Quote:Laphroaig is pretty amazing
It's like drinking pure smoke.
But I kinda like it.
Peated whisky is a unique experience, in that I'll probably never try it again. The smoke is overwhelming after a few sips. I guess it's an acquired taste.
Kirkland Spiced Rum from Costco. $13.99 for a 1.75. Very good for the price.

I prefer Ardberg.
Lagavulin is another strongly peated whiskey, similar to Laphroaig. I like Talisker as it is not as strongly "smoked".
Another nice scotch is Bowmore. Never had Ardberg, will have to try it.
We used to have a liquor manager at the local "big box" liquor store who ran scotch tasting sessions every couple of weeks and I got to try a lot of different ones. On any given day, he always had a handful of bottles open in his office area and was always willing to have a taste with anyone and talk scotch.
I think the only one I ever really disliked was Caol Ila which reminded me of a bad cough medicine.

I'd agree, but smoke from a very old wooden ship. Insert Anchorman joke as well, but the point is meant legitimately.
I am not a big alcohol person, but if I get a shot its Jägermeister the colder the better.
If a mixed drink usually a Fidel Castro (type of a mojito) which is basically;
Ginger Ale, Dark Rum, Lime over crushed ice.

Gonna enjoy some Bacardi and Coke here in about 10 minutes.
If anyone could recommend a good whiskey bar in Portland, pass it along!
Curious Traveler is BOGO at Publix this week! Tastes like lemonade, and just as refreshing.

PBR...Steppin up your game I see.
In the world of beer, its getting overwhelming. After the Bud people got fined for mis representing Becks beer, I dont care for any of their products due to their take everything over mentality.
Local brews are great, but they're getting a little overboard with some ingredients.
I do have a bourbon question...what makes good bourbon? I've read that a few think Jim Beam and some others are garbage. I dont have the bourbon palate, so I was just curious.
Well it's Friday, sweltering heat and humidity here. Worked up a sweat just walking 3 blocks to the liquor store so......
I got a 12 pack of PBR iced down for tonight......
Sholuld help me sleep better than I have been.......
