The Henne signing is looking better and better facing Clowney, Watt, et al
Quote:I'm really curious if a trade was offered. Buffalo jumped quick to #4. Could we have traded to 9 and still gotten Bortles or did Cleveland like him and that's why they traded.

Are we going to continue this stuff forever?

It was revealed our pick caused the trade up.  There was no offer for us to trade out.

Agree.

But it's the same group of scouts.

Are you saying that Buffalo wasn't interested in Watkins UNTIL the Jags took Bortles?

Don't be ridiculous.

This is Gabbert version 2.1! All the measurables but no substance. Hope they don't throw him to the wolves like Gabbert was thrown.

Not sure how you know what scouts we have fired, and haven't fired.  Or new ones that we've hired since.

But I doubt Gene Smith listened to his Scouts in the first place.

Gene: I LIKE ALUALU!

Scouts: Who?

Gene: *mishears them saying Alualu instead of "who"*  Exactly!  No problems right?

Scout: ...Can't we get a competent boss for once.

Where did you gather that?!

Since we didn't select Watkins, they moved up as high and as fast as they could to get him since he was still on the board.

The idea is CLE would have taken Bortles in lieu of trading down, ya dingus.
CB run

Lol, poor Henne. He'll be our guinea pig as we try to figure out how we are going to possibly block Clowney and watt
I did not read this thread but Buttles? Really? Buttles? Caldwell reveled his rookieness.

I'm not disagreeing. Just stating facts. Dave has gambled his job on Bortles. For his sake, I hope he pans out.
Wish my new jersey would have said Manziel on it but now it will say Bortles..

In Gus I trust.
So... I want a count of hands.  How many of you bashing Blake Bortles have actually seen him play multiple games?

Very poor pick. I feel sad for Gus. Caldwell has some serious work to do to make up for this pick. I have the feeling that we have been punked.
Ridiculous, worst part is I called this during the Fiesta Bowl and spent 4 months convincing myself I was wrong, getting hyped up for the draft. ONLY TO HAVE IT COME TRUE!!!

We could have taken Watkins at 3 and still have gotten JFF/BB. Just stuuuuupid. The leadership within the organization is so pathetic, the decision making is horrid.

It is just impossible to rationalize taking another weak armed QB after the Gabbert botch. We missed out on Big Ben because of taking Byron Leftwhich the year before, we moved up to take Gabbert who was free falling on everyone's board. So in a draft we know the QBs are on a landslide towards the second round we go and take a QB???

Count my hand. Buttles skills will not convert to the NFL. Bank on it. At three?  Suck, just suck.

So what? If the Jags make the same trade with Buffalo, then what Cleveland would have done is immaterial. Buffalo gets pick #3 (Watkins). The Jags get pick #9 and Buffalo's 1st round pick in 2015. Maybe under that scenario the Jags lose out on Bortles. But we get a great pass rusher and an extra very good player in the 2015 draft. And maybe Cleveland Doesn't take Bortles.

If Buffalo wanted Watkins, wouldn't it have been better to trade ahead of the Jags to get him? If the cost of the Jags pick was the same as the Cleveland pick, wouldn't it have made sense for Buffalo to agree to that trade with the Jags? That guarantees Watkins at the same price.

And Blake Bortles doesn't pass the QB Name test either. How stupid are we. Can you see Gus Johnson screaming his name? nope. not at all. That's a clear red flag.
