We’d be instant Super Bowl Contenders THIS year

Shanahan has already shot this down, and I pray to all things holy we never give up two 1st round picks for a player who we'd quickly have to make one of the highest paid pass rushers on the planet.

Even if it meant a Super Bowl this year? I’d give up 3 first rounders if we are holding the Lombardi at the end of this season. The 49ers have been riding the back of That dude for years.

I prefer building something sustainable over throwing money and draft capital at a one time shot at a trophy.

Those early picks will be needed to replace the players we have to let go in order to keep Lawrence, Ridley, Campbell etc. - I want to keep that draft capital to build something with a long window of playoff runs

As long as we have T-law we are sustainable, we won’t be like the Rams. They had aging talent on that squad. T-Law is 23 - I don’t think we have a defense to get us over the top now

Yeah but the Rams problem was the paid big money to a few key players and traded for short term help with vets for draft picks. Now they have a roster of rookies and late round picks and they are terrible.

It would be a waste of Lawrence to go all in this early in his career for a 1-2 year window and risk surrounding him with low talent on his prime. Just look at Rodgers.

This.

From all indications from our management they are building a sustainable team in their words a good mix of players on first and second contracts.  This in the long run is the way in my opinion.  There is no ONE player that we can get which will guarantee a Superbowl win. Why mortgage your future if that is the case?  Even if there were one he catches an injury and goes out "poof" goes the dream.  (and your left holding the bag)

I still do not agree with your logic. Yes we would have to make him the highest paid guy but why?

Because he is one of if not the best pass Rusher in the league. Until proven otherwise, pass rush is a huge weakness for this team.

You want to push for a Super Bowl?  Protect the Qb and affect the opposing teams QB takes precedence over everything else.

Your chosen logic is valid.
Teams win big that way sometimes.

I just prefer a path that allows a shot at longevity via young player development and cap mgmt

Yeah we are more like the chiefs if all goes well.
I’d trade anything for a Lombardi Trophy.

Would you trade 15 winning seasons and 6 Lombardi Trophy's?  Tom Brady.
Not to start anything, but is coaches son that good?

Are half of the guys on the PS that good?

We've watched Tevaughn Campbell struggle as a backup for 2 seasons now. He's still there.
Heck - Farrell is on the team. Is he good?  Decent blocker, slow route runner. Meh.

Probably would have been Gerritt Prince's spot but he opted to go to the chefs, and the other promising candidate (Reyes) got banged up and retired.
Damn Hodges to IR...at least he'll get paid for the year.
Hamilton on IR? That's crazy, right after he signed a deal. He was gonna be a major player on the dline. Huge loss.

The practice squad is like the cabinet on the wall that says Break in Case of Fire.  The players are the extinguishers, you hope you do not need to use them as they need development.
