Glad this firing part is finally over with.
The fans knew it was coming, I think the players knew it was coming, gus knew it was coming, the media knew it HAD to be coming......so now its done.
its a huge relief. So now the whole league doesn't have to guess, there's a HC opening at the Jaguars.
really only one thign to say....

Quote:My questioning of the timing is why now, vs 13 weeks ago? Or whenever the bye week was? Or whenever the team was officially eliminated from the playoffs? Why this loss?
I think Kahn actually watched the game today.
Quote:They won't be able to contact most of the coaches while the season is still being played. So no, this gives them zero advantage.
They can contact any coach in the college ranks. So yes it's a huge advantage to get started now. Rams have a week head start on us.
Quote:I think Tony Dungy said it best a few years ago when he said Peyton Manning only ran about 10 plays in practice. But he ran them endlessly not until they got it right, but until they couldn't get it wrong. He went to the line of scrimmage with two plays, then based on the defense he called the better. If it was a pass, he recognized the guy with single coverage and that was the primary target.
I don't know what this team does.

Peyton Manning isn't walking through that door and onto the Jags practice field.
The 2nd coming of Peyton Manning isn't walking through that door either.
The Jags are stuck with Bortles for at least another year, hopefully they can find a QB somewhere to at least challenge and compete with him for next season.
I don't think Bortles can be fixed enough to lead the Jags to the playoffs, but that's just me.
Can he improve, sure, but can he improve enough to lead the Jags to the playoffs? I don't think so, but we'll see.
I personally don't see Bortles playing another down as a Jags qb. At this point with nothing to lose give it to the guy we just drafted. Allen will get the start.

Perhaps you missed the point.
The point is there is a strategy to optimize a QB's strengths to the point where on game day it's automatic. A good coach will recognize how to get a guy to that point.

Sure would love to see Gruden, Patricia, McDaniels or anyone not names Gus.
Oh and whoever suggested that oversized meat bag Rex Ryan... Hahaha... why hire another loser?
No more coaches with three letter names, that oughta be like.. a .. thing.
How bout the old Steelers coach.

I dunno... I'm kind of partial to 3 letter names.
Just playing devil's advocate here... but both Grudens have 3 letter first names...
So does Coughlin, and I'd be cool with him.
Fun: Mcdaniels
Safe: Mike Smith
Ambitious: Coughlin
I think this is for the best, not only for the Jaguars, but for Gus Bradley. The next couple of weeks off can give him the opportunity to re-group, then decide if he wants to consider coaching in 2017. For the Jaguars, getting a head start on what was inevitable, makes a great amount of sense.
Really Id love Mcdaniels, young brilliant coach, young talented team, backed by lots of money... and TRUMP!
Here is my theory though just a theory. What does not work a players coach. Who made Jax special Coughlin. Who was rumored to take the giants job when Couglin stepped down? Bill Cowher.
Cowher could make Jax special again. And would not tolerate poor performance and would have that toughness. And as an analyst is now a business man. What way to right the ship. Hire a businessman.
Of course it would take a huge paycheck. Who has the money? Khan.
One possibility that we fired Gus today is that there may be some sort of "gentlemen's agreement" with another coach already in place. Think Coughlin or Mike Smith.
The firing was handled poorly but had to be done nonetheless

I don't hate the idea of Cowher.
Then again, I live in Steeler country.
local news said jaguars to trade 2nd round pick for sean peyton will be the head coach and gm, peyton to make a trade for Drew Brees
