What I'd like to know is, did he turn down being drafted #1 for financial reasons?

And did he make more as a saleman than being the #1 draft pick..

Yes and no.

He was initially taken by the Eagles, but was traded to the Bears because they (Eagles) didn't think they could match his reported asking price.  He didn't initially sign with the Bears so he could continue school and attempt to make the Olympic track team.  After he missed out on making the team, he ended up not signing because they didn't agree on compensation.  Berwanger wanted 15,000, the Bears offered 13,500.  A year later, Berwanger sought out whether the Bears would renew their offer, which they declined.

So put simply, he messed up not accepting the Bears original offer and he knew it.

Imagine working as a salesman at the height of the Depression.

Man I really hope the AFCS basement dwellers in the top 5 all pass on Will Anderson for one of those QBs.

yeah, we will need someone opposite Little to block Anderson

Please no!  Not before the 3rd round at least.

There have been a few OL that were 360 lbs or more that have recently come into the league.  Mike Williams, Aaron Gibson, Mekhi Becton.  All were drafted in the first rounn.  Williams and Gibson were absolute busts.  Becton is on his way to becoming one.

When Tackles get too big (and all of these guys are), the excess size has several negative effects.

It has an adverse effect on conditioning and durability.  Dawand Jones couldn't even complete a series of practice at the Senior Bowl.

It has an adverse effect on foot speed/quickness and agility.  Clearly oversized Tackles tend to be liabilities in pass protection.

The goal is to provide TL quality protection.  Taking Dawand jones won't do anything to help in that area.

If he is drafted anywhere before the 3rd round at the earliest, he will be the latest in a long line of Jaguars draft day busts, and set back the cause of Super Bowl contention several years.

He dominated the Senior Bowl and then sat out the rest of the way to avoid injury which i didnt agree with but a lot of players decline or dont even workout at the combine

Jordan Mailata has been just fine and Jones is a much better player coming out the Mailata was.  Jones is going to be a monster and a future Pro Bowler at RT

Yes. About time
I'm just glad Texans didn't get Young
It feels so awkward not picking number 1, or in the top five.

Stupid Texans. Jerks! Lol.
It’s going to be all young gun QBs in the afc south. Colts are going to draft who’s left. Maybe Richardson haha
