This fanbase is crazy.
I have never seen a fanbase ok with losing. I guess this team has been so bad that fans are use too it.
I will never agree with losing to get a better lottery ticket
Quote:So, where do you want the team's next QB to come from? Free agency? Who do you suggest?
If not free agency, why would you be against Caldwell having his first choice at QB available, guaranteed?
Yes, of course, there's always a chance the top QB will fail and a later one will excel. But why would you want to risk that? What do you gain from a win or two or four this season?
Say they do win four games and miss out on the QB they would have taken because he's off the board. Then what? Next man up, fine.
And if he's not as good?
Well, thank goodness we won those four games, right?
I'd rather see Caldwell get his guy, and if he's bad, well, heck, at least he'll go down with his ship.
Say we win 4 games and find the QB of the future. I root for this team to win all the time and don't think about a lottery ticket in the draft

Then don't root for it next year and beyond, should it benefit from doing just that (the above)

Exactly. Those very few aren't included in your edit.
mvp.
I'm not sure what you expected this season. But we were 2-14 last season, and since Gene Smith messed up soooo bad, it's impossible to fix his mess in half a season.
I am against tanking, but since Bradley pretty much came out and said the players weren't playing with effort, I no longer care if they lose.
They don't care, why should I? Bring on our new franchise QB.

I wasn't expecting a miracle. I was not expecting a lot of wins.
What I was expecting was watching entertaining games and a team that competes almost every week.
Most of the Jaguar games this season have been very boring and pathetic to watch. I'm at home and feel ripped off for paying for Sunday ticket.

I will never root for my team to lose.
i believe you are a cancer to this team

That's a bit harsh.. I mean, let's look at the reality of things for a minute.. Yeah, it sucks to root for your team to lose, but when it's for the greater good of things, exceptions can be made.. For instance the 1st pick used on a hopefully true franchise qb that this team hasn't had in a long long time..
Plus, this team is destined to lose this year no matter which direction you root.. So lighten up..
Quote:There is a difference in being bad and being atrocious.
This team is atrocious and has not lost by less than 10 points all year.
Yes I expected lots of losses but not to this extent. We are barely an NFL caliber team.
There is no excuse for how bad this team is
Thank you for some sanity. This team is bad

Hahaha you're a trip.
No one on here is happy with losing. If we win the next 9 games... make the playoffs and win the Super Bowl, everyone on this board would be more excited than Randy Marsh at the end of South Park during the internet episode.
Most of us just accept reality. And the reality is that we suck and the better the draft pick slot the better off we will be in the long run.

That's one way to skirt around every question posed to you.

Grow up. It's football.
Quote:This team is somehow worse then it was last season. AT home the Jaguars are a whipping post. Just flat out awful.
So the team was 2-14 last year and what did the organization do to improve this team:
1. Hired an unproven GM and Head Coach. I don't know if Bradley/Caldwell will build this team back up again. It's just a little confusing to not hire a coach or gm with a track record of success. I know both of these two had success in their previous positions but not in their current ones.
2. 99% of NFL fans and media knew Gabbert was garbage and Henne is not good enough. 0 was done to improve this. The most important position in all of sports was untouched.
3. Tons of cap space but very little spending. Yeah I know build through the draft but every team has a handful of FA's that help in their success. This team has millions sitting in unspent cap space and spending like their on welfare. With the holes on this team, building through the draft is going to take a very long time. This team lacks talent all over the field
4. The team preached changing the culture of this team. I do see change but for the worse
The bottom line is this was a terrible team the last few years and there were very few upgrades in this offseason. Who knows if this team will be successful under the current Regime but the arrow is very much pointing down
1. Everyone is unproven in a new position but they did extremely well in their previous jobs.
2. Best way to get a QB is through the draft. QBs don't grow on trees, and a good one isn't sitting around in FA.
3. Shack/Gene spent a ton of money especially when they thought we were close. We don't need to spend a lot of money to get good. Look at the big names in the league. They don't make huge splashes in FA or spend a ton.
4. How do you figure? The team is changing but change doesn't occur over night. You seem completely out of touch with reality and utterly clueless.
I have yet to see a Jags fan at the games ROOTING against the Jaguars.
Most, like me, still cheer our team on, get excited for the rare good plays we get, etc.
Do I still want us to get the 1st pick overall? Absolutely. This team is so bad that only an absolutely elite player can change it.
Nobody knows whether the guy we draft will be special, but if there is a guy that's legitimately a #1 pick, (like an Andrew Luck, for example), then I want the first pick. If we're gonna suck (and guess what, we already do).. we will be picking in the top 5. I want the first pick in every round because I think it will give our GM an advantage.
I'm not a fan of jaguarmvp, but I see where he is coming from and I agree to an extent.
Since Caldwell and Bradley got their hands on this team, has it gotten better or worse? You can't continue to blame Gene for changes that happened to the team after he was gone.
The season is not quite 1/2 over, so there is still time. Yet if we end up going 0-16 anyone with more than 10 brain cells would find a hard time explaining how we got better, especially if almost all of our losses end up being blowouts.

We're going to trade you for a 4th and a 5th. If we shop you around we might get a 3rd though....

If losing is a ticket to success we should be in the division lead.

Actions speak louder than words, by not even attempting to correct the QB position, yes the tank plan was most definitely in effect. "It's a process."
