Quote:lol @ Weeden being better than Henne.
I tossed him in there because I don't know whom most consider the starter in Cleveland.

I like the 11th doctor's list, too.  I'd even take a chance on a guy like Freeman or Flynn before giving Henne a sweet deal.
Quote:My point is, if you don't have a quality backup QB to come in a possibly win and lead the team for a few games, (which Henne has done), you are going to have a complete collapse. If you can't see it, it's really not my problem. It's not hard to figure out.

Yes, terrible for a starter. Terrible for a backup? No.

Henne is not a backup that will come in and win games.

He's a backup that when he's in the game the coach has him hand the ball off as much as possible and prays he doesn't have to pass it because if he does he's throwing a pick, because that's just how he operates in pressure situations.

Most teams don't have a great backup and just count on their QB not getting hurt. Henne isn't particularly valuable as a backup and he's definitely not starting material.
Quote:(in no order)

1. Josh McCown

2. Ryan Fitzpatrick

3. Matt Cassel

4. Kellen Clemmens

5. Jason Campbell

6. Michael Vick

7. Taravis Jackson

8. Matt Flynn

9. Chase Daniel

10. Case Keenum
Matt Flynn, Case Keenum, Jason Campbell, Kellen Clemmens, Chase Daniel, Michael Vick, and Matt Cassel are NOT better than Chad Henne. Especially with the amount of talent on some of those teams.
I don't really care if henne signs or not provided if he signs he signs to a short term deal at a reasonable amount

The front office are aware he isnt the answer and the QB situation will be addressed in someform this year

It looks like Caldwell is confident he can revamp the oline either in the draft or more likely in fa

I would rather have henne bed them in early on as he knows the system than put a young QB in there to get mauled

Vick isn't better than Henne?  What are you smokin?
Quote:So you agree that Henne is terrible and still want to sign him? Makes zero sense to think that way. Terrible is terrible. You seem to think throwing the word back-up in there makes it acceptable to sign a terrible player to that role. You do realize back-ups become starters when injury occurs don't you? You know, the only reason henne was playing last year.
Henne is good depth whether you like it or not. I'm not the GM, and neither are you. We don't make the decisions. Caldwell believes Henne is a good back-up and good depth. That's why he's our #1 target in F/A. I agree.
Quote:Vick isn't better than Henne?  What are you smokin?
No, he's not.
Quote:No, he's not.

Yes he is.

If your about to play a football game and you had to choose between Henne and Vick, you are going to go with Vick every single time.

Chase Daniel is the one you might have an argument for.  But he played for the Chiefs, and they weren't exactly heavily loaded on offense.  I might take Henne over Chase Daniel in the end.  But the others, I'd much rather have.

I'd rather sign the best 3 interior o-line free agents on the market and let the rookie in there to start growing.

Ill take everyone on this list over Henne.

I'm definitely not. I want the QB who can actually play a full game. Check his stats. They are not exactly mind-blowing.

Well then I guess we disagree.

Caldwell does have the final answer, though. And Henne is our #1 F/A target for a reason.

And I forgot how impressive Henne's stats are.  It took him like 4 starts to throw a TD.  At least Vick can move an offense.
Did someone say Case Keenum is better than Henne too? What the fudge?

Henne is a quality back-up. As a starter? No. As a back-up? I'd consider us pretty fortunate to have him considering the teams last year who had their back-ups step in and get worked.

We will agree to disagree on Henne's quality as depth. The second part of your response as to Caldwell's opinion on Henne seems to be correct and that gives me pause as to his train of thought as it pertains to Henne. I hope it is more based in the relative safety net of continuity than that he actually thinks he is good enough to win games. I can somewhat understand that thinking. Otherwise I will have to question Caldwell's ability to evaluate QB play.

Yeah, Henne definitely has the offense Vick had.

With the way Foles stepped in, I'd say Michael Vick is actually pretty mediocre.

Until he inevitably fumbles it.

Pretty mediocre is better than horrid the last time I checked.
