Quote:Why does his contract matter? You've told me specifically in this thread that the Jags have enough cap space.

Hill's contract is a fraction of Marcedes'.

Marcedes' is amongst the highest paid players at his position and has never come close to living up to his contract once he got his money.

If you have to ask why that matters...

I love when people flail and start throwing out red herrings. Wanting to take a flier on a WR that will cost basically nothing but has potential to pay dividends is the same as wanting to keep an overpaid TE with a capped ceiling?

I feel like I'm talking to a wall when I use the phrases "low risk/high reward" and "return on investment".

The only people throwing out red herrings are the ones bringing up Jimmy Smith, Cecil Shorts and Marcedes Lewis.

Think about this for a second.

This is two dozen pages about a huge bust.

And the only reason is so two knuckleheads can thump their chest and say "told ya so" in the unlikely event that Hill goes somewhere and turns his career around.

And when he busts on another team, the same knuckleheads will say "yeah but Jerry Sullivan could've helped him".

So Stephen Hill, 23....2nd rounder.....is a "huge bust" yet, haven't I seen you in past years defend Reggie Williams, Mattloaf, Nelson and others who were being declared busts before their 3rd seasons and you citing you have to give a player 3 years before making any discernible "bust"/ "not bust" determinations??

You saw me defending Reggie Williams? You remember what I said on this message board in 2006? You remember what I said about a player that has been gone for six years?

Funny you left out the rest of my post...because its completely true.

Fascinating.....give him a S. Marks 1 year 'prove it' deal.

If true, we've probably got no shot to land him now. He'll get to pick his next destination. Yes, it will probably be a 1 year type of "prove it" deal, too.
Wouldn't say we have "NO" shot to land him.  If he's serious about improving his craft and maximizing his long term earnings potential I see no reason he wouldn't want to come here and learn from the best coach in the business.  If Larry Fitzgerald swears to the Gospel of Jerry, then it could have some stroke with him.  On the other hand, if Hill wants to play the 'disrespect' card and think it's everyone else's fault he didn't succeed then he might not be long for this league anyway.

Where has Hill played any disrespect card?

Are you still holding him accountable for the words of his agent??

Clearly, 31 teams have failed to see he eliteness in those hands of stone.

Fair enough, I am basing that on the words on his agent.  I have NOT heard anything directly out of him.
If he goes unclaimed I would definitely not mind the jaguars giving him a chance.
I wouldn't mind giving him a chance.....

next offseason.

next offseason.

It would take him a while to learn the offense for sure.

One week before the season starts, There's no time for a reclamation project.

No need having a guy waste a roster spot the entire season just for a chance to maybe do something with him next offseason.

Do you also think Stephen Hill is a bust?

Hasn't passed the ever important "eye" test yet.

But he sure seems to be the apple of your eye.
