I figured Robinson might be back. Cleveland is still up in the air. I wouldn't hold my breath on a veteran at Center just yet neither. LOL. Baalke and Pederson seem to be in love with Fortner. Of course though, it could all just be fluff. He said "expects" not, "he will be". Leaving that door open for a possibility of them moving on from him.

I am not convinced Scherff is back. Remember, just a few weeks ago he publicly contradicted himself by saying "I like these guys, BUT... we need to get bigger and stronger". So, he knows as well as everybody else knows that he's just fluffing it up right now.

The combine is what drives a lot of their planning this week and weekend. It gives them a chance to gauge and frame where they can add value to each position for each round and they can either opt to gamble and wait for the draft or decide that it's too risky and begin overspending to land veterans at crucial areas of need.

Nobody knows what he's thinking or what he's up to until we finally start hearing this agent talking to this team or that agent talking to that team next month during free agency. All of a sudden it could be "Robinson is back next year" to "Robinson is cut with them looking to sign a new veteran RT to move Anton Harrison over to LT to maximize his first round contract deal", etc.

I would move on from everyone on the interior but I'm just not sure they're going to do that.

I do believe they will bring in a vet center and maybe that's where they need to get bigger and stronger.

Also seemed like Baalke is leaning heavy on CB in round 1.

And if he weren't he SHOULD make it sound like he wants to trade him, and also that he wouldn't trade him under any circumstances. Being an NFL GM is like being in the world's most high profile poker game, you lie about everything all the time and make the other players (GMs, coaches, agents) have no idea what you're doing. Baalke's problem is he just goes silent, like with Allen, when he should've been lying to them at the time so he could lie at the presser as well. He's not good at that part the same way you don't understand it.
Clueless as always, doesnt surprise me lol.  They can tag him and trade him if they want.  Baalkes problem isn't that he goes silent, Baalkes problem is he don't know how to draft and his board has sucked in the past, that's his problem.  Not to mention he has built this team and hasn't provided enough protection for Trevor, on top of saying the trenches need to bigger and stronger when it's been built by him, that's his problem.  At the end of the day it doesn't matter what he says it matters what he does, the draft and FA last year sucks and this team took a step, that's not going to get it done.

Yep you are and continue to be clueless. It's clear you have absolutely no understanding of what it means to be a negotiator. Maybe he should get up there at the presser and tell everyone exactly what he intends to do in excruciating detail so you'll be happy with what you find out.

Yeah, it's great to have $16 million bucks tied up in a guy who is the definition of Average.

Cleveland is actually a good player that I hope they keep. They traded for him a couple weeks after he injured his foot last year and the Vikes dealt him because they knew he wasn't resigning there and weren't sure he'd get back to pre-injury form before the season ended. Basically Baalke bought damaged goods (heard that before?) expecting that he'd get him to resign on the cheap after a low output year. I hope that's the case, because EC is still rated as the #2 LG and #5 overall G in free agency this year. We shouldn't let good players go to keep average players like PEDSRob.
Baalke answered alot of questions today. The only question is what was smoke and what wasn't
Baalke said he's meeting with Allen's agent today

Agreed, every piece on that interior sucked last year.  Hopefully we see a clean sweep
I agree with the belief that they're not going to replace three positions on the offensive line in one off season. Seems like a ton of work to do and it requires a lot of continuity. Ideally, I think it'll be something like this:

LT - Cam Robinson
LG - Ezra Cleveland
C - Tyler Biadasz - Signed in FA.
RG - Christian Haynes - Drafted in RD2.
RT - Anton Harrison

or

LT - Cam Robinson
LG - Graham Barton - Drafted with the 17th pick.
C - Luke Fortner - Potential replacement in Zack Zinter or Sedrick Van Pran drafted in RD3.
RG - Robert Hunt - Signed from Miami in FA. Biggest pick-up financially in the off season potentially.
RT - Anton Harrison

Perfect scenario for me?

LT - Anton Harrison - Moved after Cam Robinson is cut.
LG - Walker Little - Draft Javion Cohen with the 115th pick to compete with him.
C - Zach Frazier - Drafted 48th overall. Fortner moved to back-up role. Can still compete.
RG - Robert Hunt - Signed by Miami after Brandon Scherff is cut.
RT - Amarius Mims - Drafted 17th overall.

Also, just like last year. It wouldn't shock me one bit if Baalke trades out of the 17th pick and takes Oklahoma's Tyler Guyton or Duke's Graham Barton somewhere in the 20's to play RT as a rookie with Anton Harrison moving over to LT. Wouldn't shock me one bit.

If he can pick-up a future pick with a 2nd RD pick in this draft he'll probably do it.

I think we gotta move on from this notion that Little is a guard.

He is a tackle and shouldn't step on the field as a guard again.

I disagree with Walker Little. I think you have to try and maximize him somewhere at some point. He's a former 2nd RD investment now entering year four. He's been kicked around at tackle and guard. If this team is dead set on bringing back Cam Robinson at LT, and, you're invested with a quality 1st RD pick used in Anton Harrison at RT?

Where does that leave Walker Little? A bust of a 2nd RD investment sitting on the bench as a swing tackle? I just can't see it. I can see them trying to make him play LG or maybe even RG while adding a key free agent or draft pick to hold the opposite position down or at least push him, hence, the Javion Cohen selection in RD4 for me out of Miami, FL.

That is an interesting tidbit though with the play calling. It's at least put out there now and it shows that there's now a true sense of urgency with it being year three for this staff on offense, and, year four for Lawrence. They're going to have to make sure they leave no stones unturned out there or it could very well cost multiple people, if not, the entire staff their jobs in 2024.

Seems like a lot of walking back now though with today's comments. Especially with Pederson. All of a sudden they went from "Press was fine, the offensive line was fine, just needed to stay healthier" as soon as the season ended and the press was in their face in January to, "Press maybe isn't fine, maybe I do need to take the play calling duties back over and maybe the offensive line needs to be looked at more carefully".
He's a ballet dancer not a bulldozer.

I want: Little, Cleveland, JPJ, Hunt/Zeitler/Dotson, Harrison
Back ups: Fortner, draft pick guard, vet swing tackle FA, draft pick tackle

I think that's best for performance and being good stewards of the cap.

Playing Walker Little out of positon does not make the line better.

I know they're bringing back Cam but I would cut him asap. Move Little to LT since he's cheaper and give him a full year to show he is the LT of the future (he played well the first 4 games of the season at LT). They need a new LG, new center and RG (although looks like they may bring Scherff back too).

I thought Little played fine at tackle last season. We went through 4 left guards last year, so fixing that and the Center has to be priority. We might not resign him after the season, but we can draft a guy in couple months who could take his place.

Yeah - It seems that way - but these pressers are tough to interpret since they won't ever flatly say "Fortner was bad, we can't count on him,  we hope Cleveland will get better at LG in our system with an offseason to work with the full line, we need to get younger at RG but might try to milk one more year out of Scherff and draft his back-up to groom" etc...

They just won't ever say those things even if they are thinking them. So we have to wait until they acquire guys ( or don't ) in order to really know what they are thinking and not saying.
