I still like idea of Mike Smith. Gus has scarred me when it comes to the "bright up and coming coordinator on a top team". Patricia especially although I love what I hear. I also loved what I heard about Gus in Seattle.

If it's so Official, where are the asterisks?????

Cowher loves him a good Defense. We're very close to having a REALLY good defense. I can see him viewing the Jaguars as a team that he could step into and take to the next level.

I highly doubt they go with an up and coming coordinator.


You're looking at coaches with HC experience. The list will most likely include Marvin Lewis (anticipated), Mike Smith, Sean Payton maybe.


Also, anyone who realistically thinks Gruden or Cowher are going to leave their sweet gigs to come coach this dumpster fire of a franchise, wake up.

Yup, should have been fired on Monday afternoon, not right after the game, Very unclassy Khan.  Gus was a bad coach, but he was a good person.

Rams, Jags, and likely Bills are going to be the HC vacancies.


Jags are unquestionably the most "Cowher-esquire" potential team.


Sure, I'd put the chances in the <10% range.... but it could happen. He WANTS to coach again.

Mike Freeman of BR said he has been hearing "a lot" of McDaniels to JAX stuff. But I tend to agree. Caldwell cant fail on another hire.

How do you know he wants to coach again? From everything I've heard, he loves his current job.


Id say the Bengals are closer to being the team Cowher likes. But it doesn't really matter since he's not coming here. Your 10% should really be lower than .00001%

McDaniels has HC experience so he should be on that list too.

Todd Haley is another name to watch. Offensive mind, no nonsense - basically the antithesis to Bradley.

My initial guess is Caldwell will hire someone with a successful past and not a young newbie. Its a way to take some of the blame off him if things go south.

One of Coughlin, Smith, Haley, or McDaniels will be HC imo.

Caldwell's not surviving a second failed coach, so hiring a coach with the idea to deflect blame shouldn't even enter the equation.

There are some good articles on McDaniels talking about his failed stint in Denver. If you haven't read them, I suggest you do. It may ease your concerns about him a bit.

I would be OK with Todd Haley, Josh McDaniels, Mike Smith, and Tom Coughlin.

Ill have too. I mean hes an offensive mind thst I think could have a huge impact on Bortles or whatever young QB we bring in, but its scary when you see he took Tebow rd 1, dealt Cutler and BMarsh, and everyone reportedly hated him.


Just too much failure here in last decade. We cant afford another dud.
