Read the NFL.com analysis. Shaq Thompson lacks OLB skills needed to compensate for his size.
Telvin Smith was a fifth round pick.
Quote:Is Telvin Smith too small play outside linebacker? Because Shaq is bigger than him.
Quote:Shaq Thompson is listed at 228 and excels in coverage.
Lavonte David was 225 at Nebraska.
In todays game you need a LB or two that can cover and go sideline to sideline. 250 pound run stopping LBs aren't as important as they used to be.
The LB spot is evolving.
Quote:"Listed as" and "is" are not the same thing. He is expected to weigh only 219 pounds this week.
Keep in mind Shaq Thompson actually is a safety. He will just be drafted to play only one position instead of both safety and linebacker.
Quote:Mariota will also be throwing at the combine.Read Winston will as well. Good news for the jags. Either they go first two and we get the best defensive player or one slips to us and we get a quality haul. If it's one thing, Caldwell won't take a deal just to take one......has to be worth it

(February 18, 2015 10:47 AM EST)
Pittsburgh OT T.J. Clemmings measured in with 35 1/8-inch arms at the NFL Scouting Combine.
There has been debate about whether Clemmings (6'5/307) will play tackle or guard in the pros. The vine-like arms will help Clemmings' cause as an edge protector. Despite a rough Senior Bowl, noted offensive line guru Lance Zierlein believes Clemmings offers long-term Pro Bowl potential at left tackle.

(February 17, 2015 6:24 PM EST)
An AFC scout calls Missouri WR Dorial Green-Beckham "special," and believes he'd be consider the best receiver prospect since Calvin Johnson if not for his off-the-field issues.
"He's one of the best receivers I've ever seen," the scout said. "He's gigantic, he has tremendous body control, balance, he runs like a deer and can leap out of the gym and high-point the ball." Green-Beckham was a five-star recruit out of high school, but couldn't stay out of trouble at Mizzou, getting caught with marijuana before being accused of domestic violence. He transferred to Oklahoma, but had to sit out because of the NCAA's transfer rules. DGB is a top-10 talent who could fall to day two because of his character question marks.

Trae Waynes | CLG
(February 17, 2015 4:08 PM EST)
Michigan State CB Trae Waynes has reportedly been running sub-4.4 forty-yard dashes in his Combine preparation.
Per NFL draft insider Tony Pauline, Waynes also may complete 20-plus reps on the 225-pound bench press. Waynes is a technically savvy corner who can play press-man coverage after frequently doing so in college. Like former teammate Darqueze Dennard, Wayne is expected to be a first-round pick.

(February 18, 2015 1:00 PM EST)
Florida OT D.J. Humphries measured 6-foot-5, 307 at the NFL Combine.
Humphries was listed at 295 by the Gators and was rumored to play in the 280s and even high 270s during his final college season. He's drawn some comparisons to lightweight Cowboys LT Tyron Smith for those reasons. Highly athletic, some flags on Humphries are his injury history and functional strength.

Florida State OL Cameron Erving measured in with 34 1/8-inch arms and an 84 1/8-inch wingspan at the NFL Combine.
He offers quite a bit of length. Erving opened his college career at defensive tackle, became a starter at offensive tackle, and moved to center down the stretch of 2014. Erving is expected to be in the first-round conversation.

Cedric Ogbuehi | CLG
(February 18, 2015 12:44 PM EST)
Texas A&M OT Cedric Ogbuehi measured in with the second longest arms (35 7/8") among offensive linemen at the NFL Combine.
Only Florida's Trent Brown's arms are longer (36"). A favorite of Rotoworld draft analyst Josh Norris, Ogbuehi tore his ACL in the Aggies' bowl game and will also have to clear medical checks in Indianapolis. A surefire first-round pick before the injury, Ogbuehi may now be on the top-50 fringe.

Quote:Dont know much about Paul Dawson. Can someone enlighten me on him?
Hes better than McKinney,Perryman, and Kendricks??????
Quote:Possesses great agility for the position, showing quickness, balance and flexibility to avoid blockers and handle coverage responsibilities. Doesn't possess the preferred height for the position but sports a compact, well-proportioned frame and long arms. Quickly locates the football and shows terrific speed and effort in pursuit. Isn't afraid to attack gaps when he sees opportunities to make a play behind the line of scrimmage. Scrapes the corner and closes in a flash. Fluidity when changing directions and acceleration are also clear in coverage, where Dawson shows good awareness and ball-skills. Tackles low, wrapping ball-carriers securely.R. Rang ^

(February 18, 2015 4:33 PM EST)
Minnesota TE Maxx Williams measured 6-foot-5, 249 at the NFL Combine.
Perhaps most impressively, Williams has huge 10 3/8-inch hands, bigger than many NFL left tackles. His arm length of 33 1/2" will create for a wide catching radius. Williams is easily the premier tight end in this year's draft class, and still isn't 21 years old. He's a high-ceiling prospect.

LSU OL La'El Collins said at the Combine that he recently met with the Browns and they told him "you are our favorite for right tackle."
It's a potential indication the Browns aren't satisfied with incumbent RT Mitchell Schwartz, who scuffled as a run blocker in 2014. Collins is also being looked at by some teams as a potential guard. After watching his game tape, Rotoworld's Josh Norris believes Collins can succeed at left tackle.

Quote:Brandon Scherff | CLG
(February 18, 2015 2:13 PM EST)
Iowa T/G Brandon Scherff measured in with 33 3/8-inch arms at the NFL Scouting Combine.
They are short by NFL left-tackle standards, but not necessarily too short for Scherff to play the position in the pros. Jake Long, Joe Thomas, and Riley Reiff all have shorter arms than Scherff.
Whether Scherff is able to avoid a move inside to guard will depend on his ability to protect the edge. Arm length may work against him, but he can succeed with technique.
