If ya going to reach on a TE might as well reach on Watson as well.

I agree. If we're going to pick a tight end. If we are reaching at 4 we may as well reach on the most important position.

IMHO......Howard is NOT a reach at 4.

We don't always agree on things but I bet our ignore list looks pretty similar. I only turn your posts into Haikus because I enjoy ya

You cant advocate for a running back and think a TE is a reach unless youre going to severely underrate the importance of the tight end position, especially one that can block. As far as skill positions go at #4 theyre on the same level.

I just watched some tape on Howard and some tape on Fournette.


 

Just comparing these two should the Jaguars go offense at #4, I gotta say Fournette.


 

Fortunately this draft is deep enough at both positions that you can find starters rounds later... which is why I advocate DL... but these two project to be elite at their positions. The big difference is that can see Fournette carrying the Jaguars offense where I see Howard merely fitting in well. I'm sure he's a great TE and all, but I just don't see the position being used anywhere near as much regardless of his actual talent level.

What worries me about Fournette is the fact we have no fb. And not much difference on line.


So while a bigger back. Not sure he would make a huge difference this year.

Agreed. I don't see why the world is ending because we don't have a FB on our roster. I don't think we would even necessarily need one if we got Fournette. He's just gotta be more patient with his blocks and he will be fine.

Taking a tight-end that high better yield hall of fame worthy type statistics. He needs to be on par with Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten longevity wise. And he needs to be an instant impact in both aspects of the game.

 

I expect a Kelce, Gronkowski, Olsen and Graham type performance out of him at least every other week as a rookie. But drafting him to be another Marcedes Lewis where he just chip blocks here and there and is lucky to scrounge up 400 - 500 yards receiving every season is a waste of a pick there.

Man, tight ends rarely produce like that as rookies in the receiving game and Howard still is fairly raw in that aspect compared to others. His potential is huge though.

you expect him to perform like two of the best tight ends to ever play every other week as a rookie?
