Have you all seen this dude's girlfriend? You don't land that without talent.

Quote:I'd rather have Bortles, and whoever we wind up picking in round 2 than having Carr.  I wouldn't want Carr in the 7th round.  He's his brother all over again.  Their scouting reports are pretty equal.
I don't disagree on the scouting reports, but coming into an expansion is a tough job. They had no protection for him. I think Carr has more potential than Bortles, especially when you consider where we drafted Bottles versus where we could have gotten Carr.

No, he was doing a great job of that from the beginning.  He's just piling on at this point.  I was surprised you could stack it that high.
Quote:THANK YOU!

Exactly.... and as we see... we coulda traded back twice and still have gotten him.

Or grabbed watkins and then traded up to the late teens and got JFF

GOD I HATE THIS CRAP

It's not possible they had no interest in a micro-QB, right?
Love this pick, :thanks:

I do have to say - God how great would it be to see Houston draft another Carr.

ITT: A bunch of people who didn't watch a second of Blake Bortles in college. He came up so huge for us in so many games, and is really good at getting out of the pocket, keeping plays alive and keeping his eyes downfield.

I don't see it that way Tim, I simply don't believe that you or many others think this was a good pick. If you say so I will call you a liar. I am a Jags fan through and through but this pick sucks. I will gladly eat crow if proven wrong .

That's a strong possibility. TMD would implode should that happen.
Watkins is for sure, Bottles is so much less. That enough should show that we took a huge risk with Bottles.

Even Walterfootball who hates the Jags, gave us a B-.

Some people were even mocking Bortles to the Texans.

Oh dear. The not so clever, dim witted wanna be comedian/GM may need to just avoid this to perpetuate the notion that nobody likes this pick.

No one is giving you the benefit of the doubt of being "right" to begin with, and not sure why you feel you should be.
Quote:What actually happened makes sense.

However, you are making nonsense of it.

What happened is that Caldwell chose to take Bortles at 3, and did not trade down.

There could be several reasons that Caldwell did not trade down:

1. He did not want to risk losing Bortles for just an extra 1st next year.

2. He tried but did not succeed in trading down.

3. He would have made the trade but Buffalo didn't try because they expected the Jags to want a lot more.

If it were cases 2 or 3, then I'd say Caldwell is not a very good GM if he can't engineer a trade that the Cleveland GM made.

Case 1 reminds me of the Alualu pick. Our GM falls in love with a player who was expected to go later, and fears trading down. Yes, yes, Miami was going to take Alualu, Cleveland was going to take Bortles.

If he makes the trade, the worst case is we get (say) Barr, plus an extra 2015 1st round pick. Considering it's Buffalo it will probably be a high pick. Best case is that Bortles is still there at 9. Maybe Bortles is that good, and Caldwell made a great move. I hope so. But I saw the Fiesta Bowl and was not impressed.

Youve been proven wrong in this very thread, have your first helping of crow on me.

I am going to wait and see.  Yes the pick is a shock.  Does that make it bad?  Time will tell

Bortles was pegged as the first pick in quite a few mock drafts over the last several months. That tells me he wasn't really as much of a reach as you think.

I certainly do think it was a good pick, and I can prove it.

Quote:#3 but replace Manziel with Bortles or Bridgewater.  That'd actually be fantastic.

Guess the Rams GM sucks, cause they couldn't trade down with Buffalo either!

If he makes the trade, worst case scenario is that we miss out on a QB this year, and then next year we miss out on one again.  We wind up having to stick with Chad Henne for 3 more years.
