Quote:It was at Atlantic Coast HS from what I remember. He was out there droppin' bombs to Jarret Dillard and Charles Sharon. Getting Ketchman all hot and bothered.

All I remember Leftwich doing was going on bike rides with Chris Naeole in the offseason.

For a good while, Ketchman took the role of QB cheerleader trying to help reattach the fanbase fracture.  His last few weeks before leaving for Green Bay, though, he opened up and wasn't so coddling.  I was shocked.
Quote:Scared to get hit?  Do you even remember the Gabbert era?  The guy took a royal beating last year behind that line, but he wasn't curling up in the fetal position the way Gabbert did at times.

yet?

does that make you feel better? I didn't say he went full blown gabbert

Nah you're missing the mark with your trolling son. Bortles did some bad things last year, but not once did he remotely resemble the Real American.
Quote:regardless of how tough people want bortles to seem, he's still human and you're flat out blind if you didn't see some forms of gabbert come out of him towards the end of last season.. happy feet, not going through his reads, just wanting to get rid of the ball, scared to get hit

I like bortles, I hope he's the man I really do, I just hope to God that we didn't ruin him

the way he went through his reads, how quickly he got his feet set, the velocity he was throwing with.. from his first few starts to what we saw at the end it was like watching a prime brady turn into david carr

I think you're the one who needs a visit to Lenscrafters.  Bortles is many things, but afraid to get hit isn't one of them.

No one wants to get hit, but there is a big difference between not wanting to get hit and letting the fear of the pass rush override your ability to play QB. I don't doubt Bortles doesn't want to get whacked 50+ times again this season, but I also don't think the first thing on his mind every play is getting hit on that play.

^^^ clueless ^^^
I think the Jags may have finally hit on some good luck with Blake. I think he's going to be a good one. He seems like he loves the game and wants to be the best,he's also mature for a young guy and shows great leadership. All the other stuff will come with time, but good character you're either born with it or not. Crazy to think I actually had wanted Manziel. Ugh....can you imagine? I truly believe Blake will be very good.

Why has this thread been hijacked by the horror days of Gabbert?

I think it's pretty clear who is delusional here if you think there's even the slightest comparison between Bortles and Gabbert beyond them both playing the same position for the same team.   Completely clueless, but keep up the good work.  If you're gonna be good at something, do it the best you can.

sigh, what's it gonna take for you idiots to realize a bad line ruined gabbert and it's blinding you to the fact that it'sg etting to bortles

Bad line ruined him...  Had nothing to do with his inherent suckage.

He's the quintessential practice All Pro who can't play under the lights, when the real bullets are flying.

never said he was an all star...

Comparing Gabbert to Bortles is idiocracy.

Once again, the only idiot reaching here is you.  You're just not bright enough to recognize it.

Clearly, it had nothing to do with him.  It was all about the line.  When that defense runs its course, blame the coaching.  Then blame the lousy receivers.  Then blame the lack of a running game.  Whatever it takes, blame anything but Gabbert for his own ineptitude.

Bwahahahaa Bortles got sacked more than Gabbert did (In 1 year EDITED lol). And yet he still stood in the pocket and took it. Never once resembled the cowardly Gabbert. Did Gene Whiff and company ruin Gabbert? Maybe a little. But the overall responsibility to being a coward in the pocket or not, is on Gabbert. Bortles is nothing like Gabbert. If you see that, you're wanting to see it. Please.......

GO JAGS!!
