I think we need to be honest with ourselves and admit that Bortles is a bust and probably won't be out QB next year.

He may say he's not lost his confidence, and Gus may say Blake has not lost confidence, but if you watch closely, he double clutches a lot of his throws. He starts to throw and then he hesitates. I saw it several times last Sunday. He sees an open reciever, he starts to throw, and then it's like he's telling himself to look again, to make absolutely sure the receiver is actually open. He's lost confidence.
He's also wildly inaccurate at times.
It makes me wonder, should we ever draft a quarterback who needs to fix his throwing motion. Because most of the time, they cannot fix it.

I'm terrible with noticing small things like throwing motion until someone points it out, but I noticed his right away so I was pretty concerned at that fact.
Footwork is another thing I'm never going to notice unless someone points it out.
He's doomed.

To start with, Bortles had/has issues with his basic throwing motion; why on earth would we draft someone so high who has issues with fundamental skills??? Watch that video of him throwing a pass; that looks far more like he's throwing a baseball than a football. The ball should be coming up behind his right ear and then moving forward; instead, he's doing almost a full baseball style windup similar to what Leftwich did.
Secondly, watch him during the game and you'll see that he is totally staring down his intended target almost from the moment of the snap. No wonder defenders are able to triple cover his targets!
Third: He abandons the 'pocket' too often even when it's still clean. He's feeling pressure even when it's not there similar to Gabbert. He does sometimes 'double clutch' his passes... which leads one to think he's suffering from a lack of confidence; and given what his throwing motion has returned to, I don't blame him.
Forth: We have essentially no running game to speak of. Poor blocking due to our line getting physically beat combined with poor play calling by an offensive coordinator who has been fired multiple times already and the result is predictable.
As for the stuff of not being mentally or physically prepared for the season due to extensive late night drinking bouts... I don't know, but I hope that's not the case. We've seen too many Jaguars careers ended by drinking and drug use.
At this point, I'm not feeling so good about Dave Caldwell either. He selected Bortles. He selected Bradley. Short of a miraculous turnaround by this team, I don't see us reaching a .500 season. Indeed, at this point I'm predicting a 5-11 season... if we're lucky. So at the end of the season I think Bradley is done here, along with Olson. Regrettably, I also think we may have hitched our horse to the wrong wagon when it comes to Bortles too; he had fundamental throwing issues from the get/go and shouldn't have been drafted that highly.
So I think we're back in franchise quarterback search mode once again... along with a decent head coach search. After this season, Dave Caldwell should be on the hot seat as well.
On a positive note; the usual poor performance of the Jaguars has been a boon to my getting chores done around the house at this time of year on Sunday afternoons; but I'd rather be watching the Jags play winning football... too bad.

You people keep talking about Bortles as if he's a savior on the worst team in the NFL. Has he played great this year? No, he hasn't.
But the Jags are an awful team; let's be honest.
Bortles has 9 TDs and 9 INT this year. Peyton Manning won the Super Bowl last year with 9 TD and 17 INT. Joe Flacco won a Super Bowl on a great team as well with bad stats.
The Jags lose because:
1) The Jags lead the NFL in penalties
2) The Jags lead the NFL in dropped passes; last year 2nd in NFL
3) The Jags have the #31 running game in the NFL
4) The Jags scoring defense is #26, just up from #31 last year
A lot of people want to jump down Bortles throat and that's fine, it's just wrong.
There has NEVER been a playoff team that has a #31 running game and a #26 scoring defense. You want to prove me wrong? PROVE IT. WITH STATS..........
Bortles has plenty of talent- 35 TDs and 4400 yards (people say garbage time but Aaron Rodgers has only done that ONCE in his life).
Bortles isn't the problem. The coaching staff is the worst in the NFL and the supporting cast is dreadful.
Again, you'll just respond to this with ZERO stats and ZERO facts but people like you expecting a playoff team with a #31 running game and a #26 scoring defense are senseless.
FYI to educate you- Dak Prescott will be rookie of the year this year because he has the #1 running game in the NFL, #1 o line, and #7 scoring defense.
The Jags fans expect the Jags to make the playoffs when the Jags do NOTHING well. NOTHING. But it's all Bortles fault.
It starts at the top and Khan and Gus Bradley have been awful.

Saying Bortles isn't a problem is on the same level of stupid as asking if Toys R Us sells toys or if Chik fil A sells chicken.

You allow no excuses for Bradley but make many, many for Bortles. Why is that?

I said he hasn't played great this year. The point is young QBs that become great take 5 years to become good. Peyton Manning threw 100 INTs in his first 5 years. He also had Edgerrin James and a top 5 running game to assist him.
Answer the question....."What do the Jags do well?" In terms of statistics......compared to the rest of the league? This team is SO far away from the playoffs it isn't even funny. Grabbing a new QB does nothing. Nothing changes until the Jags get a real head coach.

He's actually saying what we are all saying.
His throwing motion is broke, so why haven't the coaches addressed it.
