He hit a 58 yarder today. Granted there was no rush in front of him but still a nice boot.

That's exciting to see and hear. I hope they give him some long range opportunities during preseason. We really haven't had a long range kicker since probably Scobee.

Nice. Hopefully he can produce in limited action this preseason. I don't think he would last long on the practice squad though. I could see a number of teams looking to scoop him up because of the measures on him and athletic ability.

Hopefully he's a Bobby McCray type for us in the near future. Kind of develops along nice and steady in the rotation and then pops up with a modest double digit sack season.

We really do need depth on this front seven still. We're too reliant on Walker and Hines-Allen and it'll eventually catch up to this team and bite them in the [BLEEP]. There has to be a way to keep getting after the QB beyond just those two.

And they asked - when the pads go on tomorrow, who are you most excited to see? Lloyd’s name came up, and of course Brian Thomas.

Which player are you most excited to see? Mine would be Antonio Johnson on defense and Hodges on offense.

I want to see Morse anchoring the line and full of pep for another series when the current one is done. If he can resolve the issues in the interior, it will be a completely different offense.

He also said the defense knew what they'd be doing since they did it from 5, 10, and 15, but that he asked them to disguise the coverage. Sounds like he's pushing Trevor early.

Easier just to say he bad and move on

Gregg Williams approves.

Think it was Campo who said teams typically don’t throw RedZone stuff in there until the QB is comfortable. Well…. They threw Lawrence in there day 2. I’m all for it.

Any update on Dewey Wingard? I read that he had a knee injury yesterday.

I’m right there with you. I was hoping they would bring in a vet pass rusher last year and they dodged a bullet with JHA breaking out. Way too reliant on JHA and Walker.

I need something up front down in them trenches and a guy to step it up this year like a Hamilton. I can’t get too hyped over Armstead just yet.

I've seen nothing so far.
Maybe a presser after practice today will reveal some detail

They don't have to address injuries during camp, so we might not hear anything at all.

Trevis Gibson and now Rasheem Green are veteran pass rush guys. If they combine for 10 sacks this year it will be just fine.

Yeah - between the rookies and those two vet backups competing for snaps behind the starters - I really don't have any concern about our pass rush group if the mainstays don't miss too much time.

Hamilton is supposedly back to form - Travon is hitting year 3 after finishing year 2 strongly - and JHA just  had a record season

I don't see need to be concerned about pass rush under a supposedly sneaky new DC that knows how to manufacture matchup opportunities for his front 4

OL protection and run blocking are really my main concerns. Maybe the question mark of special teams play with all the rules changes and shuffled return specialists after that. How will our kickoff coverage teams do against other returners?  Most other positions feel improved or on solid ground.
Nielsen is special. As much as I love Doug, i wouldn’t mind seeing what Nielsen can do with keys to the entire thing.

Yeah, some decent players are going to the PS this year.

He's decent and he's also about 7th on the depth chart. Did you really think he was going to set the world on fire last year? It's not bad to have UDFAs stick around for a few years. Everyone's favorite late rounder Tugboat might be PS material this year, and that 7th round D Lineman they took this year, same with a few of those late corners like Braswell and Hallett. It's actually good when you don't have to expect your 3rd day guys and UDFAs to play big parts in the first couple seasons.

Just to offer some perspective here...

Cooks did make the roster last season and was unimpressive when he finally saw 108 offensive snaps due to receiver injuries.

In those 108 snaps he saw 4 targets.
That should tell you something, and it's not a very good "something."

Now it would appear, Cooks had 2 impressive catches in the second week of camp after being completely lost in the mix prior to that - and according to all the beat reports he is facing tougher competition this year at the bottom of the receiver depth chart.

Personally - I'd love to see a 6'4" undrafted receiver breakout this preseason and become a viable backup for the Jags, but I really do think Elijah Cooks is going to have an even more difficult time separating himself from the pack this year than he did last year.

Luckily for us fans of the team, that's a good thing. Better competition for backup roles was needed virtually everywhere.
The real question will not be answered for a little while longer. It's nice we have all these new players but the million dollar question is the offensive line. We have a new center but it's mostly the same line coming back. Doug fired his offensive line coach so looks like he was the fall guy. Can this line protect Lawrence and can it make a push consistently on 3rd and short and 4th and short. Can this line give Lawrence a consistent 3 seconds or more in the pocket?

The Jaguars also made some changes to their offensive staff, firing running backs coach Bernie Parmalee and not renewing the contract of assistant offensive line coach Todd Washington

Either fired or let go, same difference. The blame was square at him.

ASSISTANT offensive line coach.

The offensive line coach is Phil Rauscher.  He was retained.
