Quote:Never once did I mention Bortles would have won the game. I did say he would have played much better than Henne. As Jag4Lyfe said ^^ his second half was garbage.

Do you play to win? Or just play better. if Bortles couldn't win the game, let him sit, learn and take it in. He'll be a good QB...if handled correctly. Gabbert sucks. But I think his getting in too early affected him somewhat. NFL QBing isn't college.

Second half was garbage. So first half was what?

anyway. Moot point. Henne will stay starter for the next few games. He also wasn't on the field when 34 half time points were scored
Quote:Real question. Are the people making excuses for Henne just making excuses cause y'all trying to back Gus or y'all really believe the [BAD WORD REMOVED] y'all saying?

Back Henne? I back Gus and Dave's experience and judgement when they say that he's the best starter. It's really hard to say that we would have won the game had Bortles played, the defense was just giving up to many big plays.
Quote:Better no opinion than a blind one. Bortles would not have won this game.
I'm not buying that Blake would have lost this game.
Quote:Lets not forget Henne can win games
, it was him as a dohplin a few years back that beat us. I just looked it up,and he did. I'm not saying hes a great qb,just that he is cample of winning games. that's all

stop

Bortles will start soon enough.  If they bring him in by week 4 or 3, I'll be fine with it.

Here's my bigger concern---Fisch.  I'm not sure he's the right OC for this team.

Quote:Hene Henne Henne.

Missed two FGs.

4 th and 1 goes for long TD run because D wasn't ready and no one had sense to call timeout.

Prosinski sealed our fate....he's horrible. Losing Cyprien hurt.

There were a few dropped passes, and catchable balls.

The game is 60 min, not 30.

Eagles did some coaching at half time. Jags played not to lose.

Then there's the inexperience.

So please, stop with Henne. Brady couldn't do anything with this line and WRs. Marcedes couldn't get separation.

And so it goes"

I remember one of those missed FGs happened after he missed a wide open Lee for an easy first down.

Henne isn't the sole purpose for this loss, but he was a big part of it. He got plenty of time to throw in the fourth quarter and made some piss poor throws into coverage while drifting in a clean pocket. Yeah, he had some dropped passes but everybody here expects it with the young wideouts, or so they should. Marcedes looked like he for some great separation on that fourth down.

To no surprise, I'm just another [BAD WORD REMOVED] off fan stating the obvious: Henne is a bum. Yes we have rookies, but many of Henne's passes were just horrible.

Even one of the TD throws to Hurns was an ugly pass.

I can't wait for the day that he's out of this damn team..

End of rant
Yes.

Last year your username was Henne.

Two years before that  your username was Gabbert.

And a couple years before that, it was Garrard, or was it Gray, or was it Leftwitch?

The name changes, but the fool remains the same.

Don't change a thing fool. We need you to make us feel better after losing a hard fought game.

I am not ready to make that assumption until Bortles gets some time.

As far as I'm concerned, this game only proves that this team is not yet ready for Bortles and Co.

Both Gus and Caldwell are wise men. And they are wise enough to know that this team will still not be able to properly compete for a championship for at least another season. Give Gus and Caldwell one more year to fill-in the remaining holes and then, plug Bortles in. Don't worry guys. Our Jags will be seriously competing for a championship someday.

It's just that; it won't be in 2014.

wow you are really an aggressive, mean-spirited person. are you miserable?
Quote:Yeah..that stellar line, dropped passes, route running, no run game had nothing to do with it.

I understand the boners for Bortles crew, but I dont think he would have fared better with the matadors blocking.

Henne played a decent first.

I'm not a Henne homer, but this team has issues on youth,, depth ( Prosinski? ) and OLine.

With no experience at the WR position, a makeshift OLine, how can everyone pin it all on Henne?
I'm half and half on Henne. This game proved he is just a guy. If he could have put up one more TD this game would have been over and that never happened. He just can't take his game to the next level period. The play that made this apparent for me; it was a first down in the bottom of the third quarter. He had a play sent in and he audibles out of it. It was Gerhart to the right side where he got crushed by 5 players. These are simple calls that good quarterbacks don't make. As the game goes on he seems to lose awareness of the game and situation he is in. The guy is a solid qb and is not a bum. What we saw today was what solid qbs do. Just be happy we have the future on the roster and what until it comes. No one said it wont be a bumpy ride.
Henne had a great 1st qtr and a decent 2nd qtr.

Unfortunately, as we have seen way too many times in the past, when Henne goes cold he goes ICE COLD.

I'm not saying it's all Henne's fault, he had some drops and the o-line didn't play well, but as a captain and more importantly, as a the QB, he has to figure out what the D is doing, and adjust into something that will have a chance to move the ball.

The D has to be giving up something and it's on Henne and the coaches to find out what it is, but it's on Henne to execute it. And most times he fails at that and just can't move the ball.

He just has way too many 3 and outs when the Jags need a 1st down. Way too many.

So that would be a yes. That the excuses are to back Gus. That's what I asked. Read what I said again.

Lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bortles will hide the deficiencies of Fisch, if he's the QB we all think he is.  Still doesn't change the fact that Fisch doesn't seem like the type of OC I'd want for this team.  This is just my opinion of course....  But he seems to make players on our team smaller as the game goes on...  It should be the opposite...
Quote:wow you are really an aggressive, mean-spirited person. are you miserable?

Nah he's just trying to impress other message board members.

Great points.

So what are you saying? That the fans are smarter football people than the coaching staff and front office folks? If this is the case, we really are in trouble.

This I agree with. No run game really helped him. I know its easy to think Bortles would have won this game but would he have done as good with no run game either? Either way Henne being the guy has to figure out a way to get his team down the field and score.
I don't understand the mentality.

Matt Ryan was plugged into an Atlanta team with more holes then ours, with a record the prior year worse then ours, then ended up having a winning record and making the playoffs. Andy Dalton, Joe Flacco....you're telling me Bortles doesn't have the same prospects and abilities as those two?

You shouldn't be ok with a coaching staff purposefully not starting a better player. It's a sign of surrender. It sends a message that the staff is already giving up on the season. Remember what Vic said the dirty little secret of the league is; no team is dead set on Super Bowl every year, the goal is to win and get hot. If Bortles gives you a better chance to win, then you play him. End of story. If we make the playoffs great....if we don't we still have a better shot at winning.
