Quote:It's hard to believe anyone posting here really believes they are such a good judge of NFL talent they can call Caldwell a moron.

well many people thought Gene was a moron and he was...
I trust the pick.

Quote:1:45 in and he looks so unimpressive, I had to turn it off.

LOL
Quote:got rid of gene smith and got another gene smith. dear lord, help us
seriously gene, you are a fool if you think you can compare anyone in this new regime to gene smith
Lets be happy that Caldwell got his pick of all the QBs. Ill wait till Bortles starts sucking to get pissed off.

I'm sure they were talking trade for most of their time on the clock and just couldn't get a deal done.

Bortles is a surprise, but not a disappointment. We might have a guy like Roethlisberger in this selection. Time will tell. If he turns out to be that caliber, I doubt many here would complain. We shall see.

you should watch his bowl game, or the penn state game, or any of his other games.  Other than his two really bad INTS in that game he played better as the game went on.

I think this is considerably different. Lots of folks had Bortles in the top 5. There's little doubt he'd going to be a franchise QB, the big question is if they couldn't have gotten a better defensive player.
Quote:LOL

Care to elaborate? All I see are WR screens and short passes where he locks onto a target and throws it.
Bortles will be amazing.

I'm not just saying this just in case he is and I can pull this comment later down the road and say I told you so
I really don't like the pick just because it sacrifices value. I'm tired of reaches. Maybe buffalo didn't offer us that same trade that Cleveland got, but if buffalo offered and we decided to stay put to reach for bortles...

Like I posted earlier, this is a make or break draft. Bortles is definitely not who I expected. We better be trading up to get him a WR or C.
Quote:Blaine Gabbert all over again -- terrible pick.
not gabby 2.0, watch blake on draft breakdown he doesnt get scared in the pocket
Quote:Pleased with Bortles, but got to wonder why we couldn't make the trade with the Bills. Think the Browns got a great deal there.

Brave call by Caldwell.

Welcome to the Jaguars. Blake

Im sure this was offered to the jags but didn't take it cuz they thought he'd be gone. Maybe other gms had him rated high on their boards
Quote:I really don't' see how people make comparisons to gabbert, he demonstrated in pretty much every game that he'll stay in the pocket take a hit and deliver the ball. The only thing I"m worried about is the Romo style mistakes that make you scrath your head.

Every single rookie QB I've seen play makes the Romo style mistakes. Luck had a boatload of them in his rookie season and last season too.

They all make them. It's just part of the process unless maybe you are a game manager QB who is too scared to take a chance and always makes the checkdown throw.
we need to get Dee Ford in the 2nd round, and i may feel a little better

He was the best QB in this draft w/ out question, but one. The one thing that concerned me was the few years of proof..

But it is highly possible and quite common these days for individuals that play sports, to all of a sudden have the "lightbulb" turn on, and bloom later in life. Very often the athletes who bloom later in life, were able to get by based off shear physical ability, especially if they have a physical advantage, like Blake has probably had most of his life, given his size.

Just by appearance, when looking at the easily available and vast amount of highlights and tape online, the improvement he's shown is night and day, like a completely different, enhanced player, who just somehow "got it" and based off my eye test, he looked the better QB than both Teddy and Manziel.

Agreed, I remember in the middle of the season people were complaining when it looked like we were gunna get a win and not get our pick of Qbs, we got our pick of all the Qbs and now people are still complaining because it's not TB or Manziel
I love the jags. Doesn't mean I have to agree with our draft picks. We have habitually sucked in the draft.
Quote:He lit up the room in interviews.

Interviews don't win football games.
