I think he wont say because he was the instigator with their feud and whatever Crabtree said was not worth getting angry about. He just wanted a feud.
A lot of times folks will escalate a whole lot of nothing into something just for fauxtivation. I'm not so sure there wasn't a little of that going on there.

The Big Ten is a joke conference. Most non-conference regular season matchups they accept are from the lower tier of rival conferences. Look at their bowl history all time, in the BCS era and since 2005 and you see how they fare against the better opponents of rival conferences.
16-28 in bowl games since 2005, the lowly Big East is 21-11 in this same period.
41-48 in the BCS era, the worst %age of any major conference.
Ohio State and Michigan State are the only two teams worth mentioning this year. Next year it will be cowardly Ohio State again since they play nobody and likely Michigan State again since they are building a decent squad. And it will be absolutely nobody else worth mentioning. Indiana is never gonna be anything. Iowa had a brief flash once upon a time and came back to earth. Minnesota, really? Illinois? meh. Nebraska and Penn St. used to be good, but are both average (regardless of the reason why - and don't try to sell a Gator Bowl victory in a typhoon against a Murray-less Georgia squad as Nebraska being a good team). Northwestern. C'mon. Purdue and Wisconsin put out some decent pros, but neither of those teams is a legitimate contender either. And of course Big Blue which has fallen so far they are barely recognizable. The alleged top teams in your conference shouldn't lose to Appalachian State.
I have been following college football for quite some time thanks.. long enough to recognize mediocrity.

<p class="" style="font-family:'Mercury SSm A', 'Mercury SSm B', Georgia, serif;">Sherman has been upset with Crabtree since last summer. Both attended Arizona star receiver Larry Fitzgerald's charity event. While there, Sherman went to shake Crabtree's hand, and Crabtree tried to start a fight, according to Sherman's older brother, Branton.
There was also an answer Crabtree gave a to a reporter a few days before the game when asked how he felt about facing the best CB in the NFL.
He said something like - "I don't know about best corner - but we are just getting ready for the Seahawks"

How slow can you be?
If Michigan was playing in the Bahamas Bowl year in and year out, they would be able to pad their stats like the Big East does. The Big Ten is often matched up with SEC and Pac 12 teams.
The Big Ten is easily a top 5 conference. I say they are the 3rd best after the SEC and Pac 12. The facts back me up.

You're arguing the Big Ten is a better conference than the ACC? Credibility is lost.

Did you really go back to Red Grange? I had just assumed we were talking about a football era where the forward pass was part of the game and fans weren't wearing coon skin hats in the stands waving pennants on sticks.

I just didn't understand how heavily Minnesota's six national championships dating back to 1904 were weighing in this discussion. How old am I? Not old enough to remember their run of titles in the 1930s or their last one in 1960.

If you wanna take an honest look at the past 20-30 years, where the game (for most conferences) has evolved, one can easily see, even without looking at records, which conferences, top to bottom, field better teams. Looking at the records and impact players on the next level further solidifies the Big Ten as a second tier conference, no matter what your great grandpappy says.

The ACC was formed in 1953, two years after the Illinois had their last championship.
01-23-2014, 06:24 PM
You realize that in the last "20 years", the Big Ten has had a winning record vs the ACC in every decade, has a had more players drafted (per team), and teams currently in the Big Ten have had more National Championships?
Keep trying, kid.

National Championships In the past 20 years:
Big Ten:
Nebraska 3
Michigan 1
Ohio St. 1
ACC:
Florida St. 3
Miami 1
The Big Ten has 12 teams with 244 players in the NFL. 20.3 NFL players per Big Ten team.
The ACC has 14 teams with 280 players in the NFL. 20.0 NFL players per Big Ten team.
No ACC team besides Florida St. and Miami have more than 22 players in the NFL. 7 Big Ten schools have 23+ players in the NFL. Basically, outside of Florida St. and Miami, the ACC is terrible.
Impact players? In the past 20 years, the Big Ten has had 4 Heisman Trophy winners. The ACC has had 3.
Impact NFL players? You people like Tom Brady (Michigan), Drew Brees (Purdue), J.J. Watt (Wisconsin), Charles Woodson (Michigan)?

Statistics are great things. Going back to the 1993 season, the Big Ten is 7-8 vs. the ACC in Bowl Games, but they are also 21-15 in regular season matchups. Feel free to check my math. So going back to your 20 year window, the Big Ten is 28-23 vs the ACC (of course taking into account Nebraska joining the Big Ten in 2010, Miami, VA Tech and Boston College joining the ACC in 2005 and Pitt and Syracuse joining the ACC in 2012).
28 wins to 23 losses is a pretty convincing stat. Unless you really look at where those wins came from. 9 to perennial bottom feeders Duke (to their credit the Dukies did get two Big Ten wins in this period too), 1 to juggernaut Wake Forest in 2003 (4-7), and 2 to Boston College in (4-8) and (2-10) seasons. So, almost half to really awful teams.. if that counts for anything.
And I hate to nitpick, but I think the Big 12 might take offense to you claiming all those Nebraska championships since they didn't become part of the Big Ten until 2010. The ACC doesn't take credit for Miami's championship in 2001 because they were still part of the Big East then. And I won't make a big deal about double dipping on the 1997 split title between Michigan and Nebraska. If we're being honest going back to 93, FSU has three championships in 1993, 1999 and 2013 for the ACC and the Big Ten has two: OSU in 2002 and Michigan in 1997 (with an asterisk).
We've proven we can have a fairly respectful debate and I am confident we could keep this going for weeks if we wanted to. I'm tired of it personally. This whole thing stemmed off my assertion that if Kirk Ferentz can't get it done in the Big Ten, he can't get it done in the pros. I stick by that. I can tell by your avatar, some of my comments about the Big Ten struck a chord and you're standing up for the conference you support. This is what I will say about the Big Ten. They have a very rich history and they produce tough players. Because that's the style of football they play. I just feel that other conferences produce better skill players, have better defenses and are more exciting to watch. I find most Big Ten offenses to be boring if we're being honest. Although Michigan St. can make me a believer if they can hold on to Dantonio, even though he's almost 60. THAT guy can coach. I think the Big Ten's recent bowl record against ALL other conferences is telling. I think the non-conference regular season games the Big Ten schedules is weak (BELIEVE me, I acknowledge the irony in that statement seeing as we are peripherally talking about the ACC too). I mean, does the WHOLE conference get to schedule Eastern, Western and Central Michigan? Hey.. these are just my thoughts. If you tell me the Big Ten is the 3rd best conference in the NCAA, I will tell you I think that is not accurate. We can banter back and forth and toss all the numbers in the world around. I am still putting them 4th at best in my mind. Respectfully.

Got no dog in this fight, but if we're stacking titles, the titles earned before joining said conference should not be factored in.

Staying out of this arguement with College teams. I have facts and stats, but I see people are standing their ground with their own opinions. When you have that state of mind, it is hard to change an impression. *Cheers*
