Yeah, which is why the NFL hasn't announced that the Raiders are moving to Las Vegas in a couple years.... oh wait....
Because exactly like the Vegas scenario, Shad is building a $2 billion stadium in London which will be ready for NFL games in 3 years. Um, no. Try again.
I see, If you are building a new stadium in another city and planning a move, then you can tell the original fans the truth and they'll still support the team If you aren't breaking ground you must lie or the fans will bolt. That explains why Oakland ticket sales run counter to your argument above. It's all about the construction.

Do you seriously believe the garbage you post?

Oh yes he does...It's hard to believe, but somehow he does believe what runs off his fingers onto this board

Is he? Where's that going to go then?

I wonder if we'll just knock down Waterloo train station or fill in the River Thames to accommodate the Jaguars impending move to London.

Lol that is absurd. No way.

Obviously Buckingham palace is the ground of choice for this endeavor. Waterloo??? Not for the jaguars.

The timeline doesn't fit but I'm pretty sure we will rewrite history to show your car company actually being named after us as well.

Filling in the river Thames on the other will probably have a bit of truth because we will have to create a dam to generate enough power run our multi billion dollar stadium... or should I say billion £ stadium mwuhahaha.

It's a little hard to hide a $2B stadium project, and what were the attendance numbers for Oakland in the 2018, 2019 and 2020 seasons? Oh wait......
A better comparison would be the St. Louis Rams IMO. Their owner set up things for years, before finally admitting before their final season he was going to move the team.

... and the St. Louis fans pretty much did the same thing we are doing; stating the move would never happen.  In fact,  for a long period of time up to the official announcement, St. Louis fans always thought the Jags or Bills would be 1st in line for a move to LA rather than their Rams.

I don't think that it is impossible, I would argue that moving to London is really the biggest hurdle that makes this unlikely. Moving a team out of a small or fading market is becoming a epidemic right now. But moving a team across an ocean to another country is a bit of a different story.

Another piece worth mentioning is that the St. Louis move aligned well with divisions around the NFL. The rams were already in the NFC west so a complete division realignment was not necessary. The jags would have shifted a few teams had they moved. The rams were in a perfect position to switch without little collateral damage and to a fan base that had already been slightly established years prior.

You mean the Raiders who sold out their season tickets in 2017 after announcing the move and have a waiting list for Season tickets this year??? Keep digging.

I agree with the alignment factor and I'm actually glad to see the Rams back in LA.  That said, our AFC South alignment was simply throwing all of the leftovers in a single division so it didn't impact long term rivalries that exist in the AFC East-North-West.

I don't think the Jags will move from a growing and desirable city like Jacksonville -- which is becoming ever more popular retirement destination with the baby boomers of the Northeast (e.g. currently residing in Boston, NY, DC, Philly, Pittsburgh).  BUT, I do have to admit that I wouldn't be shocked if it happened; especially with the Fulham FCs promotion to the Premier League -- Shad could pretty much be the King of London (or perhaps even the King of the UK or Europe) as it relates to sports team-ownership ... ha !!

now thats not the whole story...There was also an ownership change and they had been trying to get a new stadium in st louis

Valid points indeed.  We (the City of Jacksonville) needs to make certain we support Khan throughout his revitalization visions of downtown Jacksonville, then ultimately approve a tax increase if and when they day comes in which Shad wants to build a new stadium.  Even with all of the renovations, there does come a time (~ 2025) in which we'll need to cross that hurdle .... assuming nothing drastic happens prior to that.  By that time, our metro population of $1.6m should expand to ~ $2m which will likewise expand our TV market presence significantly (as other cities experience population reductions or remain stagnant).

ALMOST but not quite...The new (at that time owner of the Rams) had made no secret he wanted to buy a NFL team and put it in LA...He already had funding and the property to put it on, and approval to build it...He openly tried to buy the Jaguars from Wayne Weaver but Wayne said no...He openly said he would not begin construction on the new stadium in LA until he owned a NFL team...He bought the Rams who were having stadium issues and moved them to LA...It was no secret that once he bought the Rams they would wind up in LA

The difference between Kroenke and Khan is that from the day he bought the Rams Kroenke never put a single dime into the St. Louis market or stadium. His only real action concerning the stadium was to take the city to court over the lease. That ended up him winning the suit and essentially getting a year-to-year lease which he could break at will.

Khan by contrast, has put millions into the team, stadium, and the city in general, both before and after the Jaguars started playing games in London.

That's not a great comparison. For one, St. Louis is and always has been a baseball town first. I know this first hand. They'd also lost a previous NFL franchise (Cardinals). Based on what relatives who still live in the area tell me, the city and the ownership had had an adversarial relationship for a number of years. And their ownership had not had nearly the commitment and investment in the city that SK has made to Jacksonville.

While that is true, from even before Kroenke bought an NFL team, he made it quite clear he was going to buy one, and that his team would be in LA sooner or later, while Mr Khan has steadfastly said the Jaguars will stay in Jacksonville and he has spent tens of millions of dollars on the city with various projects and more scheduled

I agree that Khan is doing everything possible here in Jacksonville and made a wise business decision to play 1 game per season in London for $1m/game at a time when we totally sucked.

That said, I'll play Devil's advocate with the Glass Half Empty:  one could argue, with the potential purchase of Wembley, that Khan is investing vastly more money in the City of London with his Fulham FC (Premier League Team) and Wembley Stadium (if the sale goes through).
