What is almost a certainty is that Manziel will get bigger and stronger. I think people continue to forget how young he is.
Maybe what an inch taller at most? He's probably about 5'9/5'10 right now.

Not really.
Quote:I'm seen every play of Manziel (I'm an Aggie), and I don't feel that comfortable giving him the keys straight out of college. Manziel is so far above most of his competition in quickness and speed that he still has a lot to learn when it comes to making the right reads (Blitz/Protection & Coverage) and following his progression. He is definitely not a guy who will choose the safe route, because he thinks he can fit in that space and get away from the DE everytime. He can do that stuff now in college, but I have reservations about him doing that in pros. I would see him be some sort of combination of Romo + Flutie, if you can see that.
Other thing with Manziel is that so many of his plays are sort of "backyard football", in which he runs out of the pocket makes some people miss and his receivers find some open spot. It is totally unscripted. Amazing to watch, but I'm not sure how easily it could be replicated in the NFL. Most of his receivers now are big WR that can come down with a jump ball. Blackmon would fit the M. Evans role, if he could get his mind right. CSIII and Ace couldn't do that. He had some of the shifty type receivers last year, that are in the CSIII/Ace mold. Plus the Jags OL has no where near the cohesion and advantage in skill over the defense that A&M's O-line does.
Could be a very good starting QB, but I just don't see him fitting with a huge rebuild like is being attempted here in Jax. He would need to be humbled some by starting on the bench for at least part of his 1st season which would never happen here.
One thing people should concider more is that he's barely into his 2nd year as a starter. The way he plays, and with the success he has had, it's hard for me to determine what exactly he can't do (if anything). Plus, I definately want a QB with that gunslinger attitude.

I think Manziel looks smaller on TV than he actually is just because of the way he moves (Don't ask me to explain this bacause I can't). His size doesn't really bother me much. But the mystery continues.

Standing between Colin Klein and Manti Teo makes him look short too. Teo measured at 6'1 at the combine.
I have never seen Johnny Manziel play without one of the best offensive lines in college football.
Remind me how good our offensive line is.

Fantastic. We've only allowed 18 sacks so far this year! That's tied for highest in the NFL! And at least 5 of them were Gabbert's fault! Probably. Maybe

ok but when the line breaks down and he makes plays with his feet, which happens a little frequently even with the "best offensivle line" in college. youre totally discrediting his ability to scramble and evade the dline and then make accurate throws on the run. i've seen him make a lot of questionable throws too but then again he has the college megatron.

Yep you nailed it there at the end. Yonny Futbol looks very average without Evans bailing him out massively most games, especially that Bama game.

Edge rushers and CBs in the NFL are far superior to those in college. He is not going to have the silly sally fiffy faffy daffy parade of run and throws that he has in college, in the NFL.

youre missing my point.... he trust evans thats why he makes those throws.

probably not as much, but hes also improving as a pocket passer, he usually only scrambles when his receivers are covered and protection breaks down and only runs when he cant find open receivers while scrambling.
btw I can say the same thing about teddy playing against second rate college defensive schemes :whistling:
Quote:At being the number-one pick? No he doesn't.
No, a shot to be a really good NFL player. He has more natural ability than many of the other running qb's in the NFL.

and he has improved a lot as a pocket passer against the best defenses in college.
How bout we draft the best QB and forget about Manziel?
As someone who has literally watched every A & M game, he should have like 10 INTs right now. He is going to have to end up on an already good team if he's going to have any success in the NFL.

or draft a DE that can improve your def by tons and manziel with as much potential as teddy, though not as polished yet.

Manziel not even close to the potential of Bridgewater. Have you seen Bridgewater play? He stays in the pocket, goes through his progressions, moves in pocket to gain time.
Manziel gains time by getting out of the pocket and creating time. That doesn't work in the NFL. A lot of is big time plays are being a great athlete at this level. He isn't close to the pocket passer of Bridgewater.

Whoops! Any chance they are wearing high heels though?
Jokes aside, I'd guess 5'10 or 5'11 looking at this picture. Johnny's head looks to be a tad bit farther away than the other two.

I don't get why people wouldn't want to draft the best prospect at the most important position.
