Quote:I dont know...why cant there be a happy medium between building with an eye on the future while remaining competitive. If the majority of these young guys dont pan out then we are rebuilding forever. I guess we will find out next year
Don't you have to first be competitive to remain competitive?
Something I do want to point out... We left a few wins on the table this season... The pitt game was winnable and so was the tack and dolphin game...
That's 3 games that could have been won... at which point we'd be what, 4-6... And the Cincy game was winnable during the first half... Same with the Eagles game...
There's an arguement that can be made that with better coaching we may very well have won a few of those games...
Again, I'm waiting for the final 6 games to make a better decision. But let's not imply that this team is so devoid of talent that our current record is the only possibility that could be fathomed at this moment.
There were alot of mistakes made that could have turned a few of our losses around. And some of those mistakes fell on the coaching staff...

True indeed. Caldwell didnt have much to work with. So his choice in Head Coach should of been made on who can get the most out of a team of rookies....exactly the question this post is about. Gus isnt the guy for this team in its current state. His bonehead clock management and cheerleader coaching style isnt for players trying to learn this league. We as fans are hoping our HC and players develop at the same time and im not sure thats the way to go
Your kidding yourself if you truly believe Bradley is a capable HC. As fans we've had a decent sample size to see what he can and cant do with a bottom feeder roster. That speaks volumes in of it self. If he was over achieving with a bottom feeder roster you could tell if he was a quality coach. All Bradley has done is prove he'll need a roster topped to the nines with talent.
NO THANKS! FIRE GUS THE BUST!!!!
I think the most likely scenario with the Jaguars is barring something substantially changing in the remainder of the season, Gus Bradley will be back for his 3rd season in 2015. With some changes on the coaching staff. The expectation for 2015 will be at the very least being close to the middle of the NFL, with the plan of the Jaguars being major players in Free Agency. If the Jaguars have a 5-11 or worse season in 2015, Gus Bradley probably will then be let go. If Bradley has a winning season, he probably will get a multi-year contract extension.

Sounds about right to me. ^
Quote:Who, in your estimation, has done more with less than Bradley?
I like Bradley, but he has done squat.
Just because you do more with less doesn't make you coach of the year. Your team has to be at least a formidable opponent to be considered for COTY.
We are probably the easiest game on everyones' schedule.
I know he has had a few hiccups, but I like Bradley. I look around at other potential coaches and do not see how any could be wildly more successful. Maybe a win here or there, but I think in general Bradley needs more experience in his players.
Quote:I voted no because I dont think mixing his lack of Head Coach experience with a team of no experience had a real chance at success. I believe a real X and O guy can get more out of young players than a RAHRAH tony robbins coach.... I also think this team wont have a chance till there is a better mix of veterans and youth. Too much either way is bad. Not saying we should spend just to spend but having the most cap room and only one win is probably related. Im hoping we really hit on some free agent pickups next year as well as these kids develop otherwise we are looking at yet another rebuild in 2 years
I agree. I think Gus can and will be a very successful coach for a good team. I don't know if he was the perfect selection to get from here to there. But once Caldwell assembles a good team, I think we will have the perfect coach to squeeze everything out of them.
But I think the elephant in the room is how hard this team continues to play week in and week out despite only 1 positive result.
That's coaching.

Your first sentence is the key to all this humiliation. You don't combine a rookie coach with a team that's full of youth. Gus would probably be an ok coach for the 49ers the Bears or something but not this team. You need an experienced teacher as coach that knows how to bring a team along. Gus Bradley is lost and has hurt the team too many times in game himself.
Quote:Can you point out factually how the team "absolutely does not" look better at this point of the season compared to last season at the same point? What exactly is not better?
What's not better? Turnovers. Special Teams. Points per game. Wins.

Last season after 10 games - 12.9
This season after 10 games - 15.8

Yep, that's more points per game, even if it is less then a FG more per game.
15.8 is greater then 12.9
Yes. The record is ugly. But it is not u reasonable to think the jaguars had the worst overall roster in the league the first year. This year the whole offense are rookies, and the defense has played like an 8-8 team (5 good games 5 bad).
What really makes me think gus is a good HEAD COACH, which is not the same as a coordinator. He clearly hasnt lost the team even after two bad years. The team quit on Mularkey in half a season. Gus is a great leader, the most important head coach quality. Jedd Fisch however might not be the answer. Hes hamstrung but i have my doubts.

2013: Old trash players from gene Smith.
2014: Pretty much all Caldwell guys with 6 rookies as starters.
See the difference?
Quote:Your the queen of excuses. You have made excuses for every regime that has ran this team. You have 0 credibility because your record for these things sucks. Didn't bother reading the rest of your garbage
Agree. FBT is loyal to the regime to a fault (till the moment they get fired, or he is told the latest excuse). Thats okay tho, some people need to be told their opinion.
On the Gus thing, there really should be a maybe option. I still have faith personally, but if wins don't start coming you have to wonder if he is really able to put it all together. I am excited to see what will end up happening after the bye. A lot of rookies take a jump in the last half of the season, I am hoping this happens with blake.
I think this off season will be the most important time in Jacksonville's 20 year history.
(1) Is our GM a totally useless evaluator of talent
(2) Is our Coaches the wrong ones for the job
(3) Will FA Players even come here now unless we overpay them a tremendous amount of money
(4) Is our owner really in to having a winning team or does he just want to collect the money
(5) Will the fans show up next year (no buzz like scoreboard)
Lots of questions

Bingo. It's pathetic that some members will cherry pick a couple of aspects of the team as improved. The overall team is horrible and the 1 win we have reflects that. Some areas got better this year while others got worse. It's a wash. This team flat out sucks. If people on this board were not a fan of this team they would laugh at how bad it is like the rest of the league does. We are whipping post.
