Whats the over/under? Looking at the Rams D he has a slim chance of making 3 string, but will be better suited for PS to help develop his technique if he is serious about starting full time, or be a solid backup.

I think he will make the team/practice squad. The Rams can make a lot of money off him.

After Manziel he had the most jerseys sold this weekend.  Pretty crazy for a guy drafted that late.

I think cutting him will be a PR nightmare.

The Rams are stuck with him for better or worse.

I think he can be productive enough for a few years to warrant a roster spot, probably on special teams.  Once the novelty wears off, he's just another guy that will be churned through the bottom half of an NFL roster.

Sam is the 2nd best selling Jersey in the NFL right now after Manziel.  Interesting.

He's just another football player.

All the hype has to do with something else altogether.

If he wants to just be a football player, he would end the circus because while it may further his name in media affairs, it won't do a thing but be a detriment to him as a football player.

Stupid, stupid distraction.

It became clear when the draft hit the 5th round that ESPN and NFLN were determined to guilt a team into drafting him.  They ran heart string plucking videos, and ESPN had a camera sitting in his living room while he waited for the call.  They kept going back to him and saying "well, he's a tweener.  He's not a great pass rush guy, but he's okay.  He's not a guy who can put his hand on the ground, but maybe he can."  Everything they were saying about his ability screamed late round pick or even undrafted, but they were still trying to push teams into making the call constantly flashing back to him in his chair, and by constantly talking about him.

He's the first outwardly gay player who might make it to the NFL.  You know what?  If there's an active player on a roster already, and he happens to be gay, now is the time to come out.  Steal some of Sam's thunder.
To me, he looks like a practice squadder. Fringe measurables, but good college production. Needs to find a role in the pros, and arguably couldn't have landed in a tougher situation than the Rams in terms of breaking the DL rotation. Whatever happens with him, I hope it's based on his merit as a football player and not all the hype surrounding him. In that regard, I think he landed in a great situation--Jeff Fisher is not the type of coach to let fan sentiment decide his roster.

I'll say what I've been saying about him this whole time....

He's slow and he's not a scheme fit for every team. He can whine and blame his being gay for his not being drafted till 7th round (which he did), but thats typical sour grapes.

He was drafted pretty much right where he should have been. He's lucky he even got drafted.

I'm sure when he gets cut, (whenever this is) he'll pull the gay card.

I agree with Dakota's take. If he had the sense to do the smart thing not only for him but even for his cause, he would have shut up and acted like any other football player thats trying to make a team/ roster spot.

I'm glad we are not going to get the circus media following during our training camp.

Regarding his little boyfriend, I thought he was pretty cute.  I'd hit it.

Imagine drafting Manziel and Sam on the same team?  The circus would be insane.

I'll give you one better....imagine had Sam been drafted to a team Tebow had been on!!! :woot:
Now I'm all for gay rights. I basically think any man who has a problem with gay people is very insecure in themself, but this sort of thing makes me sick.

The Dolphins said Jones cannot return to the team until he "undergoes and completes educational training."

Sounds like something out of a dystopian novel. If Don Jones is a sad little closet case, who gets angry at the strange feelings he feels when he sees two men kiss, let him share it so we all know what a pathetic worm he is.

Mike Florio has suggested that the NFL and NFLPA need to agree on standards for disciplining players that make intolerant remarks. This doesn't often happen, but I agree with him on that point.

I almost think it was a publicity move on the Dolphins part.  Don Jones isn't exactly one of their best players.  The fine is undisclosed.  I doubt they had him tweet it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're only punishing him to grab some good publicity for 'standing up for gay players'.
I'm a Mizzou fan and he's a beast on the field.  If he shows the same tenacity as he did at Mizzou, he'll make the team.  I'm rooting for him.

Yeah.

1st: Manziel

2nd: Sam

3rd: Clowney

4th: Bridgewater

5th: Bortles
The crazy thing about it is that it is so easy to say you are ok with a gay player but when you see the kiss it really brings things into reality.  After the intitial shock, I must admit that I'm to the point that "it is what it is".  No biggie.

.... now I just wish the media would turn their attention toward the Rams 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks.

Ah, the canned "person x must be a closet gay since they don't agree with the gay lifesytle"....yawn.

Sooo tired of that.

I don't like lima beans....that doesn't mean I somewhere subconsciously like lima beans.

What happened to that Dolphins player is akin to something predicted in Goerge Orwell's 1984 with the thought police.

Got to go through this part first.  Eventually it won't be a big deal, but it still is.

I know people keep talking about his measurables, but he showed up on tape.  I think he makes the team.
