Quote: I agree that there is a general overreaction to Brunell's comments.  Oehser, to be fair, called the remarks "misguided" not Brunell himself.

Despite the overreaction - Brunell's comments are certainly a major PR gaff for the franchise - and his timing was impeccably horrendous considering they just announced his induction into the Pride.

Good points . . yeah - now I'm turning it over in my head, I can see how it's very poor timing.  And even if he's right that a lot of people are speculating about the team moving, Brunell observing that there's a lot of speculation doesn't add anything positive to the conversation.  I mean, why reiterate the opinions of (largely) uninformed pundits.

I think it's clear that he'd love to have a mulligan on this particular radio spot!

Quote:Maybe you should look up the word lemming and it will substantiate my claim. Nobody got rocked, FBT's just toting the company line as he alluded to earlier in the thread when I said I was on tilt. Calling someone a lemming is hardly an insult, simply an accurate observation only after digesting a few responses from the damage control crew.

He actually backed up what he said with an argument. You haven't offered anything of substance. So please offer sometching with substance.
Quote:The gm should have took what we had and made it better. This strip the team deal backfired. The KC way proved it. Whats worse. It happened thw same time. They went one way. We went another. We could have followed their lead. So its not our fault we suck.
Took the team we had and made it better? THEY WERE 2-14 LAST YEAR. IT NEEDED TO BE GUTTED.

KC had a better roster than the Jags last year. It doesn't take a genius to see that, but apparently it eludes you. Go figure.
Quote:Any of you sycophants that would be shocked if the Jaguars move to London are delusional.  The odds of this team being here 10 years from now are low.

And our thesaurus user winner of the week, ladies and gentlemen!

Now we're sycophants? Of course, you're really connected and all - I'm sure you know Khan's driver or someone.

Thanks for the insight.
Quote:Are you implying that people that believe the words that come out of Khan's mouth are somehow trying to cozy up or gain the favor of the man?

....or do you just have no idea what that word means?

I'm banking on the latter. It had a lot of syllables in it.
Quote:I’m late to the party (well, thread) on this one, so I just went and checked out what Mark actually said on air:

My response is: What on earth are people so upset about??  From the rage on these boards, to John Oehser calling Mark ‘misguided’ . . it’s baffling.  What Mark said sounds completely reasonable to me.  He’s saying he doesn’t want the team to move, he wants them in Jacksonville – but if it did happen on day, it wouldn’t come as a complete surprise.

To placate the angry mob, he followed up with.

Believing these observations constitute a great betrayal is ridiculous. It’s really low to trash Brunell over this.
People are so upset because Brunell is one of a handful of iconic Jaguars that are revered by this franchise. If anyone at all were to go on National TV and defend us we would absolutely expect it to be him or Tony Boselli or Fred Taylor. With all that is being done to strengthen the Jags and keep them here we would expect Brunell of all people to be one of our torch bearers delivering our message. If put to a vote on famous Jags who would be expected to defend our name, Brunell would be at the top or very near it.

You act surprised at fan reaction? Did you not notice the ten page thread that erupted from this firestorm!?!?!? If anything Jag fans possess high football IQ in all of its capacities.

Nothing wrong with his statement because it is logically correct? Again true Jag fans were struck by this as odd and for every point he made during this debacle there are many more he could have presented defending us.

If his comments were so pedestrian then why did he reverse his stance? That alone justifies the angry mob. We are a sensitive fan base that has had a really rough go of it the past few seasons and we are fighting for our franchise. Back a Jaguar into a corner and you will be served with sharp teeth and razor sharp claws.

Good points. I can't dispute anything you've said..  : )

You guys give the obvious trolls too much attention.
Quote:Can't watch the clips but I see some tweets that Brunell was on ESPN this morning. And during his appearance he suggests that the Jaguars appear headed to LA or London. Anybody see his appearance? If true, it would be a shame if he really believes this.

The writing appears to be on the wall.  Didn't you see the Mayor Of London's prep rally for the Jaguars (and not the 49ers)?  They have all but changed the name from Jacksonville to London Jaguars at this point.
He was on the radio yesterday. Very apologetic at how he handled it. Said it wouldn't be that way from here on out.

I think he was toeing the company line when he got asked that question.

That's because it was a home game for the Jags. They did similar things for all the "Home teams" that came over.

That's your great bit of evidence that the writing is on the wall?

A pep rally?

You're reaching.

You should get out more.

Stay out of my foxhole when the bullets start flying if this is your fighting spirit...
I've been looking for the London Calling challenges article this morning. Basically the reader's digest version:

1. Passports are a problem for participating overseas more so for the "permanent" team. Basically everyone you want to be available on game day would need to have theirs.

2. You have to have a US base of operations to conduct workouts and manage your participation in the draft and any other team type functions.

Would the Jaguars possibly play 2 home games or up to 3 in London? Maybe that will be the direction they take. Jacksonville would end up being the "home" base in that scenario. But really it is a non-issue at this point because the fan support has been good for an 0-8 team.

Dew can't see past his nose. He looks for things to support his argument instead of letting the evidence speak for itself. Thanks for looking past the surface.

KC had a better roster than the Jags last year. It doesn't take a genius to see that, but apparently it eludes you. Go figure.

KC also hired the head coach that we apparently didn't even extend an interview for.

Andy Reid was precisely what this organization needed at exactly the right time, and that kind of opportunity doesn't always present itself, and yet Khan seemingly didn't make any serious attempt to even bring Andy in for an interview.
Lets DEAD this "Jags to London" or any team for that matter once and for all!

If you really think about the proposition carefully, you easily see how we are at least two decades away from that possibility.

1. How successful would the NFL be in a market that isn't 50 years deep in the love of American Football? The NFL over there would probably be similar to Soccer over here...an after thought. Sure fans show up for 1 or 2 games a year as an alternative to the norm, but would they be willing to buy season tickets year after year?

2. They asked a few Jaguar players concerning and the even the players were of the mindset that it may be nice to visit for a game per year, but to be based over there......NO WAY! Blackmon went as far as to ask would his entire family be moved over there with him.

So you would have a team in Europe that couldn't sign any free agents and would be the butt hole of the NFL for like....for ever.

3. The culture in other countries is different. The SECURITY is different. Terrorism risk would probably at least double for an American team playing over there. IT's one thing to plot a terrorist attack against Americans on American soil but it becomes a whole lot easier in Europe!

Also, in some other countries, losing is taken a lot more serious than here. With referees or players being followed home, beaten and even killed. Is the American people, NFL and players ready to deal with this cultural difference?

We are at least 20 years from a team being permanently placed in Europe.

You really shouldn't think we are very safe here in America. Drive around sometime we are pretty lucky we don't have more problems. The water I use for everything is an open causeway running off a highway. Sure makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Security really is an illusion. It goes back to most people being "good" people and thinking positively about their fellow humans. The wacky people are outliers not the norm.

Back on topic... LA wouldn't be a destination anytime soon for the Jaguars. Looking long term if the fans don't stay it makes it easier but really the team is where it needs to be off the field. On the field we have bigger hills to climb.

Key words "apparently" and "seemingly".

Key words for "I don't know the facts", that is.
