slow.

But I don't know, I don't think we should expect the same rubbish this year.  The Panthers are beatable.  The Dolphins are also beatable.   The only team I think we are clearly out-matched by (so long as Brady isn't playing come week 3) is the clots.

I don't see how you don't expect a strong start this year.  If Bradley is a legit HC, we should be sprinting right at the gate.  There's no way we should expect a drowsy start to the season.
I just see the first four games as really being against extremely formiddable teams. We never come anywhere near close to beating a Brady-led Patriots team as Belichick just seems to have the Jaguars number. Maybe they have a shot if Brady isn't playing. The Colts by all likelihood are going to whoop us.

The real questionmarks are the Panthers and Dolphins. While they are not invincible teams, these are two playoff caliber teams who probably end up ranking second in their divisions. I had the Panthers #1 in the NFC South, but the Saints have impressed the heck out of me this preseason making me think they might just surpass the Panthers who lost their star young WR. But the Panthers still boast a defense and running game that's among the best in the league. Their LBs may be the best, they have a young stud CB in Josh Norman who will probably take out whoever he covers, and their DL has some exceptional talent as well. On offense on top of an extremely stout running game, they have a QB in Cam Newton who just makes things happen both with his arm and legs.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, have been developing cohesive units on both sides of the ball for some time and this offseason added Sue to the middle of their DL. Pennington, meanwhile, has developed into one of the best young qbs in the game. Overall, the Dolphins are one of the better teams in the AFC. I can see the Jaguars somehow finding a way to go 1-1 against these two teams, although it's tough to say which one. Where I say 1-3 tops is my thinking they go 0-2 against the Patriots and Colts, although like I mentioned that might change if Brady actually is suspended.

In other words, it's not that I think the Jaguars will start sluggish. I'm expecting exciting games with both teams brawling for every yard. I just think it's not realistic to expect the Jaguars to beat both the Panthers and Dolphins as they are contending teams expected to win double digit games this year.

I know where you are going with this, 02. We have lost and lost and lost. We are scared of even the thought of possibly being good again. I get it. I'm just a language guy. To say, I'll be ecstatic if lose the first 3 of 4 is just, just...beyond my expresssivity. Rubs me the wrong way mate. We just don't damn know. We can start 4-0, and lose the next 12. Remember when 1-8 walked into Indy and beat 8-1?
I'm not saying you are convincing me...

But to hedge my hubris, I will say this:

I expect a team that looks like they legitimately are playing with every team this year.  I'm not expecting a strong first half with 2nd half collapse.  We should be right there in every game from the get go----Besides the clots game.  I still think they have our number.

But I'm pretty sure Brady isn't playing in week 3, so that game should be a win.

Carolina and Miami are teams that appear on the cusp again this year.  Both teams were pretty legit last year.  But you got to remember, as I'm sure you do, that we played Miami HARD last year.  The reason we lost that game was BB5's INTs.  I expect that not to happen this year.

That game better go down to the 4th Quarter.

I said this like 4 months ago in another thread---The Miami game is a bench mark for me.  If we lose that game and it's not close, it's not a good sign.  We played them last year.  We have a better QB now than we did last year based on BB5's development.  And our recievers are also more experienced as well as adding a shiny new TE.

I don't want to jinx it, but man...  That game to me looks winnable.  If we lose that game...  Well, it depends on how that game transpires.  But I'm expecting/demanding more from this team in 2015.  I think Bradley really needs to show the fans that he's got this under control.

I'm confident that with BB5's development, we are legitimately ready to turn the corner.  Starting 1-3 is not turning the corning in my mind.  Not with a brady-less Pats team, a Dolphin team that we really should have beat last year, and a Carolina team that has an over-rated QB that has lost his best WR...

It just seems like we're lined up to start strong.

You start strong, you become relevant, you feel good about yourself, you play with more zing. Contrary to what the masses may think, psyche plays a ton in player output, beyond X and Os.

You start 1-3 and make O2 ecstatic, lethargy sets in more readily than imaginable. Before you know it,

5-11 here we come. Some will call it improvement. Then we hope all over again next year. Well, some of us without football knowledge rather just wait to see what happens now...

Bloody good posts you've made in this thread Brit! I agree with you, it's difficult when you are so used to losing to get excited about anything, but I'm all in for the future of this team being good again.
People actually think Jacksonville's schedule is tough?

I see like 4-5 games where the Jags will be heavy underdogs in.

WOW
6-10 this yr, 9-7 next yr IMO.
Quote:If he doesn't atleast make it to 8-8 this season, I just don't see how Gus can be considered the "answer" at head coach.  We all saw Blake is a good QB that can win us games on his own.  I just don't know if he is able to win 8 without great leadership and game planning behind him.
a good qb is great but if receivers don't catch the ball or if there is a poor running game it doesn't matter

The only person that is reliable on offense right now is BB5. I just don't want to get my hopes high like every other year.

For some odd reason I have a feeling they'll make me want to punch my TV. I am happy to say, I think we have finally found a franchise qb. Boy, that only took 12 years.

This. Am I the only one who has zero faith in our receivers catching the ball?

Who's this Pennington you speak of. Ryan Tannehill is the Miami Qb. Chad Pennington is long gone. like 02 gone. You could work for Espn though

Lol.
Stands to reason. He has eye for talent too, comparable to TMD. We have great message board GMS.

thats 6-10. if we can get 6 wins we will be doing good.

5-11... i've gone through the schedule at least 6 times and I keep ending up at 5 wins. If Blake can play the whole season, which is rare, this team can get to 6 or7 wins, but if Henne gets on the field... here come the L's
