I think if Bortles would of gone in  the second half, the Eagles D would of quietly said "Oh s...."

I agree with the OP. Henne is GARBAGE, plain and simple. He has no business being an NFL starter. The Eagles had their back against the wall going into the third quarter, and even after a touchdown a decent QB could have gotten down the field and stopped their momentum COLD. Did ANYONE here really think that Henne  was going to march down the field and take control of the game after the Eagles first score? Or were you like me and KNEW it was over because we KNOW what Henne gives us, which is SQUAT..... the dude SUCKS and I HATE the way he plays..

The whole team shares this loss.

Like hearing the Henne apologists on Jaguars Radio say he didn't have such a bad game, he made a few good throws, and blah blah.

Look people Chad is going to do the same thing next week. 4-5 good drives and about 15 3 and outs, punt. This is Chad Henne.
Quote:What actions do you want explained? Henne's play hurts the entire team, including gassing out a defense that is otherwise pretty dang good.

Yep. And he missed 2 FGs. Let a 4th and 1 go for a long TD run instead of calling a timeout because they weren't ready. Those rookie WRs were spot on every play. Marcedes was getting separation all day long. And the OLine...i mean, he had all day to throw. Then that running game. It should have opened up the passing. Then Prosinkis stellar play. Awesome. Friggin Henne.

But I get it . Stroking the Boners for Bortles instant winners crew is what will win games.
Our Defense played LIGHTS out the first half, a little help from our offense and we win this... No way that happens EVER with Henne..

Quote:Hene Henne Henne.

Missed two FGs.

4 th and 1 goes for long TD run because D wasn't ready and no one had sense to call timeout.

Prosinski sealed our fate....he's horrible. Losing Cyprien hurt.

There were a few dropped passes, and catchable balls.

The game is 60 min, not 30.

Eagles did some coaching at half time. Jags played not to lose.

Then there's the inexperience.

So please, stop with Henne. Brady couldn't do anything with this line and WRs. Marcedes couldn't get separation.

And so it goes"
Have you seen the teams Brady played on? Dude went to super bowls with mediocre talent on offense, its all about the QB
Quote:Lets not forget Henne can win games, it was him as a dohplin a few years back that beat us. I just looked it up,and he did. I'm not saying hes a great qb,just that he is cample of winning games. that's all
I'm going to have to see it to believe it.

I just don't believe everything I read on the internet.
Quote:Bortles will hide the deficiencies of Fisch, if he's the QB we all think he is.  Still doesn't change the fact that Fisch doesn't seem like the type of OC I'd want for this team.  This is just my opinion of course....  But he seems to make players on our team smaller as the game goes on...  It should be the opposite...

Problem is, now we're stuck with Fisch for a while.  We don't want Bortles to have to learn another new system next year.
Quote:Henne had a great 1st qtr and a decent 2nd qtr.

Unfortunately, as we have seen way too many times in the past, when Henne goes cold he goes ICE COLD.

I'm not saying it's all Henne's fault, he had some drops and the o-line didn't play well, but as a captain and more importantly, as a the QB, he has to figure out what the D is doing, and adjust into something that will have a chance to move the ball.

The D has to be giving up something and it's on Henne and the coaches to find out what it is, but it's on Henne to execute it. And most times he fails at that and just can't move the ball.

He just has way too many 3 and outs when the Jags need a 1st down. Way too many.

While I lay alot of the blame on the OC...  I can't disagree too much with what you wrote here.

But I think there is a symbiosis of suck between Fisch and Henne.  It seems like once the OC starts going against the original game plan, it spooks Henne.
Sure there are other issues on the team, but they are improving the QB position isn't. Henne will never be more than he is now, sub-average.

Quote:I don't understand the mentality.

Matt Ryan was plugged into an Atlanta team with more holes then ours, with a record the prior year worse then ours, then ended up having a winning record and making the playoffs. Andy Dalton, Joe Flacco....you're telling me Bortles doesn't have the same prospects and abilities as those two?

You shouldn't be ok with a coaching staff purposefully not starting a better player. It's a sign of surrender. It sends a message that the staff is already giving up on the season. Remember what Vic said the dirty little secret of the league is; no team is dead set on Super Bowl every year, the goal is to win and get hot. If Bortles gives you a better chance to win, then you play him. End of story. If we make the playoffs great....if we don't we still have a better shot at winning.

