Not really, and I pointed out there was a difference.

The fact still remains, you don't pass on someone that can make your team better just because you drafted someone the year before.

So if we draft Cooper and he has 600 or so yards receiving and a few TDs. Draft another WR in the first in the 2016 draft?
Quote:Hurns was the best rookie for one half of football. Robinson was the guy until he got injured.

You're sold on the talent behind him?

I've not said take him in the first.  I'm talking about second.

I go defense all day in the first.

Behind who? Robinson? I think the team will sign a veteran receiver and go into the year with that veteran, Robinson, Lee and Hurns and feel okay.

If the wide receiver available is significantly better than the other options at other areas of need, then yes.

My personal opinion is that Cooper should most certainly be considered as an option, but maybe not at #3. If we traded back to 10-20 though, and our other options that play different positions of need had dried up and trading down again wasn't an available option, then I would make him a Jaguar.
Quote:BAP for a team that already has 3 rookie WR(2nd yr next season) is to add yet another rookie WR? If I guy like Cooper was available in the 2nd round, take him, but at #3 he is a terrible pick for us.

I would not take a wide receiver in the second round either. However, BAP drafting does not take need into account.

What makes you think Amari Cooper would be a reach at #3? The most common projection for him is #4 to the Raiders.
If you go purely by BAP we could end up drafting a QB.

WR really isn't a priority for us after taking two in the second round last year. And I'd be amazed if our coaching team felt it was time to draft another one in the early rounds.

Anyway, back to TE comparisons, was there anything on Walford today ?

The BAP at #3 is definitely not a quarterback. It is either a wide receiver or a defensive lineman.

Back to the topic, I am interested a comparisoin of all tight ends expected to be picked in the first or second round.
Ok I'll take a stab at the TE's

Walford looks great. Longest arms of any passcatcher (WR or TE) and good sized mitts to top it off.

Nick O'Leary....baby arms. His arms are the shortest in the class (WR or TE) and a full 3 inches shorter than that average TE arms. Small hands too. I think he drops due to this.

Jesse James is an intriguing guy. Apparently weighted in with 10% body fat @ 6'7 261. Damn. I think PSU used him well as an H-back to get a free release, and it seemed to work really well in the red zone where he could just shrug off smaller LB's. The film I saw made him look like an excellent blocker (and apparently he beasts in the weight room) with some pass catching upside.  I've always wanted to see the H-back used here, might be an intriguing prospect given his sheer size.

Don't bother, these two clearly just watched the first game and googled the stats after, Lee came on strong at the end of the year, robinson looked great they clearly don't realise how much of an advantage Hurns had knowing the system, not saying he didnt play way but to place a knock on two wide receivers who looked good and played like good ROOKIE receivers is laughable,

Also Id like to point out during the second half of the year we basically stopped throwing down field which will be another reason Lee was utilised properly completely took away his pace...

I didn't say he would be a reach. I said we should consider him there, but opt to go in another direction. I haven't done a value board yet this year, but I would place his value according to my evaluation probably around 10, but he certainly wouldn't be a reach, even at #1.

We need a tight end who is very good at catching footballs. If Jesse James only excels at blocking, I am not interested. Is he the complete package?

Clive Walford is going to move up the boards next week if he runs under 4.5 in the 40.

under a 4.5? For a TE? Lol. Vernon Davis is the only one I can think of. I don't see that happening

How fast do most tight ends run?
Quote:How fast do most tight ends run?
4.5-4.7

Last 5 years have had 2 people break 4.5 as a Tight End. They are Dorin Dickerson and James Hanna.

Just to throw in some popular tight ends,

Vernon Davis 4.38

Jimmy Graham 4.56

Julius Thomas 4.64

Can we please stop with the 1st rnd wr talk-

J.Blaxmon is better than any receiver prospect in this year's draft and he will be back in FULL EFFECT! Or is it AFFECT?! Anywho... What the team does in free agency at edge rusher will determine Leonard Williams or that big nosetackle from Washington (if we trade back). Mark these words

We have a separate thread about Amari Cooper and Marqise Lee now so no, people aren't going to stop talking about first round wide receivers until Justin Blackmon is reinsstated.
Guess I'll go there and rant; possibly rave
