Quote:Manziel has great accuracy. Look at his completion percentage.

This idea that Manziel is mature is pretty lame as well.  When you were 20 years old did you drink alcohol?  He is just living his life.  Just because he isn’t Tim Tebow doesn’t mean he isn’t mature.  Look at guys like Jim Mcmahon, just because you’re out in the public eye doesn’t mean you cant be a good leader.  Manziel plays with heart and intensity, something the Jags desperately need right now.  His arrogance hopefully will rub off on some of the players and help bring us to a competitive level again.

His attitude currently is probably because he's been given the free pass you seem to be giving him. His behavior on and off the field is not what you want from your starting QB. Funny, I don't remember Luck, RGIII and Wilson getting in trouble in college. They were 20 at one point also, right?
How could anyone be mad that we picked Manziel?  He's as big a crap shoot as any other quarterback in the draft.  Not all quarterbacks have to have all the measurables. Gabbert had the measurables, and look how that worked out.

I'm not saying he would be my number one pick, but the kid has a shot.  Too many people here jump on others opinions and then nay say whenever someone goes against the grain.

Johnny Manziel has been blessed with one of the best offensive lines in all of college football.

This kid is going to be WRECKED on any team drafting a QB to start right away.

At being the number-one pick? No he doesn't.

I don't understand this argument.  Johnny Manziel's talent and style of play is not the result of a good offensive line.  He's the type of quarterback who will excel with a bad offensive line.

You clearly have no idea how difficult it is to block for a guy like Manziel. Joeckel has talked about it several times. Alot of those crazy escapes he makes in the pocket still come after 4-5 seconds of blocking. And they still have to continue to block the defenders without actually know where he is.

Yea, were still not on the same page.  Just because there is talent around a player, doesn't negate the player's own talent.

It's hard to block for Johnny Manziel because he EXTENDS THE PLAY.  And what difference does it make how long it took before he leaves the pocket?  You evade presser when the pressure comes.  Evading the pressure is Manziel's talent, not the line.

Manziel's not going to be able to play so horizontally in the NFL. Fran Tarkenton would die against today's pass rushes.

The speed of NFL defenses definitely creates a question mark.   I wouldn't expect Johnny Football in the NFL to look exactly like Johnny Football in college (though I really wouldn't put it past him).

It would be interesting to see what somebody like Mayock thinks about him come draft time, and what kind of numbers he puts up at the combine and/or pro day.

Luck and RGIII where not thrown into the spotlight at 20 and win the Hesiman.

Manziel evades pass rushers better than anyone I have ever seen before.  His ability to make something out of nothing is unmatched. Manziel has played great against the best competition in college football.  Hes not playing against USF and the rest of that joke conference like Teddy Bridgewater is every week.

Bridgewater is all hype without any of the results.  At least Manziel has proven he can play on the field.  Look at the film on Bridgewater.  His throws are not that impressive.  His guys are wide opened or he is throwing jump balls in the endzone.  Manziel actually has to make throws into tight coverage.

Priceless post. Not even going to bother.

Well you are used to supporting the loser!

MORE NEWS AT 11!

Quote:I never made any claim of what round Manziel is going in.  Manziel is a tough projection because NOBODY plays like him.  I personally think he has qualities that directly translate to the way the NFL is today (where clean pockets are slowly going extinct).  There's a lot of good QBs coming out this year other than Manziel.  But I think teams that pass on him (in whatever round) will end up regretting it.  Maybe 5 or 10 years ago I would have agreed with you, but the days of the 6'4 prototypical pocket passer ruling the NFL are coming to an end.

Brett Smith plays almost identical to him, and is a couple inches taller, with a slightly stronger arm, better decision making (he makes the same boneheaded plays but not as many), and none of the off field issues. It will purely be level of competition based if Manziel gets drafted ahead of him because Smith is a better pro prospect.
Manziel made Alabama look like Division II and that's after already facing him and being able to game plan just for him.

The guy has played above and beyond his stiffest competition.

I think people need to wait until someone at the college level at least slows him down before they start making claims that he can't make it as a pro.

Throw out the measurables (Blaine Gabbert), the guy is one of the best playmakers I have ever seen. He does things that all these QBs that people are saying are better could never do.

If he can keep his head straight, I would love to have him on this team.

That is hilarious.

You, my friend, are funny.  Don't ever change.
I'd take Manziel at the Top of the 2nd round.
