Stephen Hill - WR - Jets
ESPN New York's Rich Cimini believes the Jets should and will try and trade WR Stephen Hill.
We doubt Hill would fetch more than a late-round pick, but he has all the measurables at 6'4/215 with 4.36 wheels. Unfortunately, Hill's hands are made of stone, while his body has yet to hold up in the NFL. Ex-GM Mike Tannenbaum made Hill the 43rd overall pick in the 2012 draft. Hill has missed nine games in two seasons, and has just 45 career grabs for 594 yards and four scores to his name. He has just two catches for 29 yards this preseason. If the Jets can't unload Hill via trade, there's a very real chance he's part of their final cuts.
As much as I respect Jerry Sullivan, I don't think that he will be able to turn Stephen Hill's NFL career around.
Having said that, if the Jets cut Hill or would take a conditional 7th Round pick for him, then it would be worth seriously considering Hill because Sullivan is an elite WR Coach. So much would depend on who he would replace on the Jaguars 53 man roster. Every roster spot is valuable.
I'd be interested in Hill. Kid had a ton of potential coming out.
In lieu of which WR we already have?

Yes, that is the problem. At this point in the preseason, taking Hill means cutting another WR who might be preferred over Hill.
Didn't want him in the draft, don't want him now and we really don't have space on the roster for him...

Another receiver who probably is preferred over Hill.
Hill stinks.
Troy Williamson flash backs. Nooooooooo
Wouldn't mind it but I don't know who we would release for him.
If he comes over waivers (we are 3rd right?) think about.

Sanders, easily. Doss handling punts makes that happen.

lol.....

yes, because theres never been an NFL player thats initially been bad at his first stop and turned into a good player elsewhere...
You had me at injury prone and stone hands
Remember when this board was clamoring for him in the first? The next Demaryius Thomas lol.
I'd be willing to let Jerry take a stab at him, but not for anything significant. If he's available for a 7th rounder, I say go for it. Cecil, Lee, and Robinson should be our top 3. Hurns looks like he'll be there at 4. That leaves Sanders and Brown to make it five. If Hill steps up and learns from Jerry, he'd be at 5 with Sanders being a return guy/depth.
Cecil is still unsigned, and hasn't been able to shake his injury problems.
Let's not pretend as if we have sure studs here. We have a few guys who potentially could be good...but none of them have proven to be a legit WR in the NFL...yet.

ding ding ding ding!

I doubt this regime is going to cut one of their draft picks 1 year in, who's done more in 1 year than Hill has his entire career.

Lets not act as if Ace has been
that impressive. He caught a fair number of passes last year but also had a sub 10 YPA and broke the least number of tackles of any WR in 2013. (at least that was claimed on here by someone)....
Add to that the 4 game suspension, and the arrival of Tandon Doss who is a better returner, and you have a scenario where Sanders is expendable in a case of adding potential like Hill.
