My enthusiasm is based on the assumption he will not be here to make the pick.
Anything that doesn't look like this is fine with me:

That is so sad.....
Bortles signed a 3 year deal with a $15m signing bonus, and $25.5m guaranteed. If you trade or release Blake after this season, the Jags would have to take an immediate $10m cap hit for the unamortized signing bonus, plus $6.5m of remaining guaranteed dollars in the contract. He would have a dead money hit next year of $16.5m (not $10m as referenced earlier in the thread).

If they keep Blake next season, he has a cap hit of $21m ($5m in signing bonus amortization plus a base salary of $16m). I guess the good news is if your release or trade him, the Jags actually free up $4.5m of currently scheduled cap ($21m scheduled cap next year, less the $16.5m cap dead money hit).

Given the cap commitment to Blake next year, whether $21m if you keep him or $16.5m if you release/trade him, I would assume the preferable alternative is a rookie QB, or a stop gap "cheap" veteran.
There isn't a winnable game remaining on our schedule, so at 3-13, we should be in prime position. With a new QB, same defense in tact for most part, healthy line, we should be back to last year's level quickly. Maybe draft an MLB and additional OK and WR

Look at the wobble. I don't want to put it all on Bortles but he's not progresses as we hoped this year. The injuries on the O line have been brutal and destroyed Bortles confidence in the pocket, you can see him brace for hits as it's been 3 seconds, he knows pressures  coming from somewhere.

I look at that throw and it looks like he's trying to get it out quickly for fear of getting sacked and doesn't throw it properly, doesn't want to hit the O line so throws it at a weird angle, doesn't want to get picked so going to put it in the dirt for the receiver and a player that doesn't trust his ability.

He is trying to compensate for so much that he's now just stifled himself and can only hand the ball off. And the last two weeks make me really worried that he's actually finally broken from it all.

9-7. maybe 10-6 with a full roster.
So our defense gets worse next year, we can’t sign someone in the off-season because we have no money and yet we go 10-6 with Blake?

Hilarious.
This QB class is the weakest since 2013. The year of Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, and EJ Manuel to name a few. Pass on QB in 2019.

I have that dude on ignore. I'd rather not see his posts being quoted because then I see them.

I'm starting to wonder about kicking the tyres on Bridgewater. I know he's had his problems in recent years but he took the Vikings to the playoffs in 2015, winning their division and lost to a very good Seattle side thanks to the kicker. He got that injury and when he came back Keenum was lighting it up and he didn't get a shot. They bring in Cousins and he goes to the Jets, who then draft Darnold and then he goes to the Saints with Brees and Hill.

If we could get him on a short term, prove it deal and offer him a real chance at the starting job and see how we go. He's an accurate passer in the short to medium pass game which would be exactly what we want from a QB.

How is the knee and not playing for 3 years? That I don't know.
Be prepared for Marrone reloaded in 2019. It is like 2017 but without the playoffs.
Drew Lock, I don’t care I like him.

I wouldn't bring up the name Bridgewater. I got called a troll for the Jaguars to trade for him early in the season.
We could get Alex Smith, for cheap.....

Why do people after five years of Bortles, does hope spring eternal that somehow some magical football QB fairy dust will sprinkle down from the football heavens over Bortles and he will become even just a serviceable QB? Do you have QB Stockholm Syndrome? He's bad....face it, he's bad. Get over it. Time to move on. I said it weeks ago after the Chiefs game, 3 and 13.

Why oh why did they choose a QB in the draft that ran primarily the option in college? [BLEEP]?

So you were saying in the preseason that this team was going to be bad? Because next year's team is going to be very much the same team minus 1 or 2 guys. Or are you in the "we have to move on from everybody with a contract this off-season" camp? Either way, the expectations for next season aren't going to be all that different. Look, I get it, it's been a miserable year. But this team wasn't put together with a 2 year window and all the overreaction around here doesn't change that.

I know, I know, NFL fandom is the place of heroism in dissing the home team and very short memories of success. Such is life.

Lol, poor baby. Not unexpected, but certainly sad nonetheless.
Nobody would trade for bortles....so it’s cut him or keep him. And there’s so many issues with this team, not sure how we fix it by next year.... here’s to another decade of crap until we get another good year!

Good thing Coughlin is the one making the decisions.
Peter King said we should trade for Stafford. Not sure about that

You would still have to draft a QB.
I'd take him in a heartbeat. Patricia is probably going to want his own guy at QB and if you get Stafford and still draft a QB, I'd much rather him learn from a guy like him than BB.
