Kaep clearly has more raw talent than Bortles.  And when he plays well (or at least faces a defense conducive to his style of play) he can do well.  But he isn't good enough to be a full time starter anymore.  And is too much of a distraction for a team looking for a quality backup.  And if we all know we are going to overhaul the QB position next year, what is the point of bringing in a stop gap QB for less than a full season who will end up being a big distraction?  And frankly turn off a lot fans?  We aren't Berkeley or Portland.  This is Jacksonville.  This city would hate him and hate the team for signing him.

To be fair he went 1-5 passing for 4 yards and Gabbert went 4-10 passing with 25 yards. That teams was terrible and that was more of a just make a change at this time. I don't think anyone is saying he can just be the next Tom Brady. He is not able to take a horrible roster far obviously but he has proven he can take a talented roster to the Super Bowl and conference championship. He could have won that game on Sunday with this roster no doubt about that.

But I agree on that last part. They are not bringing him hear to jax. Not with the constituencies we have here. That's not a good thing or bad thing that's just the reality. We also will most like draft and sign a vet next year. Makes no sense to bring him in at this point. It's  just this narrative that he is horrible is just not true. The niners messed up benching a guy with a 4:1 td ratio but again he wasn't he gonna save that team.
Stats mean nothing to a QB without leadership character & basic respect for police, flag, anthem, country, etc. The Browns made that statement in their opener. Bottom liine is, there are no good quality QBs available until the next draft. This is making the best of a bad situation, and with the pieces around a new QB, and with a relatively soft schedule this year, who knows maybe a winning season is possible.
Back to Ryan Nassib...

He's tape is pretty good. The Rutgers and USC games are pretty ugly and but he looks good. I'm actually excited about the guy and hope he gets to get in at some point. I think he has the skill set this team needs to be effective on offense. Is accurate in the short and mid game. Big arm, throws spirals, smart guy, quick release, mobile in the pocket and out the pocket, decent pocket presence.

I wanted him back in 2013 and glad to have him now.

They failed in this league because their personal beliefs are more important to them than the team. The players see this. Also, defenses have figured them out or broken them with some pretty tough hits. They are getting someone they TRUST.  This team is good enough to be respectable in the league with a QB they trust and is a good teammate. Besides Bortles is running out of gift baskets to give other teams. Last year it was one strip sack and a pick six each game.

Kap had a 90.7 QBR with 16 TDs and 4 Ints on a terrible SF team last season.

He has a career 88.9 QBR

Boy did they figure out how to defend him.

You skipped over the 11 sacks and 2 losses in those final 3 games including a 5 sack game against Seattle, and a 4 sack game against the Rams.

TIL QB plays o-line.

That QBs biggest strength is mobility and ability to avoid the rush and make plays with his legs...

How many of his TDs came in garbage time... hmm?

You're assuming those sacks were the result of OL play and not possibly a QB who wasn't comfortable playing in the pocket.

Sorry, but all the love for Kaepernick is laughable.  On his best day, he's pedestrian.  There's a reason he's not on any roster today.  If he could make plays, Satan would be on a roster.  Mike Vick kicked around the league as a backup / starter after he served his prison sentence.  The fact that Kaepernick hasn't found another team to sign him speaks volumes about what teams think of his QB abilities.  It's not about his political views.  That simply adds to the apprehension.  If he could play, that would be an afterthought.
I think it's more about is he an upgrade over what you have versus how bad he is. Is he an upgrade over 2017 Blake Bortles? He most definitely is 100% better than that. Now that's not to say he will immediately take us to the playoffs but he's an upgrade.

All of this it moot. They aren't bringing him here and never were.

Let's get back on the Nassib train...

And youre assuming that all the sacks were a direct result of bad QB play and nothing to do with the o-line giving up the sacks. See how this works?

His career stats prove everyone's "opinion" wrong, and no one likes that.

This is a simple fact: Kaepernick is better than all 3 of our current QB's. It is 100% about his political views.

I know hes not coming here, I know hes not gonna be Tom Brady, but he is CERTAINLY better than what we got right now..by a large margin at that(which isnt saying much at all really).

You absolutely, positively, cant be serious.....

Let me drink the kool-aid and put on the rose colored glasses you wear.

You cant be this oblivious FBT. Come on now. Do the Jags pay you or something. Everyone knows, whether they want to admit it or not, that CK is not getting signed because of the stance he took.

C'mon man...

Dude. Have you seen some of these backups?! They're AMAZING! No way Kaep is better than them. No way.
Kaepernick, at the absolute very least, is better than 90% of the backups QB's in the NFL right now(and a few starters). Not a single person with 2 functioning brain cells can say otherwise. But still not signed..... He is 100% being blackballed.

I dont give a crap about Kaepernick, never rooted for him, never rooted against him, dont really care whatever happens to him. But the above statement is still fact.
The reason kap isn't being looked at in the NFL is because of his protest. If he was Tom Brady or Joe Montana, would he be considered? Of course. But nobody is them.... The real question is: is he better than Blake Bortles and Chad Henne? The answer is most definitely yes. But most people are disgusted with the act that he started (most people being white and military personnel...). And because these people are the majority, he is made to look disqualified. What personnel did his teams have when he made it to the super bowl and almost a second? Strong defense and a good run game. I think he'd be a great fit for the team and scheme. But because everyone sees the kneeling as disrespect to the flag instead of looking at it as the flag should be reflected by a better country, everyone shuns him. Only military personnel and family of military have any say on this issue. If you don't fit that, then your opinion on the kneeling means diddly squat. Point blank
Unless they Cut Bortles... Signing a 3rd rate QB just proves ownership can't stand Jaguar fan.

You come off awfully angry about it for someone who doesn't care.

I put things bluntly.
I legit think Nassib can win this team some games and get us to the playoffs. The guy can throw and is pretty accurate.

He can throw so well and he is so accurate that he was available in week 2...... Stud!
Can we plz stop with the Kap debate, we know why he is not on a team and it has little to do with football. If he was a Tom Brady yes he would be on a team, owners wouldnt pass on that.

But if he never did his protest we know good and well he would be either starting or a backup on a team and he would have been signed before the draft, so stop debating his stats or his play style, we know why he is not on a team.
