If Nassib comes in before Henne then what on earth is the point of Henne on the team really?

I totally disagree. Starting with removing our forum from their official site, this team has shown time and time again that they don't care what their fans think. They have their own motives. I can assure that absolutely nothing they do with respect to roster changes has anything to do with appeasing fans.
This is a football TEAM. The first requirement is to be a good teammate. Kap and RG3 are not team players. They are side shows. They failed in this league because their personal beliefs are more important to them than the team. The players see this. Also, defenses have figured them out or broken them with some pretty tough hits. They are getting someone they TRUST.  This team is good enough to be respectable in the league with a QB they trust and is a good teammate. Besides Bortles is running out of gift baskets to give other teams. Last year it was one strip sack and a pick six each game.
Bortles - Nassib Breakdown

Ability to hand the ball off......Even
Mobility in the pocket.....Even
Run threat.......Bortles (maybe)
Ability to throw a spiral.......Nassib
Accuracy........Nassib
Release.....Nassib
Arm Strength......Nassib
Can read a defense.......Nassib (no NFL quarterback could be worse than Bortles)
Decision Making.......Even (Not enough reps to give this to Nassib.....yet)

Why would you not play Nassib when he knows the playbook well enough.......this is a no-brainer.
How depressing this has got some people excited. Also others calling for a qb who can't beat out Gabbert. Depressing times

A guy who's shown very little at the NFL level, but is a glimmer of hope because he's familiar with the coaching staff and scheme and, most importantly, is not named Blake or Chad.
This is a decent move. There are feelings between them, so I think it's a real move to improve the team as they will put it on the field soon.

How many times is this gonna be parroted?

Gabbert "beat out" Kaep because he was injured. After Gabbert stank it up like usual, Kaep got better then came back in and put up numbers Gabbert can't put up with cheats on Madden.

But who's got time for some silly facts right?
If the front office thought Nassib could have been an upgrade they'd have signed him in the offseason. Especially since he's familiar with the staff if they wanted him they wouldn't wait this long.

He's just someone brought in so that when they make Bortles inactive later in the season to avoid him getting injured we'll have 2 QB's active. The move made now allows Nassib some time to learn the playbook.

It was expected of them to bring someone in as they let go Allen and basically told everyone Henne can't play behind this offensive line.

Yeah sure it had nothing to do with his 6 tds in 8 games the previous year. He's been terrible for a while.

Why, the front office has been wrong on many occasions. I don't trust this team's decision making 100 percent.
One thing stands out as a big difference between him and Blake,he has a MUCH quicker release.

How many times are people going to parrot the fact that Gabbert won the starting gig due to injury while ignoring the fact completely that once the league figured out how to defend Kaepernick, he just wasn't that good?   Toss in the baggage he has collected, and no team is looking at him as a viable backup, let alone a starter.
Last 3 games Kaep played, Ratings of 96, 102, 122. 5TDs, 1 int.

Boy did they figure out how to defend him.
I have to ablige:

A quick google search will produce CK stats.

In 11 games started he produced:

2200 yards, 16 tds/4 ints 1:4 ratio, 7.2 ypa with a 90.7 qb rating.

Now I'm not here to clamor for Keap although I would have liked him here. I'm excited to see what Nassib can do cause honestly I liked him coming out of college, his tape looks good and all he's done is sit behind a 2 time Super Bowl winning qb for 4 years. But this notion that Keapernick was terrible just needs to stop. When has Blake ever had a qb rating over 85? Please redo your argument because your hate is showing. The political stuff is just that. I'm not here to discuss that. But this lie that he wasn't good and that Gabbert beat him out needs to stop. Every time someone's say that they expose themselves what how they really feel because that's false.

That is all...

I'm not disputing the fact this front office has been often wrong. And if you don't trust them actually you shouldn't trust this move either, lol.

Just saying that if they thought he was a viable starter and an improvement over what we have they would have taken him earlier than they did.

Nassib was a 4th team QB at New Orleans, was cut and available and no NFL team has taken him despite the garbage QBs we see every sunday on the field (not just us but on other teams as well).
He's just not a saviour, he's filling Allen spot and if he'll start or be active is only because they decided to pull Blake and make him inactive to avoid injury and because Henne is a statue who was considered not able to play behind this offensive line.
Could he play better than Bortles? Hell maybe considering what level Bortles is playing at. Could he an hidden gem? I hope so!
But the way teams have considered him so far just shows he's a backup at best QB who's here for number games and insurance, nothing more than that.
Late last year didnt Kaep become the first QB in NFL history to have more sacks than passing yards in a game? A game in which he got benched in favor of Gabbert?

Kaep clearly has more raw talent than Bortles. And when he plays well (or at least faces a defense conducive to his style of play) he can do well. But he isn't good enough to be a full time starter anymore. And is too much of a distraction for a team looking for a quality backup. And if we all know we are going to overhaul the QB position next year, what is the point of bringing in a stop gap QB for less than a full season who will end up being a big distraction? And frankly turn off a lot fans? We aren't Berkeley or Portland. This is Jacksonville. This city would hate him and hate the team for signing him.
I just can't take this signing seriously. This is the most ridiculous, out of left field, stupid thing this regime has done. I honestly think that this is a TC move.

Desperation move?  Hardly.  Competition?  I seriously doubt it.

My guess is that he was brought in for a couple of reasons.

First, they probably need another "arm" for practices and game planning.  My guess is the original plan was to have that "extra arm" be Allen by planning to sign him to the practice squad.  Since he got picked up by another team they had to find another arm.

Second, he could be an "insurance policy" should there be a significant injury to Bortles and/or Henne.  He's not going to be any better or any worse than Allen.  The only way that he will be active on game day is if either Bortles or Henne has a significant injury.

My guess is that he was signed to the active squad because he is probably ineligible for the practice squad.

This isn't training camp. You don't need another arm at practice at the expense of depth at another position.  You carry 3 QBs because the 3rd has trade value, developmental value or there's something wrong with one of the other two. They apparently didn't need to roster Nassib as an insurance policy as he was on the street. There's a high degree of likelihood that he would have been available a month from now. So rostering him means a little more than what you are choosing to believe.  If they end up cutting him in a few weeks it will mean that they determined he was a downgrade not that they needed a camp arm for a couple of weeks.

The team is doing what they can at this point as far as due diligence is concerned at the QB position.  They're bringing someone in that they are familiar with.  They're going to get him up to speed and ready to play if need be and if they deem he's capable.  They might also be getting him ready to back up Henne because once they move on from Bortles he's done here. He's not coming off the bench with that $19 million dollar cap bomb strapped to him.  I don't believe Bortles has 2 more stinkers of a grace period left with this team.  I think he's done here after the next one which could be as early as this weekend.
