Quote:An offense that keeps the ball for more than 3 plays sure could've helped the defense regain some air.
Agreed.  3 3 and outs to start the 2nd half didn't help the defense one bit.
Good take away for my family....

My wife actually cared yesterday.  She is really a casual fan.  She tends to lock on to particular players and get more interested as they play better.  Yesterday was the first time she was emotionally invested in over 5 years.  That is progress.  Works out good for me as well Big Grin

I am not ok if they think getting 4-5 wins this year is enough.

I know they're "building" but this "expecting to lose" mentality some fans have is ridiculous.

This is year 2 of the rebuild. Some franchises in year 2 are already in the playoffs. I'm not expecting that, but I am expecting a significant improvement over last year both in how we look AND our win total.

And our defense stopped the eagles and forced a 4th and 1.... The defense was late to get lined up because Poz wasn't in the game.

That TD is on Bradley IMO.

He needed to call timeout on that one. He could've helped put our defense in a better position to succeed there. He, like Henne, should not be immune to criticism.

Nobody is saying otherwise.

It was a team loss.

Yeah. This game is on Henne and the people who made the decision to start him. Preach let the best player play and then sit the best qb. Not sure why some think you need to coddle a qb. He's not learning anything on the bench.

Bortles was making checks and audibles at the line of scrimmage in pre season. I'm pretty sure he has a good enough grasp of the offense to play.

Don't understand the wait til the roster is perfect mentality either. Having a good qb hides those deficiencies so why wouldn't you play him?

It's not about expecting to lose.  It's about moving in the right direction.  The wins will come.  The team was still in the game going into the 4th quarter, and even the final score doesn't reflect how close it actually was.  Philly may be one of the toughest opponents this team faces this year, and despite being one of the youngest rosters in the league, they went toe to toe with them and had a chance to win late in the game.  We didn't see that early in the season last year.

If you have a 17-0 lead you should win. The win should have been there. If your qb only gets past the 50 on like 2 drives you're probably playing the wrong guy.

As I said, they better come... They better come this year. Anything less than 6 wins is a horrible season, regardless of how we look.

We let one get away. The QB and the coaching staff needs to look themselves in the mirror and ask if blowing a 17 point lead and allowing 34 unanswered points acceptable?

I frankly would like to see something other than the "just keep getting better" and "we let some opportunities out on the field".... The reason we've gotten better is because we paid some veterans to come in on defense and show these other guys how it's done.

Was this a move in the right direction?

We lost by 17 after being up by 17.

"Hey, at least we didn't lose by 30!"

A move in the right direction is to put away a team that is losing by 17.

You don't think they're doing exactly that after blowing a lead?  Seriously?

This team is already better than last year.  The progress should continue, and as it does, the wins will come.
Quote:The offensive line is already improved over last year.  They gave up 6 sacks last year on opening day.  How many did they give up yesterday in comparison?  3?

The run blocking is a concern, and there are issues to be addressed on the line, but compared to last year, it is better, and that hopefully continues to improve as the season progresses.

True but the Eagles pass defense is horrible thus allowing the ball to get out of Chad's hands quicker too & the Eagles pass rush isnt great either... yet they did make Chad fumble for a touchdown towards the end of the game....

just saying...

this wasnt a true test of the Oline ... but you got to love the praise that Nick Foles gave our Defense for getting him out of his game in the 1st half....

Special teams stunk yesterday from top to bottom.

We couldn't get any sort of a rushing attack going.

It's all Henne's fault.

The fumble at the end of the game was what many here love to refer to as garbage.  Let's blame it on Henne that a defender came in unblocked from  his blind side and knocked the ball out.

Hardly a feat. The jags of 2013 especially in the first half of the year was the worst and least competitive team I have ever seen.

We're still losing by double digits, now the game was just out if hand at a later time. Yay progress.

I'm just frustrated. I believe they're building something good as long as Bortles is who we think he is.

I'm also frustrated by our fans being ok with losing yesterday's game. We've gotten so used to being bad that it was expected. It was expected we would lose, and we lost.

But when you're up 17 at the half, even I was expecting us to pull off the upset. I mean..... How bad do you have to be to blow a 17 point second half lead?

I don't see any fans happy with losing, but feel free to interpret it that way to stoke your outrage.  I'm certainly not happy they blew a big lead, but I'm not racing down to the stadium with a torch and my pitchfork to demand that they do what I want because they lost yesterday.

NOBODY expected that team to go to Philly and win yesterday, so I'm not sure what your expectations were.

Nobody expected us to win, but after being up 17 at the half... Everyone SHOULD expect to win.

I'm not calling for anyone's head. I'm letting it known that a 5 year rebuild is not alright with me.

Year 2 of the rebuild needs to be better. And yes I'm talking about Ws.

If it's not, Gus and the entire gang should be on a very short leash. I don't like the public and the radio guys talking about how it's "only" year 2 of the rebuild and how we've got a "long ways to go"... I'm sorry, but in this age of the NFL, a successful rebuild shouldn't take longer than 3 years

It was ONE game, against a team that is expected to be a playoff or even Super Bowl contender.  Yes, they blew a big lead, yes they could/should have played better after building that lead but I DID see signs of improvement.  The wins will come if they keep improving.

I've seen playoff teams blow bigger leads.  It happens.
