well, to be correct, we're currently tied for that lead... :whistling:

Got it.
Lol it sure ain't looking up right now, and if it is it's because there is no where to go but up

Exactly what some said last year after the 2 win season. No way did I think it could get worse. To top it off, it's embarrassing losses, and the jokes, comments, etc by the media are no fun to listen to. And no, I can't ignore them, particularly when they're right.

We gripe about Gene.. And the jury is still out, but the draft picks this year aren't exactly kickin it

Sanders, Cyprien, and Joekel look like they are going to be good.  Gratz maybe.  Heck Robinson might be good too.

If you refuse to ignore it, that's a you problem. Get some thicker skin and deal with it. One more time, this is a football team.
Quote:This fanbase is crazy.

I have never seen a fanbase ok with losing.  I guess this team has been so bad that fans are use too it.

I will never agree with losing to get a better lottery ticket

The NFL draft is not a "lottery" for front offices that know what they are doing.  While no organization stays on top forever, the ones that seem to draft well above all others will have the longest windows to win championships in.  The draft is not a proven science, but some teams are in fact better at it than others. Hopefully Caldwell is our guy after the disasters of Gene Smith and Shack Harris.

Carlys got bigger marbles than half the dudes on this board.. get em
Rooting for your own team to lose is just classless.

The big issue is how bad this team is. We went from horrible to horrendous. I question a front office that takes a bad team and makes it worse.

Pathetic that people have been waiting for the draft since week 3.
Quote:Honey, you are in no position to call anyone a moron. Let's be real.

Pay attention and you'll note I haven't said the team hasn't played pathetically. I am, however, capable of understanding how a rebuild works and that it may take longer than seven games for a plan to work.

It may work out, it may not. I'm not claiming to know one way or another how it will go. Are you?

Please name the team(s) in the past that successfully rebuilt by first becoming the worst team in NFL history.

Then explain how Oakland, with just as bad a roster and a cap problem too, managed to at least field a respectable team.

Colts 2 years ago? No?

And the Raiders got Pryor who has won them some games.

Colts 2 years ago are a special case. They were able to pick the best QB prospect since Elway. They did not have to gut the roster and become the worst team in NFL history, and only ended up 2-14 because their star QB was lost for the season.

Pryor may explain part of the reason why the Raiders haven't gone the way of the Jags, but their defense (9 new starters) is way better too. And although this offseason was poor in available QB talent, I would think that someone close to a Pryor-level QB could be found. Maybe the difference between Oakland and Jax says more about coaching than player selection.

Or... it says that the Raiders were closer than the jags were to being competitive.

Do you want a Pryor-level QB?  Or do you want a franchise QB?

I want a franchise QB. I have no problem with the team tanking the season if the end result is a franchse QB. Is Teddy Bridgewater a franchise QB? Maybe. Will Caldwell even draft a QB? Another maybe.

But be honest here. The Jags level of gutting the roster is something no team has ever done before. The front office is wading into completely unknown territory. Is it the right thing to do? That remains to be seen. I just pity those fans who bought tickets, at higher prices, believing that they would see an improved team on the field this year. Some like FBT bought tickets knowing that the Jags would go down in NFL history as the worst team in the modern era. But I imagine a lot of suckers bought tickets expecting a better team than 2012.

PT Barnum would approve of the Jags.

I no longer have a crush on Carly if that is the case.

There is no objective way to determine worst team in NFL history.

The NFL doesn't name that team, and there's no way for the teams to play each other to make that determination.

At best you can compare numbers, but that would only get you so far.  You can't name the teams in the past that successfully rebuilt by becoming the worst team in NFL history.

However, you CAN name several teams who successfully rebuilt after losing to the point where they had the top pick in the draft.
The Colts did completely overhaul their roster when they got Luck.  Massive turnover.

The Jags aren't done gutting the roster; it's getting worse before it gets better.  Look at our highest paid players - guys like Lewis has done almost nothing.  Mincey got a huge signing bonus and he's done nothing since.

People think we're cheap but we had one of the highest payrolls in the league last year.

I will say this:  Yes the Jaguars are bad but its not just the players.  This team has bad luck

Their Strength of Schedule so far this year including the 49ers:  38-17.  Very tough.

The referees hate us.  We get bad calls all the time.

It seems to me this team is destined to fail.

Hahaha when in doubt... blame the refs! They're the reason we lose! They have it out for us!

Classic.

We were dead last in payroll last year. We're somewhere middle of the pack this season which is even more frustrating.
I have a very big question for those of you that are ok with the jags losing.

What if Caldwell has a difference of opinion and believes another position aside from QB is the better pick 1st overall.

This team has really big needs at DE

Would it still be okay to lose if Caldwell does not take a QB with the 1st overall pick?

Another Scenario:  If a team offers a bargin and Caldwell trades the 1st overall pick for a load of picks.

Is it still acceptable?
