Quote:You are correct. Regardless - the fact that they were able to get him that late weakens the "you don't put a highly drafted CB at nickel" argument.

That wasn't the argument.

The argument is that like LT vs C, CB is a MUCH more premium position than nickel.

The guy who plays LT best, plays LT. The guy who plays CB best, plays CB.

If that makes nickel a need, you go get another nickel.

It's really not complicated at all.

It wasn't THE argument. But it was part of your post.

You're right - It really isn't complicated at all. We disagree on the value of the Nickel-Back. We don't disagree often as far as I've noticed and surely it's not a big deal. I'm sure we can move forward with out snide last words.

But- I'm afraid I'll not be changing my opinion because you continue to re-state yours.

Quote:Random but FA WR James Jones thinks he would be a good fit with the Jags:

Something tells me that interest isn't mutual though.
Having Olson here, if we haven't signed him already I doubt we would now.

Now god forbid injuries bite us, he would be an interesting contingency plan

Obviously, we don't currently have that other nickel.

Right now you have to adjust your lineup to get the best group on the field. If that means putting Colvin in the nickel in nickel situations, then you do it. Getting that guy who can play the nickel on a permanent basis may not happen until a future offseason. At this point, you have to do what is best for the team as a whole.

could be, but the receiver room is relatively packed as it is.

off top I can name Sterling, Closs, Walters, Copeland, Doss, Benn, Blackmon... Sanders... Greene, Hurns, Lee and Robinson

Yeah I agree, not really room for him. I like our current group

Clemons via O'Halloran:

Quote:“For the last, what, four years – I haven’t been to an off-season so this is the way I prepare myself,” he said in the Jaguars locker room. “Gus [Bradley] and I both know that – we talk about that during the off-season every year. I did the same thing in Seattle. That’s the way I prepare myself, that’s the way the coaches know I prepare and that’s the way I come and get my job done.”

Clemons said his off-season focus was dropping weight. He said he dropped 17 pounds between today and the end of the regular season and checked in at 248 when he reported to camp Monday.

“Going out today on the grass with the fellas was a great feeling,” Clemons said. “My body feels better than it did last off-season. I played last year at 255, 260 pounds in some games and I felt my productivity went down. My thing this year was to come back lighter and leaner so I can go out and play better than I did last year.”

Clemons disagreed that his absence was based on a feeling of entitlement.

“No, not at all,” he said. “My teammates understand me and I respect all of my teammates and treat them all the same. Whether I’m here or not here, I still stay in contact with all of them. There was nothing different [this off-season].

Wow. Down 17 pounds from last year sounds like he's been putting in some work while away.
No Marqise Lee this week. Should be ready for TC.

Quote:No Marqise Lee this week. Should be ready for TC.
Which was expected.

Tweet from Michael DiRocco (@ESPNdirocco) - #Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said Marqise Lee (knee) will be ready for training camp. Said Lee could have gone this week if it were game week.

I'm sure there's still going to be that segment of the fan base that needs to be outraged about this Clemons situation.

As most of us speculated, nobody in the locker room is going to care, but that won't stop these fans from talking about how divisive his not being there for voluntary work was/is going to be.

I'm glad Clemons have confirmed the different guy we'll see this year is actually the same guy. I was worried for a hot minute.

I hope that's a good thing.

I don't want him getting knocked around in the run game.

Remember, both he and Telvin line up on the weak side.

Not a lot of beef on that side.

He's still 250... Not really a lightweight

Compared to a 315 lb LT he is a lightweight.

I'd take a veteran who knows how to use all 250 pounds of their body (and has lost a step) against most 315 pound left tackles.
