So, that's not the ultimate goal? I guess you prefer 7-9?

Blake was a 3 win QB until he got gifted the 25 ranked schedule, top ranked defense, and #1 rushing attack.

Cousins has literally carried his team to 24 wins the last 3 years with always having a defense ranked in the bottom third of the league.

Please, put Blake on Washington's team this year and they likely don't get 4 wins.

Okay lets play hypothetical to your question let just imagine if Kirk Cousin had to play as a rookie with 7 other rookies on offense in addition to having toby gehart as your running back and zane beadles, luke joeckel, and austin pastor on the offensive line and was sacked 71 times with jed fisch as your offensive coordinator?

Then the next year they gave Kirk Cousin a fat and injury prone tight end, then they replace one rookie on the offensive line with steven wisniewski as your center who is by the way is memorable for snapping the ball over the head of the qb multiple times in a season with a historically bad defense and replaced offensive coordinator jed fisch with another incompetent coordinator in greg olsen who is known for impeding growth of quarterbacks throughout his career such as derek carr rookie season, josh freeman, mark bulger, and let me add blake bortles to the list.

Then during Kirk's 3rd season he would've have the same coordinator that would have told Kirk not to work on or develop his craft and the worst part of this is having a Head coach who not only accepts losing as a overseer of developing players he also lacks discipline, accountability from his players, hires poor coordinators who were his friends by the way, predicable schemes, enable to make half time adjustments and worst of all was unqualified to be a head coach in the first place.

What i have just described was Blake Bortles environment and the people who was supposed to be in charged of his development during the first 3 years as a Quarterback for this franchise. My point is if this situation was Kirk Cousins not only he would've had the same or slightly worse record as Blake Bortles but would've been ruined because for someone like Blake who was set-up to fail if Kirk Cousin was under the same circumstances who to say he would've had the mental toughness to survive it.

Lets compare Kirk Cousin development in Washington and i bet that he was set up to be successful there and base on what Kirk had at his disposal he was in a better situation and it wasn't even close.

How can anyone assume Cousins leads us to the next level? He has had plenty of great players next to him over his career, with 0 results.

I hope this wasn't directed at me.  I've said numerous times that I want no part of Cousins.

What they would "likely do" is irrelevant.  What they did do, is go 7-9 with your legend under center.

I did that already in another thread recently, and as you can see Cousins was dealing with just as bad (if not worse) of a supporting cast. Blake had generally a slightly better run game and slightly better defense by the numbers. Hopefully we can just agree that both had really bad teams surrounding them and not argue semantics.

The difference of course is that Cousins dragged his awful supporting cast to an above .500 record while Blake dragged our awful supporting cast to three top 5 picks.

I'm sorry. You've all convinced me. Blake is the greatest QB this team could ever get. It takes someone special to get 10 wins with a loaded defense along with one of the weakest schedules in the league and all they're asked to do is the bare minimum and not screw the game up. We could only be so lucky to have him. He was the main reason this team won 10 games and won the division. Forget the fact that he threw 0 TDs and 5 INT in 4th quarter of games that were within a TD. It doesn't matter. This season could have only be quarterbacked by his greatness.

lol @ Kirk Cousins only getting 7 wins with injuries all over his team and the 3rd toughest schedule in the league. what a chump.

This isn't as much about Blake, as it is about Kirk Cousins not being worth 30 million. You would know that if you took off your #8 Washington underoos, and bothered to do a little reading!
I dont want to upgrade the QB position because I like Blake Bortles as a person. In fact, I just want a team devoid of any talent but has a bunch of really swell guys.

I dunno man there are going to be at least 4-5 teams maybe more willing to pay something in that ballpark, and then that column earlier this week with 4 out of 5 execs saying they would rather pay Cousins than hitch their wagon to any of the rookie QBs.

It sure sounds like the people paid to big money to do this for a living like the guy a ton. I could be wrong, but they probably know more than extremely biased message board fans.

Matt Stafford has never won a playoff game, is he worth what he got? Jimmy G has started like 8 games in his career. Derek Carr? Mike freaking Glennon?

Truth is, you're going to have to eventually pay for good talent at the QB position, even if they aren't worth it. And the same goes for Bortles next year if he has a similar year or better year. And there will not be a better QB this team can get his hands on than Cousins for the next couple years. Now or never.
I was exaggerating our whole core of wrs to me are better then Washingtons and i didnt even think about te of course they had better te's.

I dont know if Cousins is the difference for jags to win super bowl but he is better then Bortles can make all the throws consistently . The thing Bortles has over him is l mobility and toughness thats it.

And the execs alllllways tell the truth.  Especially this time of year.  [BLEEP], I've posted an article multiple times that say there are player personnel people that think he's nothing special.

And Blake is worth 30 million? That’s the whole point here dude. Unless it’s a rookie, you have to pay the QB. Whether it’s Cousins this year or Blake next year, you have to pay a QB and the price tag goes up every year. No QB except maybe 5 are really worth their price tag but because it’s the most important position in football, you gotta pay.

Blake will make 19 million this upcoming year. If he plays well, he will expect to make at least 27 million in 2019.

Well next time do us a favor and don't exaggerate because you make yourself look foolish by stating false observations about football related subjects.

Believe it or not I can see a scenario where Blake Bortles take less to stay here even if he have a good year next year based on his love for the defense who has stood by him and defended his character when others try to make him a punchline throughout the NFL. I can see a scenario where he will want to do whatever it takes to keep the team together instead of trying to break the bank for a few extra dollars especially when him and his family lives in Florida.

You’re delusional if you think he will take a hometown discount. And what do you think that discount would be? 15 million a year? 20 million? 25 million?
By all means let's plan the long term strategy of our team based on "I can see a scenario"...

I can see him accepting a Alex Smith type contract that he just received from the Washington Redskins which will still keep the team together and paying well enough to be compensated as our QB.

23 million a year with 71 million guaranteed? Nice discount. Lol

Whew. That extra 4 million a year for Cousins would really break the bank. We wouldn’t be able to keep anyone.

Smith got that deal because he’s 31. Blake would be 26 or 27. He wouldn’t sign that deal especially if he put together back to back good seasons. There is no hometown discount.

Look. I’m gonna be on board with whatever Coughlin and company want to do. Give more weapons to Blake or Cousins and lets ride.

I called the plurality of message boards fans biased, not you in particular. I also have exactly zero bias, I just go where the evidence points. If you look at the NFL at large sections you will see I showed support for trading for both Foles and Alex Smith. I just think Cousins is the best choice, as evidenced by my listing of what I think our 4 options are in order more than once.
