He's the LEO right now, which is a speed position.  If his speed and technique are good, then a 315 lb tackle shouldn't matter.

He was getting knocked around in the run game at 265. His primary focus is pass rushing, so if it helps him in that respect, it's good.

Not sure why this is still a concern for people. Didn't we discuss this with every draft theory? If they can rush the passer, who cares? Leo's job is to rush, not set the edge, not play the run. Giving Clemons more agility/speed can only help IMO.

I know you really want to be outraged about the fact that he wasn't at OTAs.  You go pitch that little tantrum all you want.  In fact, go down to practice tomorrow an tell him what a deadbeat he is to his face.  I'm sure he'll break down in tears and tell you how right you are.

 

BTW, Bradley was disappointed, but he understood why Clemons missed OTAs, and he even said at the time that he knew he'd show up ready to go.  Guess what?  He did.  So, go fight that fight!  Show them what a passionate fans and advocate for the locker room harmony you are.

Compared to pass rushing specialists like OLB in a 3-4 he's quite similar.

Except he doesn't play a normal DE in a typical base 4-3. Our scheme is a hybrid 4-3, so our LEO is all but a rush 3-4 OLB.

Ok, compared to every other leo on our roster and just about every other leo in the league who are all pretty much 260+ he is a lightweight.

 

He weighs less than our otto LB. It doesn't matter what you want to call the position, he is still going to weigh less than 99% of the people who play at the line of scrimmage.

 

Relative to where he plays he is a lightweight which goes along with the original point, which the other poster tried to contradict, that there won't be a lot of beef on the weak side with Clemmons and Smith both being undersized players.
