If they have already decided to fire him then I don't see the issue of doing it before the Christmas break. Also frees him up to interview for any D Coordinator jobs.
Quote:I think he will actually learn from the mistakes he made here and the become an average to above-average HC one day for another team - like Del Rio and others.
It's hard to imagine him getting another shot. Can you imagine fans reactions?
Del Rio had way more impressive CV than Bradley
Best day ever just spilled over into the next day...I'm so happy that we finally beat cancer.

Del Rio posted a winning record in just his second season. In no way is he even remotely comparable to Bradley.
Great news to wake up to.
Been said alot but Gus is a classy man, unfortunately he was just way out of his league as a HC and didn't have the self awareness to realise that. So good riddance as a HC but good luck with whatever job you have next.
Quote:I would be OK with Todd Haley, Josh McDaniels, Mike Smith, and Tom Coughlin.
I would remove McDaniels from your list and add Sean Payton, Jim Harbaugh, Teryl Austin, and Shaw from Stanford.

Here is my uninformed opinion. These are my preferences in order, assuming they are all available.
1) Tom Coughlin- this is a short-term, win-now choice for a team that needs structure and discipline. I think naming him coach would sell a lot of tickets, too. Plus, if you're going to impose structure and discipline on a team, it helps if the guy doing it has 2 Super Bowl rings.
2) Jim Harbaugh- he will not be available, IMO.
3) David Shaw- This would be a great choice, but heck, if we're going to talk college coaches, why not Nick Saban?
4) Todd Haley- He's doing well in Pittsburgh, but I don't think "Todd Haley!!!" is going to sell many tickets. He is an offensive coordinator, and we need an offensive mind right now.
5) Josh McDaniels- The guy who spent a first round pick on Tebow? That's one strike against him.
6) Mike Smith- very boring choice, but solid. Caldwell could pick him if he wants a guy who won't make waves and won't demand power. But don't we really need an offensive-minded coach? Because right now the big question is, what the heck happened to our offense.
7) I don't know Teryl Austin at all.

I don't think he'll get another head coaching job. Owners will be hesitant to hire him because they will be afraid of the fan reaction to hiring the guy with the worst won-loss record in NFL history.
If you see somebody "jaguaring" in the middle of the Matthews bridge, just don't mind me, I'm just so happy
Quote:The firing was handled poorly but had to be done nonetheless
Well, the head coaching was handled poorly too. This should have been handled/addressed many losses ago.
good god it's finally over
I woke up this thinking i was dreaming but its still true, Bradley is gone. Thank the gods.
Quote:???? LOL. OK...
I mean, I know how nice it is to get fired right before Christmas. It totally puts everyone at ease...
Are you serious???? FBT with the classic ownership apologist reaction...

We all knew he was going to be fired anyway. If we knew it, he knew it. Now he can just enjoy the holidays and not have to worry about spending his normal ten minutes game planning.
Quote:I said it was obvious he wouldn't be a good HC at the end of this first season...but whatever...he's gone now.
The real work begins. Caldwell or whoever is GM better not screw up the next hire!
Great day to move forward in Jags nation.
This. I can't say that I knew for certain that after only the first season that he wouldn't be a good coach here, but I can honestly say that his 'ra, ra, sis-boom-ba' style of leadership didn't impress me. Whatever.. he's done now and it's time for this team to start getting turned around.
Obviously, Dave struck out on Gus... and by all appearances on Bortles too. I would have to think that Dave Caldwell is sitting on a mighty warm seat right now. So a couple of things need to happen;
(1) Dave had better select a decent head coach this time and not a cheerleader.
(2) Bortles had better develop good passing technique and get his head together or he's finished in Jacksonville.
No decent head coach candidate is going to want to hitch their wagon to a team with a loser for a franchise quarterback. Bortles got shown up in Houston by a rookie quarterback! His stats are terrible other than for 'garbage time' padding. He needs serious competition here this coming season. If Bortles doesn't 'pan out' and we flop on another quarterback or head coach selection then Dave Caldwell needs to hit the bricks too. This is a business and that business applies to the GM too.

I keep seeing Jim Harbaugh mentioned. C'mon people, why would he leave one of the most secure college jobs in all of college football, that he has completely turned around in a short time? He is loved there and he makes just as much if not more money than he would in the pros. Why would he leave that just to come to a losing NFL team that has a bad QB situation, no real chance at a franchise QB in free agency and a terrible crop of QB's in the next draft? Jags fans and Rams fans need to quit dreaming. Maybe we could get Shaw from Stanford, but this isn't a Madden video game. Harbaugh
isn't coming to Jacksonville.

Can't hire coaches from college teams in Madden, bruh.
Quote:Man so much hate going around here. Really unfortunate situation and he obviously is not the right coach for us, but he did work his butt off and the players obviously have major respect for him. I wish him luck.
Who cares man?
It doesn't matter at all if he is a good person. He historically failed at his job and should have been fired a long time ago.

Bahahah You tell someone to remove McDaniels but you add Harbaugh?
Harbaugh, Cowher and Gruden are not coming here.
