Quote:Right now it's the TPD that looks horrible. The TPD is going to have a whole lot of splainin' to do. Especially when they did not collect timely evidence and essentially gave the attorney representing the football team, and Winston, a 9 month head start over the State Attorneys Office.

And it sounds like it is going to be wrapped up shortly in regards to him being charged or not.
These are always really tough situations.  On one hand its possible that this is just an attention grab... or even a potential money grab since Winston will probably be a millionaire in 16 months.  However on the otherhand, the number of women who get raped and stay quiet and/or never see justice FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR outnumber the women who make false rape accusations.  So in these matters I tend to naturally gravitate towards the woman's side of the story.

Now we get the article saying the victim was pressured into keeping quiet.  Which honestly is very plausible given the circumstances.  What is essentially a college town even with the state gov't presence, the local rag is in bed w/ the school no pun intended, etc... nobody in that town wants Winston to be guilty of this.  Even if she is telling the truth, its very likely that her life would be made miserable by those not wanting to believe her.

Tough circumstances no doubt.

Plus the fact that she made the accusation before he started having the year he's had. How was she to know that he was going to ever be worth anything at the time of the alleged incident .

I'm not saying he did it...I don't have a clue. But the timing just seems weird for it to be about money....

It doesn't appear to have anything to do with money, based on the timing, as you said.

This is about to get ugly. I'm confused - did the woman/family want to avoid all this, but it's come up anyway - or did the woman/family change their mind and decide to pursue the charge?

How does the DA avoid going further now?

So the story goes. ESPN.com claims to have seen the DNA report from FDLE labs. The ESPN.com report was filed by Mark Schlabach, the author of the book: "What It Means To Be A Gator" with forward by Urban Meyer.

The family is obviously being manipulated by University of Florida interests.

It is well-recorded that she had decided to NOT press charges. The accuser is said to have put the matter behind her and was innocently attending classes at FSU up to last week. There's no telling how horrible the horribly savage attack affected her.

She suddenly packed up her stuff and moved back to another part of Florida only after the media began to act as a prosecutor. That doesn't sound like an emotionally and mentally damaged young girl at all, does it?

Can it be Stockholm Syndrome forced her to move on with her life? And urgently getting her away from her school work would rescue her from the throes of menacing people burying things as the family now claims?

The interesting tidbit is the family publicly declared they wanted the matter to remain private. Yet, how can one explain the man that wrote the book on being a Gator somehow got DNA records that only a few close to the investigation are supposed to have?

Could it be extortion? Fraud? Blackmail even? Could the aunt be seizing upon her chance to capitalize on her cash cow niece? Was the fact that the case just hung in mid-air for almost a year really have more to do with the accuser attempting to reach a long-term financial deal based on Winston's future earnings rather than police incompetence?

Putting the accuser's face on this would really help.

Don't believe for a second that the Gator-infested media cares about the accuser at all. Look at what they did to David Garrard in an attempt to pave a path for Tebow.

Stay tuned....

That's no bueno for WInston and FSU

No offense but thinking like this is why she was warned that her life would be made miserable if she chose to pursue further.
Call me a homer, but this thing still sounds fishy to me.

If the DNA matches, I'm assuming the Winston camp will come out and say the sex was consensual.  And then will it be a he said/she said?  Ugly situation no doubt.
This Message goes out To Jameis_Fried_Chicken, BigJohn98, Shack Del Rio, and jtmoney...now that they found his DNA on her undies... you all can shut your troll mouths... Get off this board unless you can post something legitimate... Thank you..Im out!

When the story first broke, there wasn't a lot of information to come to any conclusions. We have a lot more information today, but still a lot of questions. It will now be a he said she said case. Was sex consensual? No one will really ever know.

The DNA doesn't prove that a sexual assault occured. You'll learn more when you take sex ed in 11th grade.
Ouch. This may cost Jameis the BCS, Heisman, and draft status. We need Teddy

Im trying to outclass you in posting a more ignorant comment.

But I cant.

Sadly which is about 4 years away for him.

Yeah I still am suspect about the timing, but TPD has to take the heat for this because.

-They never brought Winston in for questioning even after a rape kit was performed on the victim.

-They were not more active in pursuing other (potential) witnesses, which could have led to a more efficient investigation which we could have already have this case closed by now.

-Did not follow up or kept in contact with the victim after she moved out of state.

All of a sudden, Coker's season ending injury has become a huge blow.

I know Jimbo will not comment on it during his radio show today, but I expect him to get some questions on whether or not Maguire will see more reps with the 1st teamers.

Manziel gets Heisman again?
Quote:Ouch. This may cost Jameis the BCS, Heisman, and draft status. We need Teddy

The Heisman, for sure. He was the favorite two weeks ago. Now, even though he isn't charged, too many people will exclude his name. At this point, I would be surprised if he even goes to NY. Just start adding Manziel's name to it now.

For the BCS though, it remains to be seen. Unless he is charged, he will be the starting QB.

I didn't even realize Coker got hurt. Was it in mop up duty against Syracuse?

It was the week prior. Against Wake.
