Quote:Was that post made pre draft? Nope. Leading into that draft I was 100% anti-Gabbert. Made posts about not understanding where the hype was coming from, and that his footage in college was weak.
THat post you cite was an example of me falling into the Jags sponsored post-draft hype. And also by comparison of my posts about him, was a nickel in a bucket of pennies. WOn't happen again. If I hate a player heading into the draft, I'll stay with that opinion, as my original instincts seem to be gold.
I remember you being pretty firmly anti-Gabbert. You had quite a debate going about the mysterious "hitch" at the time, if I recall correctly.

Nothing within the NFL is easy...
NH3...
Boselli just said he wouldn't touch any of the QBs in this draft with the #3 pick on tonight's Jaguar radio show. He said that he feels the team needs to be developed more before using a premium pick on a QB.
Boselli gets it. Lageman sounds like he agrees.
They both sound like they want Henne back and having the rest of the roster built up before finding "the guy" to plug in behind center.
Can't agree more with those guys.
Couldnt disagree more. When you are picking high in the draft take a shot on a top QB prospect you believe in. Obviously if you dont think they can be "the guy" dont pick him, but once the roster is "built" you wont be able to get a chance at a top 2 QB in a draft because you will be picking too low.
Sounds like none of them have even watched extensive tape either.

They're ex-NFL players. They are analysts now. They watch more film than anyone here. They don't think the third pick is worth spending on any of the QBs in this draft. I'll take their opinion over anyone's here. Sorry.

Lageman also said that Akin Ayodele was the "best pass rusher I've ever seen" at one point, lol.
I frankly DON'T think they spent any significant amount of time watching tape from Louisville games for example.

Yeah, I'm sure they haven't spent any time watching any tape on a player that could be a top pick in the draft......

Haha they have openly admitted to not watching prospects while giving their opinion on them in the past. But believe what you want.
I remember them talking up Cam Bradfield and Guy Whimper too. Not to mention Gabbert.

I didn't say they haven't spent any time, I said I don't think they've spent significant time watching the prospects.
And yes - I have seen them be wrong so many times that I don't believe anything they say.
Like I said Lageman once called Akin Ayodele as the best pass rusher he "has ever seen"... And no, I'm not paraphrasing, that was an actual quote from him.
Quote:We as football fans have seen the NFL team's most important players are being resigned by them and yet him and Caldwell hasn't come to terms for the veteran minimum to stay here in Jacksonville. I think they both want to move on from each other because in Caldwell's case he could get his QB at #3 and Chad Henne knows he can make more money as a back up QB from other teams around the league.
How'd that work out for you?

he also called Heath Evans a buffoon, win some/lose some

Completely agree. That seems like the winning model currently.
No matter where they take a QB (even at #3,) it would appear as if they plan on having to develop them slowly, and they should with this crop.

When was this? Can't say I remember hearing it or ever seeing it referenced anywhere.

...wrong.

Ayodele's rookie year, IIRC,, so it's been a long time now.
I remember being surprised that it went unnoticed later because it was such a crazy statement to make.
Quote:He really isn't one of the best back-up QB's in the league.
Quote:(in no order)
1. Josh McCown
2. Ryan Fitzpatrick
3. Matt Cassel
4. Kellen Clemmens
5. Jason Campbell
6. Michael Vick
7. Taravis Jackson
8. Matt Flynn
9. Chase Daniel
10. Case Keenum
Maybe I'll buy Vick. Josh McCown you could make an argument for I guess if you don't count his stats, but Taravis Jackon? Jason Cambell? Puleeze. Matt Cassel, for cryin' out loud? I needed a good laugh though, thanks!
