I would settle for a few 2nd round picks and a player.
If you're trading a top-ten pick a year after taking the guy, you're not getting a top-ten pick back for him. His value is probably in the range of a second or third rounder, plus change. If there are questions about his desire to play football, that value goes down quick.

Heck the Colts gave a 1st for Trent Richardson. I can hope for a million bucks in my wallet tomorrow too.
The Colts also had one of the worst GMs in NFL history at that point in time. The only guy out there right now who's half as bad is the de facto GM of the Texans, that Easterby guy.

And also remember this quote from Dave: We could have had 11 overall (which was the Wirfs pick obviously) and an extra 3rd and 4th rounder for trading down from 7...sigh. Not to mention how the rest of the coaches and scouts seemed less than enthused with the selection.

Remember who else had to be picked up from his house to get him to practice? R. Jay Soward.
Scouts being less than enthused, ha. I'm always gonna remember the shot of Henderson's draft party, with everyone slumped and hanging their heads after he found out he was going to Jacksonville.

"Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback C.J. Henderson could be on the move despite being just one year removed from going ninth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler."
"Fowler also reports that there is no malice between the two parties and that Jacksonville could hold onto Henderson, but at the same time, the team likes its cornerback room outside of Henderson. The Jaguars recognize the value they can recoup for a talented player on a team-friendly deal and wouldn’t shy away from an offer."

It's like selling a used car, telling the buyer there's nothing wrong with it, in fact, you'd like to keep it, because it's a great car for all these various reasons, but you're open to an offer.
On the other hand, it's possible they floated this rumor in order to tell Henderson he's not as important as he might think he is, and they don't really care if he stays or not, and he better start talking to the team brass about what's up, or they will move him to another team. A shot across the bow.

Henderson was paid a $12m signing bonus last season, and still has over $9m in unamortized signing bonus that would become dead money on the books/cap. Just an FYI.
The remaining $7m in guaranteed contractual money would be picked up by an acquiring team in a trade.

I want more than just Ertz if we trade to Philly. Ertz wants a new contract and he's 30 years old. Ertz and a mid round pick.

So he has to be drug out of his house to attend practice..
Stupid [BLEEP] should feel fortunate that he's even in the league and has an opportunity to take care of his family financially for the foreseeable future.
He needs a punch in the mouth wake up call.. I hope someone gives it to him soon.

Unless he’s having personal issues that have nothing to do with the Jags or football. If so, I hope they get him the help he needs.

I get the feeling that Caldwell failed to do enough research on Henderson prior to the draft. We've seen nothing so far to indicate that Henderson will ever get his head together to be successful for the Jaguars or any other team. They need to cut their losses ASAP. Hopefully some team will lose a corner during the pre-season and be desperate to obtain someone like Henderson. The best the Jags can hope for would be a 2nd round pick. If the Eagles would part with Ertz and a 3rd rounder I'd go for that as long as Ertz is willing to sign a reasonable deal for beyond this season.

You think CJ is permanently useless, but is still worthy of a 3rd rounder + Ertz? Seems a contradiction to me.

I understand that a lot of players around the league don't see Jacksonville as a primo destination. Maybe that's why Henderson acted disappointed when he found out he was coming here. But under Urban, players are running through walls to impress him. He's getting 100% attendance at voluntary practices. Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne have a much higher ceiling than Henderson, and they're thrilled to be here.
I get the vibe that there's something else at play here, other than Henderson having some sort of animosity toward the city or the team.

Based on CJs Twitter and liked tweets I think dude has some depression type stuff going on. Pure speculation but... For anyone who's never dealt with such things you should perhaps keep your mouths shut about what he "needs to do".
Hope the dude gets his head right and anyone critical of his off field "issues" without knowing the facts are turd burglars imo.
When it comes to his possible trade and value, I doubt he would net us a first. From the rumor mill I've been reading ATL, NYJ, and Philly could be trade partners. ATL or Philly bother have back up TE targets we could target (Hurst, Ertz) with a mid round pick I think. NYJ I'd take a 2nd, assuming it's probably top ten in that round.
Anything less than that and I'd prefer to hold onto him just in case everything works out, he improves to his perceived ability, or God forbid NFL injuries happen to all the other guys people are anointing the next best thing.
First many people said he was clearly the 2nd best CB in the draft. Some reports even had him the first.
Secondly, dudes had 8 games in the NFL.
8... You've nothing to indicate he can't or won't live up to his draft status.
Cut their losses? Moronic.

1. Stacking up on DBs doesn't necessarily mean that the team has given up on their highest profile cornerback. It might just mean that the team wants to elevate the group as a whole.
2. If the guy needs more motivation than a bunch of money, the possibility of winning more, and the thrill of taking the field, then maybe something is up with his head. Like our sensible posters said, hope he gets help. I never got the Ramsey vibe from CJ.

If he's traded pre-June 1 then it's a 4.6 million hit on the cap this year and ~$460k next. If he's traded post-June 1 the it's a ~$1.5 savings this year then $2.4 and $3.4 the following years. The paid money is paid, but the cap hit isn't terrible in either case.
