2nd half I believe Gabbert could have played better. At least he can throw a 3-5 yard pass with accuracy. This is turning into a circus. Play the best player.

I seriously wonder how long this coaching staff is going to play up Chad Henne and let the better QB sit on the bench.

The two three and outs to start the second half were daggers.

i can see these same threads are gonna repeat all week.

the amount of bull coming from the coaches mouth is laughable. "Henne played well." umm, did you watch the entire game? there was three other quarters that happened after the first one. i guess you missed them huh? he gets one more free week to do what he wants, until he gets back home. they will be so many boos at the home game when henne steps on the field. this coaching staff is being very frustrating with this obviously stupid decision.

Quote:What about his personel decisions? Why not use Denard more?

As for the play calling why did he get so conservative so early in the game? Why didn't he continue to pressure the D and dictate to them?

These are all questions that concern me.

Also, and I've said this before... A superior QB can mask the ineptitude of a lack luster OC. This very well could occur when Bortles takes over. But it still doesn't change some blaring questions that have been around since last year in regards to Fische and how he game plans, calls plays, and makes adjustments during games....

Dude, they threw it FORTY THREE TIMES! That isn't conservative. I could feel Henne tighten up from my computer screen once the Eagles scored.

Many of the plays were exactly the same as your vaunted first quarter playcalls.

Yes, yes he is.

Not really.
Quote:Nah, stay the course. Philly was supposed to be a tough win.

This mindset doesn't win championships of any sort.

Because this team was bucking for a championship this year? I must have missed that expectation.
It wasn't supposed to be a tough win, it was supposed to be a loss. I was worried before the game that we'd be crushed. We all knew we had a better defense than last year and than our offense had a lot to prove. Nothing has changed. We need to run better, its that simple. If we have the six points from the miss and blocked field goals we don't go for it on 4th deep in our own territory. Our defense really suffered when Cyprien went down. You should all be happy about how we dominated half the game without experience anywhere on offense (except Henne) and no running game.

I'm overall happy with how we looked because yes I thought we didn't have much of a chance to win. Of course disappointed with how we looked in the 2nd half. 34 unanswered points is crazy. It isn't all Henne, but he is a big part of that loss. He just doesn't have what bortles has. Would we have won with Bortles? I don't know, but I feel like we have a chance and don't feel that way with Henne.
The most frustrating thing: the eagles were a playoff team last year. This should be a sign that the team can be competitive with competent qb play. THAT'S why you play the best player at qb, becauss competent play will lead to more than a handful of wins
Quote:Instead of witty one liners why not answer the question: do you believe Chad Henne gives us the best chance to win?

over the next 10 years yes by giving bortles a better chance to learn coverages get used to the speed of the NFL and ensure he stamps out the bad habits from his game

In addition if henne is having a problem getting plays in with 2 years of the system and 8 years of experience you really think bortles will be better equipped especially when it looks like blocking assignments we're the reason for the slow play calling... Also perhaps because our centre usually responsible for managing the line has only played one game at centre before?

No that just makes a bit too much sense

If serious you need to go

There will be a new one every few hours until Bortles starts. Maybe the mods can make just one giant "QB situation thread".
The way I look at it is this.

Henne gives us no hope. I didn't feel confident at any point yesterday, even with a 17 point lead. That's just sad.

I have heard the reasons given for why Henne is playing. I just don't agree with them.

Some on here seem to act as if Caldwell and Bradley are infallible and that it's the right move simply because they made it.

I don't blame fans for getting upset. I wouldn't blame someone for not buying tickets to watch Henne play. With Henne, it's just some extension of preseason and not really putting the best players on the field.

It's frustrating.
