I just don't get the odd fixation on Branch. You can say anything you want, but at the end of the day, Branch totaled 6 QB sacks last season, and thats not bad improvement after a rookie year that showed very little. He was night and day better by seasons end than the player that was under Mularkey's watch.
Branch has a very good chance of hitting double digit QB sacks this season with only a little more improvement/ refinement to his game.
Theres better targets to hate on this team if thats your objective. Like Marcedes Lewis, for instance.... B)
I always find myself in the most ridiculous arguments because moronic people such as FBT has to argue everything I say.

while I agree FBTs arguing at times seems senseless dont you think that just maybe you are wrong sometimes? Calling people morons and idiots isn't gonna garner you any respect. It just makes you sound like a 13 year old.

Speaking of 2nd half improvement, 'cedes killed it in that department scoring a receiving TD in four consecutive games down the stretch, a feat which tied the franchise record. He was finally being put in situations where he could succeed, lining up out wide, particularly down by the goal line and low and behold he came through. I wouldn't be at all shocked if he came through with a 2010 esque season this year if they continue to work on getting him involved.

FBT has more than earned my insults, He insults me every chance he gets. And in this case i'm not wrong, nothing I've said in this thread is wrong. If you guys think 7 sacks in 28 games and being terrible against the run = good DE you need to watch non jaguar football. I know our DLine has been awful for a long time but that's not good for a DE.

Jesus kid. What don't you get? For starters he didn't even log snaps in 6 of those games, so that brings the total down to 7 in 22, which averages out to about a five sack season, which isn't that bad for a rotational lineman. Considering he got limited snaps in most other games, and given the fact that he has yet to start, that on the surface is not that bad. Take the fact that he has 5 sacks in his last 7 games, when he was given the most playing time and that puts him on pace for an 11.5 sack season as a rotational D-lineman, which is phenomenal. Obviously the challenge will be to sustain that level of play over a full sixteen, but the kid has a chance to be a good player and he has a spot on the team. If you just take off the blinders and look from an objective standpoint, the numbers tell the story of a rapidly improving young DE. Just for fun, I bet you couldn't tell me what Cecil Shorts' rookie year line was? 2 receptions for 30 yards and a TD. I bet if it was up to you he would have been cut and labeled a scrub......

while I agree FBT dosent always act his age it's how you respond man. 7 sacks in 28 games is not good but 5 in 7 is. If Branch ends up with 10 sacks next year that's going to be a tremendous improvement from what we've had here the last 5 years. I think he's still improving and had a good ceiling here. We are all entitled too our opinions but if we could keep it civil here (that goes to everyone, mods too) then this board would be a lot better.

That 7 in 28 sack isn't even really accurate. He has been active for that many games, but only logged snaps in 22 of those. 7 for 22 is the more accurate number, but for future projections it's hard to ignore what he did down the stretch last season. The same goes for Babin.

This thread is about what Branch can be, not what he has been.
Did he show improvement down the line? Yes.
According to Gus Bradley, he is still improving.
So why can't he produce at a higher level next season?
Gus seems to mention often that he likes Branch. I don't mind the kid at all, he definitely has the potential. Our d line as a whole has a lot of potential..
Just hoping he can build on what he finished off with.

Yep I got confused, oh well it's still nothing to be proud of.. I'd love to see him flip a switch and just dominate but I can't even imagine him being good after watching him get man handled for 2 straight years.

manhandled? Kinda like you in this thread?

Everything I've said about Branch has been true, he's not good and running against air to a QB is not impressive. So no, nothing like that