This. So much this. If Bortles looked like Kaepernick did when he took his first nfl snaps, yeah, be slow with him, he needs the time. But Bortles looked more than ready to lead this team. There is no minor leagues to fix the small issues in his game that the coaches think he needs to work on. Practice can only do so much, he needs the reps of real game action.
Quote:Clearly you should buy your own team because you are smarter than the billionaires that run this one then.

The message was clear. It has not changed.

Does that clear it up?
We were smarter than Weaver, Gene, and Del Rio.

Don't act like rich people or people in power are the only smart people. Most fans on this board are here to talk about the team, games, and to offer praise or criticism where it is deserved. It doesn't matter if the fans are heard or not.
Look, how many games is it going to take, with this organization and others, for Henne to demonstrate that he's just a below-average QB ? Not only that, but he has proven that when the pressure is on, he folds like a cheap umbrella. Why is it, then, that the offense seems to suddenly come to life when Bortles comes in the game? Do they sense that there's hope, where none existed before? Henne has his minutes of exceptionally good performance. But it always seems like it's just a matter of time until the pressure of success causes him to suddenly start failing. "Grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory", as the saying goes.

I could literally feel the change in momentum after the second half kickoff. We were ahead 17-0, but it felt as though we were hanging on by our fingernails. The team needed a leader at that point, a leader who refused to give in to the pressure of leading an opponent by 17 points who was a double-digit favorite. We didn't have such a leader, and the morale of the team evaporated quickly.

Henne has proven that he's incapable of leading. Let's give Bortles that chance.

Pretty much this, when did not giving game experience become a good thing.

Quote:I am not ready to make that assumption until Bortles gets some time.

Exactly. And management needs to start him so the evaluation process can start. Evaluation of everybody. This is a joke. Blowing a second half lead of 17 isnt something we should be expected to just say "oh well" to. The offense didnt help the defense at all.

Not playing bortles is coaching scared, plain and simple.

Real question. Are the people making excuses for Henne just making excuses cause y'all trying to back Gus or y'all really believe the [BAD WORD REMOVED] y'all saying?
i have only seen one post on this board suggesting henne is a half decent qb

the majority know and are well versed on what he is, a solid back up qb that is not the starter

so know we are not making excuses for henne

i also believe like you believing starting bortles is the right answer that i can make up my own mind without bradley's intervention, so wow well I must believe what I'm saying... perhaps why I'm saying it.... the logic astounds me

and though trying to explain my reasoning is about as pointless as a tic tac in a jock strap (trust me, it's painful) i'll have another go

we are not a playoff team right now, regardless of qb, we have an o line that cannot open up lanes for our running back and without a running game you cannot run the play action and you end up with 3rd and 6+ which even with a great qb is pretty much a crapshoot

added our wide receivers are all rookies while shorts can't stay healthy

and sitting him can't hurt, it's not like he will regress from it, from giving him time to watch film and learn about nfl defenses i mean it can't make him any worse it can only improve him

so what's the harm? why not take that chance on improving him

that wait may mean nothing or it could be the difference between say ryan tannehill and matt ryan

we haven't had a winning record since 2007 and we can't wait 8 more games?

All im saying is nobody should be saying "trust the coaching staff" today. Not after that.
The coaches have a NFL ready QB they are keeping on the shelf for only GOD knows why... Henne, is NOT NFL ready... sigh... why make us fans SUFFER ONE MORE YEAR...

Quote:Chad Henne goes ice cold in second half

Chad Henne | JAC

(September 7, 2014 5:53 PM EDT)

Chad Henne completed 24-of-43 passes for 266 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's Week 1 to the Eagles.

Henne started off hot by firing easy strikes to UDFA Allen Hurns, who had two touchdowns in the first quarter. But the second half looked like the real Henne, as he struggled to even complete the simplest of throws. We can confidently say that if Blake Bortles had started this game, the Jags -- who were up 17-0 at the half -- would have won. Henne won't be a good QB2 option even in a good matchup at Washington next week.
